Henry Baker said:How exactly does vacating the stands change anything?

The games would be played in front of half the crowd, in empty stadiums where you could hear every single kick and player shouting. All the ugly side of soccer would be exposed, which would totally debunk the idea that "hooligans" are the root of all evil. The whole "loving soccer" project would fall apart because nobody wants to watch matches like that... In the end, the USSF and everyone else would realize they can't survive without fans since their business model depends on them. I’d bet anything that the clubs would revolt too—specifically teams like Liverpool FC or San Francisco. Of course, the guys over at Real Madrid wouldn't bother rebelling...

All the grit and ugliness of the sport would finally be exposed, debunking the myth that "hooligans" are the root of everything. The whole "Loving Soccer" project would collapse because nobody wants to watch low-quality matches. Ultimately, the USSF and the rest would realize they can't function without fans—their business model depends on it. I wouldn't bet against the clubs revolting either, especially teams like Liverpool FC or San Francisco. Of course, the guys over at Real Madrid wouldn't lift a finger.

The reality is, the ugly side of the sport has already been fully exposed by recent seasons, like getting knocked out of the UEFA preliminary rounds by Cypriots or Albanians.
And people watching "Loving Soccer" aren't tuning in for the stadium atmosphere; if they wanted that, they'd actually go to the game.
As for the USSF, they couldn't care less about the MLS as long as Markan from Canada stays in charge alongside that tabloid thief.
The clubs would probably protest, but honestly, would it even make a difference?

True, but they mask all of that by focusing on the fans, dealing with hooliganism issues, or handling UEFA fines and whatnot. But what happens when the fans aren't even there to be managed? It would be much more dangerous if the clubs themselves started an initiative—if the clubs actually turned against the Association or the first division association. Right now, we're just fighting this alone while they slowly tear us apart...

Yeah, but more than half of them would stop watching entirely if our top league looked like some local 3rd division circuit... which is exactly what it would look like if these fans staged a boycott..

They don't give a damn, unless someone finally puts an end to it..

As it stands, we are fighting this alone while they slowly dismantle us.

Anyone paying even minimal attention knows that hooligans aren't the reason for poor results; it’s strictly the players and their lack of performance.
Regarding turning against the association, there was a meeting in Columbus involving northern clubs opposing the "Loving Soccer" broadcast. We shall see how that plays out.

Honestly, games in the second and third divisions are often more interesting than our current "Fliđan" league. Sad, but true.

I’m not saying we should boycott the hardcore supporters... but I am totally behind the regular fans in the East and West stands at Anfield.. at least here, our guy really gives a damn about us.. he actually cares about the everyday people instead of just the ultras.

Look, let's stop wasting our breath debating how we’ll react if they ignore our main demands or arguing over who’s right.

I called this ages ago, back when that first fan law was being drafted. I told everyone we’d eventually have to take extreme measures like a hunger strike because the crackdown just gets worse every year. Back then, people laughed at me, saying we should fight the law by breaking it instead... 🙄

But hey, we can wait and see if I'm wrong. In the meantime, let's actually be productive and help draft our own proposal.
The law has about forty different sections. I want everyone to chip in with at least 5 to 10 specific critiques—tell us what you'd change and how you'd fix it.

I'm honestly glad we're finally on the same page about one thing: we won't achieve anything unless we stand together. We're all in this mess together. 👍

If you happen to have a digital copy of that fan law on your computer, would you mind uploading it here? It would be helpful if we could all review the text and share our own perspectives...

My take? They shouldn't punish everyone the same way. There’s a massive difference between someone lighting a flare and just holding it under their chin versus someone actually chucking it onto the pitch. One guy is just being loud; the other is actively sabotaging the game itself.

It's totally illogical how they handle alcohol. They say you can have up to a 0.02% BAC when you walk through the gates, yet you aren't supposed to "possess" alcohol while traveling to the match. If I recall, there’s even a heavy penalty if you exceed that limit. We should suggest they scrap that whole rule because it makes zero sense. It's ridiculous that someone who has three beers and wants to catch the game ends up facing massive fines or a police report. It would be much more reasonable to set a hard limit—say, 0.02%—where if you're over it, the cops just deny you entry and leave it at that. You shouldn't have life-altering legal problems just because you had a couple of extra beers.

Well done. 👍

We should definitely pursue an appeal for reduced penalties—specifically targeting both the duration and the fines. Right now, the punishments for carrying a flare are more severe than those for drunk driving. Using any shred of common sense, which one is actually more dangerous? A drunk driver who could cause a fatal accident, or someone caught lighting a flare? It’s illogical.

Back in the 90s, we needed people who could channel national pride and step up when things got heavy. Back then, fans were actually supported. Now? This new fan law treats everyone—from the veterans of the 90s to the kids today—exactly the same. They’re grouping us in with pedophiles, dealers, loan sharks, and murderers. It’s absurd.

Hey Liverpool FC fans, does anyone have that video where the cops stormed the stands in Columbus and just started swinging at everyone in their path??

I think it would be more productive to focus on finding footage of actual US police misconduct instead of obsessing over someone else's business.

p.s. that guy from Malta is clearly unhinged.😲 😠

This conversation could easily head in this direction too. It’s a bit long, but we could probably pull some good imagery from here. 👍

A few examples of totally useless "displays of force" at the perimeter—even if you deploy entire battalions, they’re still just "fans" sitting in their seats in the stands. What kind of scenes are these that they claim are for families coming to the stadium? The current situation in the West is even worse than what's shown in these photos. Having a riot squad staring you down for 90 minutes? Bravo. That’s exactly what keeps viewers away. 👍 ) :

Here are some photos from before 2000. Just so everyone can see that this crackdown didn't just start yesterday.

This shot is excellent. 😁 The crowd by the gates is ready for anything. This stadium situation is getting out of hand. 👍

Which one is better: this or that?

If someone absolutely insists on being in front of the barricade, this is a far superior option. Though it remains unnecessary. :

As far as I am aware, they receive seniority credits for this. Maybe for this?

Also, an example of a threatening message that would be banned from the stadium under police regulations:

P.S. Could we not all just be happy? 😍 👍

- Veko, sorry if this is too much, delete it if so..😁

- I would prefer not to be in this situation while driving. 🤣
