To hell with sports when they suddenly jump from being an afterthought to being the center of everything😁

😍>

Yeah, I think you've got a point there.
Of course, one second they're top tier and the next they're practically bottom of the barrel. Take Adrian Sutil, for example—he's a full second ahead of both McLarens. That puts the McLarens at the very back of the Mercedes group (out of six).

And Ferrari and Alonso? They're more than a second behind Nico Rosberg. So, where the hell is that KERS?

It would be nice to see things shake up a little... and honestly, I don't see any reason why those diffusers should be banned if they were built strictly by the book. It seems to me the rules themselves are the issue here, not the diffusers. If three teams managed to pull that off, then everyone else could have too—but instead, they chose a different path last time (due to some questionable decisions at 🙂), and now they’re whining because someone else actually has a faster car. If they want to complain, they should just design a similar diffuser and get it approved. They simply won't admit the truth: our cars are slower than theirs, plain and simple. We should be trying to catch them on the track, not running to court to beg for a ban. That’s just pathetic—it turns the Formula 1 courtroom into the main event, rather than letting the racing, the skill, and the innovation take center stage.

It’s pretty stupid to say anything before qualifying, but the fact remains that the diffusers are doing their job 😁

Anyway, waking up at 7 tomorrow just to bite my nails 😬

It’s not quite that black and white. Those diffusers are definitely sitting in a gray area right now.
The teams using them took a gamble and it paid off. I’m not losing any sleep over it.
That said, it’s a massive headache when the rulebook is written so vaguely that everyone can interpret it differently.

Samuel Cruz61, how much would you actually pay for a Super Aguri shirt? (considering your avatar, obviously) 😁

The cars are heavily damaged. Every single one looks like a total wreck from the front. We'll just have to wait and see how these beat-up machines hold up during actual race conditions when things get tight. I’ve got a bad feeling about this...

I realize it’s not simple. Which is exactly why the rules need refining; they shouldn't be open to these kinds of double meanings, and there’s really no point in penalizing teams for building a car that strictly follows the current rulebook. I don't feel sorry for anyone either—even though I'm a Ferrari supporter, I actually enjoy seeing the deck get shuffled a bit... if only to keep things unpredictable.

and Buemi wins because he's just slow enough that by the time everyone else finishes fighting through the first corner, he hasn't even reached it yet

The diffusers are absolutely in a gray area, and that trio will likely exploit it. The FIA will probably play along since they just handed the fans a way more exciting season than last year. It doesn't really matter if they ban those diffusers in three races or not—the damage is already done.

Since I love a good conspiracy theory, it’s pretty interesting how this specific diffuser "idea" only occurred to that trio (teams that haven't actually achieved anything in Formula 1 for decades), while the heavy hitters fighting for the podium (Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, and BMW) didn't think of it—or rather, they knew better. I get the feeling someone whispered in their ears exactly what would fly just to kick the season off with a bang.

Maybe I'm wrong, though... ☕

btw... you can tell a lot of drivers are missing braking points and sliding onto the grass, probably because they're still adjusting to the extra power from KERS. Either way, qualifying is going to be insane, and the race will be even better. As things stand, McLaren might not even make it out of the first round of qualifying. 😢

I can just picture it—everyone slamming that throttle at once, guns blazing, right as they charge toward that very first turn.

I’m really expecting Red Bull to take off this time around.

KERS gives you wings. 🙏

That said, it’s a massive headache when the rulebook is written so vaguely that everyone can interpret it differently.

To add to that, the absolute worst part of this whole mess is that Red Bull claims they actually approached the FIA back in 2008 asking for clarification on whether a double-decker diffuser was legal, and at the time, they were told it violated the rules... or so they claim, anyway.

Meanwhile, Toyota also reached out to the FIA seeking further clarification, and they were given the green light—or at least suggested it was legal, though we don't know if they were specifically talking about this exact diffuser...

In any case, we're dealing with a mountain of information mixed with plenty of disinformation...

Some people are just messing around, claiming that Toyota will definitely have to forfeit their first win or else the bosses will commit ritual suicide, while others argue that other teams desperately need to find sponsors.😉

Regardless, the cars without that multi-element diffuser are dancing around quite a bit on track.

What’s your take? Are we just being forced to endure Nelson Piquet Jr. claiming that Fernando Alonso doesn't have any real competition,

or is there actually someone being incredibly incompetent over at Renault? 🤷

It's just about satisfying the sponsors🙏

But if they don't show anything meaningful this season... he should be out the door immediately.🙏

Unfortunately, he already showed what he's capable of today by going off track. 😁
