Bone Marrow Donation

I think we were there on December 23rd—back during those days when they were running that pre-event promo over at Times Square in Washington, D.C.

Honestly, I was just wondering why we haven't received any kind of confirmation following the drive.
They didn't even mention—not once, mind you—that they'd be sending anything out via mail.

I was out with my partner today—they didn't mention sending anything, and honestly, we didn't even get a chocolate bar. 😢

I had this dream last night where I arrived at 2:55 and nobody was there anymore. I felt so crushed and just started sobbing... I guess I'm losing it too. 🤣

I went ahead and submitted my sample as well... and I have to say, it truly is a wonderful feeling! 🙂
We were given Coca-Cola, some pastries, a calendar, and even a badge...
They never mentioned anything about us receiving items through the mail.

I received my water and the TVIX results🙂
I was over at May Square to provide the sample, but I haven't heard anything back yet...🙄

Honestly, I don't know what you guys are even waiting for—when I went in to get tested at the Mayo Clinic, the doctor didn't mention anything about receiving stuff in the mail, nor did I ever actually receive anything.😕

Nothing gets sent back home. What are you guys even talking about??

The only time they actually reach out is if they find someone sick who needs a match specifically like you. That’s when you give your consent again and move on to the extra testing.

But wait, did you at least sign some kind of paperwork while you were there, and they kept a copy for their records?

Does everyone actually have to fill that out? I've got the paperwork sitting right here at my place

Ugh, look... with how crazy things are right now, they probably haven't even had a chance to make copies yet. We didn't get that paperwork either, and we're still waiting on it to show up at our place via USPS...

If you want, I can go ahead and ask more questions.

But, from what I understand, it wasn't actually because of the crowds (they could have easily used carbon paper, for example)—it's more that I have a feeling it isn't even standard procedure for us to get our own copy.

They need our information so they can contact us, right? But we already know our own details, don't we? It’s all right there on the first page.

As for the back of the form and that whole potential consent issue—that part is still a bit of a question mark. We agree to be added to the registry, but if we didn't agree to that, we wouldn't have shown up in the first place, so that seems obvious. Then there are other points like, "I consent to being contacted for renewed consent." This isn't some formal contract or legal document. If you actually become a donor, then further procedures follow. Honestly, I'm not really sure how this expanded edition would even work, considering there are already 13,000 people involved.

A doctor over at the Mayo Clinic—the one heading up this whole initiative—confirmed that you won't be receiving anything in the mail. So, just take a deep breath and try to relax. 😁

You can always just head over to the Mayo Clinic—that’s what I do, anyway.
