It’s not an excuse.
Just because alcohol exists doesn't give anyone a free pass to be wasted every single day.

Same goes for junk food and all that nonsense. When it comes to drugs, moderation is the only thing that matters... if you can even call it that.

Drugs have been so demonized by society that kids actually think getting completely blacked out is perfectly fine. They see it's socially acceptable—their dad, their brother, their grandpa is drinking—so they figure they can too.

When you look at the actual death tolls and the sheer impact on society, cigarettes and booze are doing way more damage than drugs will ever do.

It’s true that when you look at the death toll, these two are clearly ahead of the curve regarding drug-related issues. But honestly? I wonder if things would even be this bad if drugs were legal—if they were marketed just like Budweiser or Miller Lite. Who knows.

What I’m trying to get at is that personal responsibility should be the bottom line. If you want to use drugs, go ahead and do it in moderation; it doesn't bother me one bit. But once you cross that line into addiction, you should be footing your own bill. That’s my point. If I’m staying clean and skipping the booze, why should my tax dollars go toward someone else's rehab?

Making certain drugs legal would be the single biggest blow to organized crime we could ever deliver.

Legalization means better quality control. People wouldn't be dropping dead from some "dirty" batch of street junk... and trafficking wouldn't exist on this massive scale.

Keeping drugs illegal doesn't make them any less available, nor does it make them "less harmful."

Look at alcohol. You don't see ads for hard liquor everywhere; only beer gets classified as a basic food product.
Even then, laws are being skirted constantly. But whatever. Just like so many other things out there...

Sure, it would deal a heavy blow to organized crime, but it would also make everything way too easy to get your hands on. Give it enough time and it might even become as socially acceptable as grabbing a beer or lighting up a cigarette. We’d almost certainly see more fatalities too—not necessarily because the stuff is low-quality, but simply because so many more people would be using it. And let's be real, even high-quality drugs aren't exactly great for your health...

I'm not exactly saying we should just legalize everything, regulate it, and call it a day, you know? I guess I just dream about a world where if someone decides to get hooked, they actually end up footing their own bill for rehab if they care enough to seek it out. That's all.

Alcohol definitely gets advertised... just look at an ad featuring George Clooney sipping a Martini, for instance. Plus, back in the day, you'd see commercials for General Motors or FedEx popping up several times a day on all the major national networks, including CNN. It was constant—I can't remember the exact names of every brand or all those bottles they showed on screen, but yeah, it happened.🙂

Look, I already said it—the law is being broken here. Advertising alcohol is strictly prohibited, so I have no clue what kind of loophole allows Martini to run ads... while they can't even touch brandy 🤣

It’s just the obvious influence of a force greater than the law: money 🙂

From what I can gather, you were arguing that alcohol isn't actually being advertised, just beer—which gets treated more like a food product... but fine, whatever.😘

By the way, if we're talking advertising, I'd much rather see them promote something local, like some small-batch bourbon or a domestic wine, instead of Martini. Then again, I don't work in marketing, so take my word for it with a grain of salt.🤣

Alcohol is good for the brain, though maybe not quite as much for the liver 😍 😍

So instead of grabbing a Coke, just pick up a small brandy at the gas station... you get the same kick, and with a brand like Jack Daniel's, it’s actually a cleaner hit 😍

Grace Lewis6,🙂 you might want to just pull the trigger on yourself and call it a day,
you're honestly such an idiot...
look, if you're actually in Chicago, why don't you just head over to the psych ward at Cook County where they strip those pieces of trash naked... go see how much fun they're having there.
😢
man... I am so sick of dealing with morons like you.

Just a heads-up: don't bother trying to talk me out of it, because I'm going to do this regardless of whatever stupid comments you leave. I guess I've just reached a point where I feel like I've done everything else and I want to try something new. To be clear, I haven't even touched weed yet. I have zero interest in smoking that. But all my friends are into speed now, and now this other friend is pushing us to try cocaine. Money isn't the issue. I'm just stuck on what to actually go with, so I wanted to hear about your experiences. What's the best way to get a real high without being a total zombie for 24 hours? I'm thinking about doing something Saturday night so that by maybe 2 or 3 in the morning on Sunday, I'm somewhat functional, though I still want the experience to actually hit.

Come on, it's not that big of a deal.
You try it and either it's okay—if the stuff is good—or you feel nothing at all.
It depends on everything... mood, the crowd, etc.
It's not going to be some massive life-changing event...

Well, unless you do LSD, but nobody in the world would recommend that to you.

Honestly, none of this is really anything special...

Honestly, you’re being an absolute idiot. I have to agree with mistyheron39 on this one. If you're looking for a brand new experience, maybe try taking a bullet to the head instead? At least that way you'd be doing your poor parents a favor (assuming they even exist). I'm not even going to bother replying to someone this dense. 🙂

I once knew this guy—well, I knew him enough to know his deal. He started out just like this absolute clown who kicked off this whole thread—you know, the kind of person who just talks in circles without a clue what they're doing while people are actually out there struggling to put food on the table.
He ended up six feet under. Now, I can see his grave right from my apartment balcony...

I’ve already been through rehab, and I’m barely seventeen; I first messed around with it at fourteen and was stuck in treatment by fifteen and a half. I tried ecstasy and it absolutely wrecked my life, so why would anyone even think about touching drugs?

I’m honestly all for drugs...
I mean, if there isn't any chance to die out hunting or something, then some kind of natural selection process has to exist, I guess. ☕

New research just dropped on how much different drugs actually wreck your mind and body. As you can see, alcohol ranks dead last at number five.

So, what actually happened with that whole mess? I can't be bothered to read through everything right now... Did he just snap out of nowhere, or did someone finally push him too far?
