Jerry Garcia said:That's not fair 😉

Not toward me, not toward the right side, and definitely not toward Cats

Man, I don't need people thinking I'm sucking up to users or playing nice with my colleagues😁
Just keep reading what I wrote😉 Breaking it down like that is seriously unfair🙂

Jerry Garcia,
It’s all a joke, honestly—the mods can just tweak PDFs whenever they feel like it based on their own "creative vision," and you guys just sit there defending them instead of actually looking at how messed up things are getting.
It feels like keeping the mods happy is way more important than actually listening to the users.

That last speech you gave, sdafkl, about the criminal moderation style over at Adriatic and how they basically ignore everyone by moving us off the exact threads where we were complaining about his management? Yeah, that pretty much proves my point right now.

Nah, you all just refuse to admit the moderator is right and you're the ones in the wrong. And anyone who tries to point that out is going to be labeled a criminal by you people...😉

And frankly, I feel slighted by moderators who fail to warn users about such language, and instead choose to justify or even encourage it.
Furthermore, ALF and PETA are two entirely separate organizations. You noted that distinction over there, but you haven't repeated it here.

I have no idea how your moderation style works, mostly because I tend to avoid Reddit; I’m always half-afraid I'll get a strike just because someone else decided to insult me.

Anyway, we are drifting off-topic now, whereas we could have settled this in the threads specifically designated for it.
I didn't notice you complaining about those threads being closed.
I'd much rather hear your thoughts on that.

boldhound8, I never said you were doing a good job; I simply meant it would be a nice gesture if you warned users before jumping straight to a strike. If that isn't your policy, then 🤷

Here is something fresh:
Sting moved my favorite chat topic from the Car section over to Off-Topic. We were pretty annoyed because he left the other chat topic alone while trying to bar us from participating in it. (Of course, all the mods from the Car section were involved, but since Sting is my favorite, I'll just mention him.)
I viewed that as blatant discrimination and segregation, so they eventually moved the other topic to Off-Topic too, which was perfectly fine. 😛
I just wanted to make the point.

Look, this forum exists, among other things, as a place to swap ideas. That doesn't mean everyone’s opinion is going to be sunshine and rainbows, but that's not the same thing as being an asshole...
And nobody is actually innocent... 😉
I don't know why people get so worked up about these things on Reddit, but here we are again. It feels like every time someone brings up a serious topic, the comments devolve into pure chaos within minutes. You can’t even have a civil conversation without someone jumping in to derail the whole thread... It’s honestly exhausting. You try to make a point, stay measured, and actually look at the facts, and then you get hit with a wave of nonsense from people who clearly haven't thought twice about what they're typing. It’s just noise at this point. There's no logic left in most of these discussions, just people shouting into the void for attention... Anyway, I'm going to step back from this one before it gets any more ridiculous. Some arguments just aren't worth the energy.

Back when those topics were actually blowing up, I wasn't even a moderator yet. So, for the record, I didn't shut them down...

Yeah, honestly? That moderator is totally spot-on when he calls us all psychopaths, and the admins are doing exactly what they should by letting him get away with it.

I said "some" idiots—not all, per se. I certainly didn't say everyone is an idiot, for heaven's sake. 😲
(honestly, this is starting to feel like light brainwashing)

You might not have closed the threads, but you stayed silent, too. You were right there witnessing my specific situation; you saw how I communicated in that thread and you saw exactly what morbid wrote to me.
I truly hope you won't continue to tolerate that behavior, though your silence doesn't necessarily reveal your intentions. You chose not to speak up about the issue, whereas you could have shown some solidarity—much like how morbid's little group showed him solidarity by jumping on me in the Complaints section.
As a regular user, I react when I see injustice, which clearly gets under certain people's skin. They love to label it as "whining," "lobbying," or having a "conflict-prone personality," but I am certainly no coward.🙂

boldhound8 said:Nah, it’s actually the exact opposite lately. I’ve got less and less energy for this, and honestly, even less patience for people. The newbies act like they own the damn place—I don't even know how else to put it—instead of actually taking a second to read the rules when they first show up. And the old-timers? They just refuse to learn anything. Breaking the rules is clearly way more fun and easier for them than actually following them. Of course, there are exceptions in both groups, but man, most of them are just exhausting.

Even if the Prime Minister doesn't have that specific post to back him up, it’s crystal clear that getting those people banned was totally justified. Honestly? It was more than justified.

Oh, so I’m "good" just because I’m not posting on your pathetic little corner of the internet? Please. If I actually started hanging out on your board and you had to drop a few bans on me just to keep up, then suddenly I’d be the bad guy. Give me a break.😁 I’m telling you, it’s all just a matter of perception.🙂

Look, I wasn't even trying to defend him. I told you straight up, I have no clue what's actually going on here. But if you're gonna stand there acting like you've got all the facts, then maybe—just maybe—that red card was a bit much.

Look, I know some people here think I’m living in a dream world, but let's get real. I'm not even trying to make excuses for us, but damn, we’re dealing with five times the headache they are. When their site hits peak traffic, maybe 400 people are online at once. Here? We’ve got 3,000 to 4,000 users hitting it all at once. They barely have 4,000 total members, while we’re sitting here with over 100,000. It's not even a fair fight.
You know what I’m trying to say here? Seriously, just look at that nightmare of a dream you had—thinking you're looking at 13 threads that need deleting in just five days. Now, stop and actually do the math. Think about how many individual posts have to be nuked, how many warnings have been handed out, all those random emails, and all this other garbage we deal with... it adds up to way more than that.

Look, cousin, whatever you want to say, all I'm saying is there's just no comparison here.😉

I'm with you on this.
Can you even imagine? Even us moderators sometimes feel awkward because we don't have a boss looking over our shoulders.
I mean, on paper, we do, but in reality, it often feels like the moderators are the highest authority. To me, that feels stupid sometimes. Because when a user files a complaint and I shut it down with solid arguments, I actually need someone above me to look at the situation and back me up—to confirm it because they believe in the logic, not just because I'm some "big shot"
It's the same thing when I screw up. I need that higher-up to discipline me. When I mess up, I *want* to be punished, because I don't want it to look like I'm the "bad guy" who can just do whatever the hell I want. We're humans! Someone pushes my buttons, I say something stupid, I get a strike—it's insane.🙂

That's why I keep saying the FBI needs a total overhaul, and I think better oversight would come from that reform...

Oh, come on, you know exactly what's happening.
The only thing I can't wrap my head around is whether this user we're talking about already has a warning on file for this kind of thing.
If he does, then the red card stands. If he doesn't, then it would be fair for the admin to step in, pull the card, post a note saying it was premature, and apologize to the guy—but also give him a heads-up to watch out for similar threads next time and point him toward the help subforum if he's confused.

But honestly, boldhound8, you'd need some serious guts to actually do that.

And I get why you won't jump into the debate and why you're hedging with that "I don't know what's happening" line.
I'm not going to push my opinion on you, because you're cool enough that I don't want to force you into writing something that’ll just land you in hot water with the "colleagues," the "mods," and the "big boss."
I know exactly what I would do in this spot, and frankly, that's enough for me.
I'm really curious to see if the admin or a mod actually weighs in on this thread regarding our young, confused forum regular...
God, I feel like the kid is using some old-school Venetian defense strategy, and I've got a bad feeling his appeal is going to end in an auto-ban...
If it goes south, I'm holding you personally responsible for my chess match with my little cousin....

Go to hell, man.😁
Just saw this thread now. Seriously, you think I actually follow every single thing on this entire damn forum?😉

And look, I’m gonna give it to you straight, so don't even worry about me. I just hate seeing stuff pop up that shouldn't be happening in the first place. Because if I say I don't know what's going on, then I genuinely don't know—I'm not out here lying just so my boss doesn't grill me.😉

coastalstag15 said:boldhound8, it’s actually quite refreshing to see someone with such a strong sense of conscience, taking the time to warn everyone before you start handing out bans.
If only everyone else behaved with even half your integrity—or perhaps a third, or even just a quarter of it...🥳

It all depends on your perspective. Personally, I find all the mods here to be pretty solid. I mostly hang out in the Formula 1 and Soccer sections (though even less frequently than that), and honestly, I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the moderation. No complaints at all. Plus, this isn't even my original handle; my real account has been around since the IMF days and hasn't run into any bans or anything like that. I was just smart enough to forget my password, and now that old account is long gone.😵I’ve only picked up two warnings since I started here, even though I probably deserve way more. One of them was a total mistake, and honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. I just sent a quick DM to the moderator to ask about it, and she told me it was just an automated error. That was it. No attitude, no drama, nothing. Everything’s sorted now. If I ever have a question or something doesn't make sense, I just shoot over a message and we're good.👍

And yeah, back to the topic:

I check the FBI reports regularly. It's actually useful because you can see exactly which moderators are active and where they stand without any guesswork. 🙄 So then they just don't post there, and you don't have to deal with the headache of all those cardboard boxes.

Honestly, if I were to read what the FBI is up to, I’d probably get banned from the Politics sub on Reddit immediately. From what I can see, people over there hand out bans just for saying "good morning." But since the FBI is lurking here, I guess I'll hold my breath.🙏 Look, you see stuff like that and you just stay far away from it. No stress, no drama.👍
That’s exactly why I am dead set against getting rid of this PDF.

And what about boldhound8? 🙏 I don't have much direct experience working with him, but from what I can see, he seems like one of the best moderators on this Reddit thread. He’s incredibly fair, honest, and—let's be real—absolutely massive. 🙏 To Sepa and the FIA—who, unfortunately, aren't running the show as moderators anymore.😢

Look, people, it seems like we’re all collectively forgetting that warnings are just tools—they're meant to be a heads-up, nothing more. They don't cost anything and they don't actually change the status quo; their entire purpose is simply to serve as a reminder.
Elsewhere, you might get a private message acting as a warning, but you should probably expect that if you don't fix your act, a direct ban is likely what follows next.
Rachel Sanchez11, that little kid you're talking about apparently dug up a six-year-old thread, but somehow missed the main discussion?
Alright, let's say he did.
So what? He hasn't been banned, he hasn't been kicked off Reddit, nothing of the sort—he just got a warning.
You're out here claiming he's some brand-new user.
But what if he isn't? What if he's actually a clone of someone who's been on this site forever and knows the rules inside and out?

Look, I’ve already laid out my position...
I can't tell if this guy is actually a new user or just some clone account.
But honestly, someone putting in that much effort isn't trying to stir the pot for the sake of it; they clearly just want to have an actual conversation about something.
And just so we're clear, getting hit with an unjustified warning hurts people just as much as a ban does. Both are disciplinary actions, and the bottom line is that you did something wrong or messed up. The people who are mature enough to get that will understand after a private message; those who don't? Well, they won't get it even after five warnings and two bans.
The way I see it, that warning was way too harsh, and I think the moderator dropped the ball here.
Or let me put it this way: if this were my forum and I wanted high-quality contributors, I’d always side with the folks capable of writing a decent paragraph over the spammers and trolls whose biggest contribution is dropping five emojis to show how they feel.

Look, if you ask me, I’d put it this way. The warning was issued, and yeah, the mod did their job—it's just that maybe they could've handled it differently.

I mean, I'm a user too, right? He did his part by posting, he just could've been a bit more mindful about where he was dropping his comments.

Oh, come on. I guess the moderator just couldn't be bothered to actually move the thread or notify anyone, so they just slapped him with a ban instead—showing everyone who’s boss and shutting the whole thing down.
Look, sure, you *can* handle things that way, but it isn't right. That’s literally why this thread exists. Just lift the ban and let the guy talk about chess; honestly, screw this site and its rules. If he wants to debate the defense of Venice, I’d personally build him a dedicated room for it, let alone let him post on a forum.
Actually, I'm stepping away from all these debates because this whole situation just proves who actually matters here. This place doesn't need people who can actually write; it just needs smiley-face types whose biggest achievement is picking out emojis.
Later..

P.S. Lift the ban!!!!

Just dropping in to say goodbye to these threads.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I know you guys won't pull it off....
Maybe I'll start a little blog about this chess player, so you guys always have somewhere to look for justice, especially when it comes to our dear, wonderful admin.
Peace
👋

Rachel Sanchez11 said:Jerry Garcia, if you're so eager, feel free to stop me..
You've got the option right there in your control panel...
Since I'm not even going to file an official appeal, nobody's even going to notice.
And if you really need a reason, I can give you one.
Is that really the outcome you want?

P.S. By the way, big boss lady, answer the guy's appeal. Since I already know what your response is going to be, we both know the appeal is basically pointless. And that fact is just sad...
Peace. You don't have to force me out. I know when I'm not wanted, and I'll leave on my own. After all, this forum is your playground and your dad is bigger.

Rachel Sanchez11, that’s really not the heart of the matter here; honestly, the easiest thing to do is just pack up your gear and decide you're done playing the game altogether
It is incredibly difficult to maintain any sense of perspective and realize, for instance, that no actual damage was done
If a person had been banned, the way they would have been banned on some other subreddit, then maybe we could actually be having this kind of conversation, and everyone would act differently as a group because the consequences of your actions vary wildly depending on the venue
But like this, with all these little power plays involved, the only thing that truly matters is that a person stops dragging up ancient history and pays a bit more attention to how they frame their posts
Just like Richard Perez3 mentioned, the user could have handled things one way or another, and the moderator could have done the same
Both sides had options and choices, and they made theirs
The absolute worst thing that can happen to anyone in an argument is having a mob descend upon them to scream for or against a cause, because naturally, it puts the moderator in a position where every single move they make has to be defended and justified (and you know, as do anyone who has ever participated in various sites out there, that such a thing doesn't exist)
Simply put, a moderator has certain duties and certain rights, and as long as it isn't blatantly obvious that they are dead wrong, they are in the right
It is exactly like how a judge is going to believe a police officer who claims you were speeding, rather than believing your claim that you were driving like a complete lunatic with a fever and a wandering mind

Well, since it looks like we’ve all finally exhausted our collective supply of wisdom and have basically devolved into just chatting amongst ourselves, I think it’s about time we wrap this thing up.
On the FBI site, access remains wide open for anyone who actually wants it, and nobody is being forced into anything; it’s entirely up to you whether you want to hang out here or not, just like any other sub-forum on the internet.
