I honestly broke down crying because yet another young life just gets wasted. Even if he was being provocative, or hadn't actually tried anything, he was still sitting there thinking about it. Couldn't he have just started a different thread?

I stumbled upon this thread completely by accident, and honestly, I’m just chiming in without much purpose. But man, look at this kid... he's only 17 and he thinks he's checked every box on the list (😲). Good for him, I guess. We aren't just talking about some kind of prodigy here; we're talking about someone who seemingly never sleeps and operates with an unlimited budget!! I'm 47 years old, and I've spent exactly 17 of those years traveling the globe for work, and even then, I'm just happy that my "to-do" list of experiences is still miles long. There's no need to lecture him—he's made his choice, and he thinks he knows best. All I can offer is a few suggestions for things he hasn't tried yet, though they are absolute madness. After he spends the whole weekend getting wasted and wakes up hungover on Sunday, tell him to try jumping off a 50-foot ledge on Monday. Or maybe on Tuesday, he could try stopping a freight train with his bare hands—just me versus a thousand tons of steel barreling down the tracks at 80 mph... now *that* is an experience, pure insanity. And if he's still feeling brave on Wednesday, tell him to stick a 220V wire up his backside... it provides a better rush than any drug, trust me.
Whoa, what a legendary guy!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙏 👍
(Though, if you ask me, this is probably just someone looking for attention; it's hard to believe anyone could actually be this dense)

Nah... electricity can actually kill you, and it's hardly a great feeling.

Yeah, sure. And drugs feel amazing, too. Yeah, right.

I wasn't planning on adding much to this thread, but I suppose I should say my piece now...

So, the question at hand: should he try drugs or not?

Given how young he is, my advice would be a firm no—at least not right now. If he’s going to explore that path eventually, he should wait until he's 19 or 20; he’ll have a bit more maturity and foresight than a 17-year-old who’s still basically a child in the eyes of the world.

I’ll speak from experience. Up until I hit 20, I hadn't touched anything besides alcohol. From then until about six months ago, I experimented with just about everything except weed, pills, and the endless variety of synthetics you see floating around these days. I’ve cycled through ecstasy, speed, cocaine, mushrooms, LSD, meth, its various derivatives, all the way up to pure MDMA. There were stretches where I was hitting the coke, speed, and various uppers hard on a daily basis. Surprisingly enough, I turned out perfectly fine, without any lasting psychological or physical damage. Mostly, I just stopped because I lost interest; I don't feel the need anymore, nor have I ever really felt it. Considering how much coke I used to crush regularly, I almost wonder how I didn't develop a dependency, but I suppose that's just life. It's in the past now.

Aside from that, I don't drink or smoke; in my entire life, I haven't even touched a cigarette or a joint.

It seems the kid has already made up his mind to try something, and I see plenty of people here shouting nonsense. My recommendation, if he's hell-bent on doing this, is that he waits until he's at least 20. He’s far too green and naive for these kinds of games right now.

I’ve been there, I’ve done it, and I came out the other side intact. I also know plenty of people who stayed relatively stable and sane. Ultimately, it comes down to the individual; how drugs affect a person depends entirely on who they are.

And how exactly are you supposed to notice, unless it becomes painfully obvious?

There really isn't a way...😉

The reality is that kids aren't nearly as oblivious as their parents like to believe.😉

Nobody would touch the stuff if there wasn't a payoff. Some things can absolutely wreck your life—don't get me wrong—but they provide a hell of a rush too.

And then there are things that provide plenty of satisfaction without ruining you... zero negative consequences.

Yeah, and? I could take drugs, too. Doesn't mean I'm giving up everything else.

Look, it's fine. Do what you want and consume whatever you please; live your life. 🙂
It just feels wrong to be sitting here on this forum listing the "benefits" and effects of drugs. To me, that’s just unhealthy and frankly almost 👎

So what? Why bother chasing a high when you could just do something that won't wreck your system? It's not even a question.

Stumbled upon this by accident... There’s always some idiot on these forums who opens a thread with some ridiculous bait just to watch people bite, and honestly, you all fell for it perfectly. 😬
I don't have the energy to read through the whole thing, but it reads like a post from some trust-fund kid whose entire social circle hangs out at Marriotts and private clubs, so he’s sitting there clueless about how the real world works. 🤣
Absolute legend. 👍

Maybe this thread is just noise, but if one person actually thinks about what’s being said and decides to skip the headache, then it was worth it. That’s the whole point.

this whole thread was started by someone who’s either completely lost their grip on reality... or is just looking for an excuse to let go entirely

It's ridiculous to fight drug use through nothing but fear-mongering and lies. It isn't some absolute truth that trying something once means you're going to die or become an addict overnight. That can happen, sure, but that's why people need actual information—understanding both the pros and the cons.
Yeah, and? Why bother using drugs for a high when you could just do something that won't hurt you at all? I mean, what's even the point?

It'll hurt you if you're stupid. One gummy, one pill, or whatever else—you aren't going to face lasting consequences from a single instance. If you overdo it, then yeah, you'll pay for it, but that applies to everything in life.
Besides, it's hard to replicate certain mental experiences without substances. Just look at alcohol—people drink because they enjoy the sensation, and they're fully aware they'll deal with a hangover in the morning.

I'll weigh in here.
I completely agree with you, but look at the world we live in... one bad influence leads to another. What's truly pathetic is that fools don't know when to quit, and with the kind of garbage being sold these days, things can go south fast.
Now... I'm not sure if that's actually a result of toxic "friendships" or if people genuinely find satisfaction in them? Though I used to think it wasn't a factor. You just shouldn't have friends who pressure you into trying harder stuff.

I don't get why weed isn't enough. You've got a smile on your face and you're satisfied... what more could someone want?
If anyone tries to argue that weed is a gateway drug, they can honestly go jump in a lake.

I quoted you for no particular reason...

PROS??????? 😲 😲 😲 😲

So, what you're saying is that addicts are just stupid?????????? (As in, lacking intelligence or just being completely dim-witted???) 😲 😲 😲 😲

Well, yeah—positive. Why would anyone use them if they only had negative effects? It’s basic logic.
So, you're saying addicts are just stupid? Like, lacking any actual intelligence or common sense? 😲

What I'm saying is—if you actually give a damn about not frying your brain, you'll think twice about how much you're taking.

True, but let's be real—the ratio of positive to negative is roughly 1 to 1,000.🤣

In my experience, I see way more people who try this stuff out for a bit and then just move on, rather than the ones who actually double down on the nonsense. It's just that the loudmouths—the ones sticking to the script—are always the ones making all the noise...
