Solid effects. This movie was clearly built for the big screen—provided you're watching it in a theater with a top-tier sound system. That said, there was one thing that kept bugging me throughout the entire runtime. I just couldn't settle on a preference between the blonde and the brunette. At the start, the blonde definitely had the edge—she was just more striking. But then, at some point, I'd find myself leaning toward the brunette, only for the blonde to reappear and take the lead again. It was a constant back-and-forth. Even after the credits rolled, I was still stuck debating which one actually came out on top; the brunette seemed to have pulled ahead slightly, but even then, I wasn't 100% convinced. It wasn't until the next day—after doing a little digging online and scrolling through some stills—that I finally reached a verdict on this crucial debate. The winner is definitively the brunette 👍 🙏

this flick was actually great—I really enjoyed it
went to the theater, but honestly? Not feeling it; I much prefer watching movies at home

Did anyone actually wrap their head around the ending? 😕

Optimus Prime spends the entire movie preaching about how he’ll sacrifice himself if he can't take down Megatron. And then, well, he couldn't. So comes his big "sacrifice" -> Mulac just stuffs the Allspark right into his chest, there's some minor grumbling, Megatron is dead, Optimus is fine, everyone's happy...
I mean, where exactly was the sacrifice in that scenario!?

Also, what even happened to the rest of the Decepticons? It never clicked for me. I get the feeling they were just rushing to wrap up the movie as fast as possible.

Something else that bugged me: they barely showed the Decepticons at all (most of the screen time went to that little radio robot, and Megatron didn't even show up until way too late). They showed them fighting here and there, but NEVER showed them acting like a team or even talking to each other. That really bothered me, because I didn't really get the vibe of "powerful, organized villains."

Still, I thought the movie was pretty good. I can't wait for the sequel. I just hope the next one focuses immediately on the Transformers (especially the Decepticons!) rather than revolving around some teenager. And hopefully, the plot will be a bit more detailed—there were way too many random scenes that had nothing to do with the main story.

Oh, and did anyone notice that one (pretty major) blunder? When they introduced that Decepticon tank (which is actually named Brawl), they mislabeled him as Devastator. They mentioned that the Constructicons would show up in the sequel and that they could combine to form a much larger robot. Well, that robot is actually called Devastator. They kind of messed that up quite a bit 😬

So, I'm treating Transformers 1 as just an "intro." I'm hoping Transformers 2 has a slightly better, more detailed main plot, more robot-to-robot dialogue (especially with the Decepticons), and a climax that feels a bit more spectacular or, you know, clear.
We probably won't see Megatron anymore. I'm expecting a reincarnation in the form of Galvatron (but pleeeaaase, not just in the last thirty minutes again) and maybe even the appearance of the Dinobots 😎

I didn't really wrap my head around how the movie ended—like, Megatron just melting during that scene with the Cube
did the energy just surge right through him?
I've got some crappy, low-res version of the film at home, so I guess I'll have to rewatch the ending to make sense of it
plus, I was kind of expecting everyone to merge with Optimus Prime, you know, like they did in the cartoons

I caught a movie yesterday...
I’m honestly blown away by the visual effects and how far modern technology has come. Since it hit that sweet spot between sci-fi, action, and genuine humor, I really think it's worth checking out if you get the chance.

Well, since Optimus Prime was prepared to sacrifice himself by merging the Allspark with his own spark, it seems he figured Megatron was the more logical sacrifice...😁

As for the specific technicalities of how that actually went down, I think they've laid it out best here.

Based on my memory, supplemented by a quick bit of searching:

Devastator (the tank guy) gets blasted by Marines, while a wounded Bumblebee is hauled away by a tow truck driven by a mom.

Optimus Prime just decapitates Bonecrusher with his sword...

The Marine commander shoots Blackout (the helicopter) right in the transformer version of the groin.

Scorponok (the scorpion one) gets chased back into the sand by a Warthog and Spectre, leaving him without a tail...

And Barricade (the "to punish and enslave" guy 😎) seems to be half-forgotten and just sort of disappears by the end...?

Starscream (the F-22) flies off into orbit somewhere, probably halfway through his credit card debt...

Anyone up for Transformers 2...? 😁

Ugh, I really need to sit down and rewatch that one. It all went by way too fast, I guess. 😬

When is the DVD actually coming out? At least then I can pause or rewind whenever I want. 😬

Exactly
Watching this in a theater—it’s just panning the camera back and forth to fake some sense of momentum, though honestly, you can barely tell what's actually happening
Better off just rewinding and fast-forwarding at home👍

Hmm, I didn't really see this coming—the movie was actually awesome. A few of those jokes were freaking hilarious 😁

The only thing is, they could have easily cut those last 45 minutes of pseudo-fights down to maybe 20. Honestly, I got pretty damn tired of watching them beat the hell out of each other

Hmm, personally I would've preferred if they'd extended that highway chase by another five minutes...
For instance, I really missed a scene where the others get to "punish and enslave" 🙂

Honestly, this kept reminding me of Hellraiser multiple times; some of those scenes felt like a direct tribute to the movie. I mean, even the Allspark feels way too similar to this from the get-go:

And the absolute highlight for me was Megatron’s line: OH... SUCH UNWISE

It’s basically just Pinhead’s slow, drawn-out speech ☕

That guy put the Allspark in Megatron's chest, and that's basically how Megatron kicked the bucket.

This movie is just incredible. The special effects are insane and the whole thing is masterfully made. 🙏

The Allspark basically forced itself into Megatron; the kid didn't have much say in the matter. He couldn't have pulled away from the Allspark at that moment if he tried.

Anyone happen to know if there’s a soundtrack out for the movie, or maybe one in the works... I’m not really talking about that collection of filler tracks by random garage bands, but the actual score composed by Steve Jobs?

Yeah, I’m pretty much on board with what most people have been saying here. The action is dialed up to eleven, and the special effects? Absolutely top-tier. Even the supporting cast is solid for the most part. My only real gripe is that I feel like Tortellini totally sold out for the paycheck... 😢
When it comes to the main players, the real MVPs are the Transformers themselves and the voice actors behind them. Optimus... 🙏
Shia LaBeouf actually nailed his role, mostly because he played the "idiot" exactly how Bay wanted him to—so if you ask me, he killed it. On the flip side, Megan Fox... man, she just can't act. She tries, I guess, but it’s just not happening. Honestly, you should probably need more than just a certain physique to land a lead in these massive Hollywood blockbusters... 🙄

But even with all that, I actually really enjoyed the ride. It’s easily one of the best pure action flicks I’ve sat through in a while... 😉

driftingmason7 said:It is a perfectly decent piece of cinema, really. While it boasts some of the most breathtaking visual effects I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing lately, the narrative itself remains quite rudimentary, peppered here and there with bits of humor. My primary grievance, however, lies in their decision to weave a romantic subplot into such a production; it felt somewhat misplaced. And regarding the lead actress—is there truly no other striking woman available to play the role of the driver?
There were certainly moments where the musical score leaned perhaps a bit too heavily into melodrama, yet all things considered, Michael Bay has proven once again that he possesses the capability to deliver a quality film. It is simply not a work one should attempt to take too seriously. If I were forced to assign it a grade, I would settle on an 8/10.
I find myself utterly incredulous seeing certain individuals here claim this was the pinnacle of filmmaking. Honestly, one really ought to cultivate a more sophisticated understanding of the medium. 🙂

Give me a break. Since when does being good-looking mean you can't handle a car? LOL

I caught it as well. I really enjoyed the movie, especially the special effects, though even I couldn't quite wrap my head around the plot.
All things considered... it's worth seeing.
