If you really need glass test tubes, your best bet is to check with Hospitality.

The main issue is that people on this forum were claiming you could grab 10g of Hypermangan at a local pharmacy for just 6-$... uh... $2.25... well, you know...

I'm worried the prices at Hospitality are going to be insane, but I'll give it a shot... thanks. 🙂

I can share my experience regarding Savannah, though I can't speak for Portland.
I had no trouble picking up some Hypermangan at any local pharmacy. They wouldn't sell me Hydrogen peroxide without a prescription at my neighborhood drugstore, but over at the main city pharmacy near the metropolitan health center, they sold it to me without asking for anything. As for Bivacyn ointment, nobody is willing to touch that without a black prescription.
Is it even possible to get the specific medications you're looking for without a prescription?

Those two bolded points are completely contradictory.
And I've already been told that getting medical-grade gasoline is possible.
So it sounds like iodine is the only questionable item, and even then, it's the least important thing on the list...

Thanks anyway, everyone.

I think rustymason82 is getting you all mixed up with this idea about grabbing sedatives and antidepressants without a prescription. It’s just not happening. You aren't getting those without a script, period. These drugs are heavily monitored because the tranquilizers are straight-up addictive. Honestly, I don't think anyone is stupid enough to risk their entire career just to score a single box on the black market.

Fair point, I did get mixed up. In my local pharmacy, I could never pick up hydrogen peroxide without a script, yet at another shop across town, they sell it without any issues at all. (In my line of work, small cuts from water exposure don't heal easily, so I need it.) I even picked up some Hypermangan recently without a hitch. The only thing is, you'll never find Bivacyn being sold without a black-market prescription.
Maybe try asking about the Hypermangan (if that's what you actually need?) at a different pharmacy if your usual one won't help you out. As for iodine, why not check with a local vet clinic?

Wait, hasn't Bivacyn powder been pulled from the market? Besides, you can grab Tyrosur powder over the counter—it’s basically the same antibiotic anyway.

Let's take this step by step

Bivacyn is an antibiotic. They don't sell the powder version anymore, and if you want the ointment, you'll need a prescription from your doctor.

Hypermangan

Official response from the Board

Can pharmacies sell Hypermangan in solid form, or does it have to be strictly a liquid solution?
(11/4/2011)
Response: Potassium permanganate is included on the "List of Precursor Substances Used in the Manufacture of Controlled Substances" under federal regulations. According to the Controlled Substances Act, it can only be dispensed as a compounded medication via a physician's prescription. Regarding the specific form of potassium permanganate, the recommendation is to dispense it as a solution.

As for iodine crystals, you need a prescription for those, but you can grab Betadine over the counter without one.

You can pick up 3% hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, and medical benzene off the shelf without a prescription just fine.

Any pharmacy selling the items mentioned above without a prescription isn't following the law.

Do pharmacies actually perform custom chemical compounding based on specific orders? I’ve noticed a few different threads where people mention having certain mixtures prepared for them at a local drugstore—is this some kind of off-the-books operation, or just standard procedure?

I’m looking to have a liquid formulated with a 0.001% caffeine concentration—would a pharmacist be able to whip that up, or is it even within their wheelhouse? (Specifically for hair loss prevention)

There are definitely compounding pharmacies out there that make personalized formulas based on a dermatologist's prescription. That would include stuff like specialized shampoos or lotions containing caffeine.
You'll just need a private prescription from a doctor to get them to make something like that.

Is there any way I can get someone to whip one up for me without a prescription?

Does anyone know if I can pick up some bismuth subcitrate anywhere in the States?
