I get that, but if I actually liked it—say, if it was like Sin City—I’d head back to the theater to watch it again and really soak it in, just like I did with Sin City and 300. In my defense, though, I just hooked my computer up to an 82 cm LCD TV, and honestly, even the digital copy I downloaded isn't half bad.

An absolutely stellar film. You're laughing through half of it, and the other half is pure action bliss featuring the best special effects I've ever seen!

Missed opportunity right there. I mean, I was low-key hoping to actually see some robots in action. On the bright side, the movie doesn't take itself seriously, which is fine. It’s got decent jokes, it’s fun, and the lighting is pretty slick 😁, which works since the whole thing feels like one giant commercial for cars, the military, or hot women.

Though, sometimes the product placement gets ridiculous (not that it's a bad thing, hey, at least you're laughing 🙂). Those shots of the new Chevrolet Camaro tearing through the desert feel like they were ripped straight out of a car commercial. Whatever. And it's like the producers went to the U.S. military asking to collab, and the military just handed them a list: "Sure, but you gotta include this, that, and this, and film it exactly like this." There's tons of military tech on screen, and they make sure to label everything. Don't even get me started on that "these guys don't know how to lose" line—talking about our glorious American soldiers.

But again, like I said, all that stuff is kind of cute and funny in its own way. What isn't funny at all is how the action scenes and those robot transformations are shot. I don't think there are more than two or three wide shots in the whole thing. It's ALL close-ups and tiny details where you can't even see the full robot, let alone the transformation (which sucks, because instead of seeing a cool transformation, you're just watching a pile of moving parts making loud noises). Plus, I guess because they wanted to "pull you into the action," they used a shaky cam for everything. It’s SO shaky that combined with the close-ups, you can't tell what the hell is happening.

And for the finale? Zero big motherfucking robot action. Even Megatron and Optimus Prime, the heavy hitters, don't really wreck anything during their fights. They aren't grabbing cars to toss at enemies or leveling entire blocks. They mess up a few streets, leave a couple of craters, poke a hole in two buildings—and that’s it. No actual city destruction. Okay, I know people will say I totally missed the point, but I don't give a damn about Transformers like that. I want robots that actually tear a city apart.

Oh well, it was still a good time. Since these are the only robots we're getting for now, I'll just hope the sequel is a bit more megalomaniacal and actually focuses on some massive destruction.

Great movie....and I’ll bet my life savings that in just a few months, we're going to see an announcement for a sequel....Optimus Prime pulls some tiny fragment of the Allspark right out of Megatron's chest, Megatron ends up sunk (safe and sound, presumably), and then Optimus calls out to the rest of the Autobots....It’s the perfect setup to keep the story going.

An excellent summer distraction; I truly enjoyed the movie
I won't bother listing all the flaws—there are plenty—but it definitely gets a thumbs up from me!

Honestly, the movie was fantastic.

I caught it at the AMC Theatres, and seriously, all credit where it's due.

The only thing that really bugged me was how weird the font looked on screen.
And no matter how hard I tried to follow the "how does that work?" logic during the transformation sequences, I just couldn't wrap my head around it.
It felt like watching a pile of scrap metal shifting around until it somehow settles into its final shape...

Watched it tonight. The humor actually lands—really top-tier stuff—and the cast is solid. Most of them are faces you’ve definitely seen in various shows or movies. The robots themselves get pretty tedious toward the end, though, and the jokes start thinning out.

I am definitely going back for another viewing 🙏 It’s such a breath of fresh air coming out of Hollywood after those total disasters like Spider-Man and Pirates of the Caribbean...
Honestly, Bay and Spielberg really knocked it out of the park with this one...

I suppose it might be worth waiting until there's an official release on DVD or Blu-ray—if you've got a plasma or an LCD screen, then it'll be absolutely perfect.😁 If possible, I’d suggest watching it through WinDVD with that TRIMENSION*DNM effect turned on.😲

Total sensory overload. Just ninety minutes of pure visual chaos that hits you all at once. It’s actually hard to process because the camera moves way too fast for your brain to keep up with everything on screen...

Caught a screening at AMC Theatres today.

The humor lands perfectly, Megan is even better than expected, and those family dialogues? Pure genius. The soundtrack is a total vibe too. The lead actor definitely has potential—he just needs to find his own unique spark (haven't seen Paranoia yet, by the way). There are tons of easter eggs tucked in there, just like someone else already pointed out, and honestly, I don't need to say anything about those "greatest movie ever" claims.
Bottom line: it's a fun ride, but an 8.1 on IMDb feels a bit much (even compared to a masterpiece like Zodiac). I am just glad Rotten Tomatoes bumped up their impression with a score around 55%.

😍 Absolute banger of a movie—seriously, top-tier production value here. It’s worth the watch, no matter what 😍

It is a perfectly decent piece of cinema, really. While it boasts some of the most breathtaking visual effects I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing lately, the narrative itself remains quite rudimentary, peppered here and there with bits of humor. My primary grievance, however, lies in their decision to weave a romantic subplot into such a production; it felt somewhat misplaced. And regarding the lead actress—is there truly no other striking woman available to play the role of the driver?
There were certainly moments where the musical score leaned perhaps a bit too heavily into melodrama, yet all things considered, Michael Bay has proven once again that he possesses the capability to deliver a quality film. It is simply not a work one should attempt to take too seriously. If I were forced to assign it a grade, I would settle on an 8/10.
I find myself utterly incredulous seeing certain individuals here claim this was the pinnacle of filmmaking. Honestly, one really ought to cultivate a more sophisticated understanding of the medium. 🙂
