If you're looking for some inspiration, I’d really suggest checking out the score for "Alexander" by Vangelis, or maybe diving into "Batman" by Danny Elfman, which is just classic, or even "Once Upon a Time in Mexico"—I can't quite recall the composer's name off the top of my head, but it's great! Also, "Woman on Top" (it's got this awesome Brazilian vibe, honestly brilliant), the incredible "The Lord of the Rings" by Howard Shore, and "The English Patient"... if I happen to think of anything else later on, I'll definitely post an update for you all.

As some people have pointed out, the *Streets of Fire* score is fantastic, but it might not work well as background music because those are legitimate rock tracks...

And you absolutely must try to get your hands on *The Warriors* soundtrack...

I have *SoF* on CD, so if you want, I can rip it to an MP3 or something and email it over to you,
but if you manage to track down *The Warriors* (I currently have it on cassette), shoot me an email.🙂

When it comes to the fantasy genre, that's definitely one of the top tier picks. Otherwise—it’s just an average soundtrack overall.

Oh, for sure 👍 that soundtrack was easily the one I played on loop more than anything else. Honestly, I’ve been on a huge Danny Elfman kick lately too. If we're talking about how perfectly a score fits the vibe of a film—I mean, how it feels like the whole movie was actually built around the songs—nothing beats Donnie Darko. It’s seamless. I also still have a massive soft spot for the Himmer über Berlin OST and pretty much anything by Ennio Morricone.

Lost Highway is such a strangely relaxing blend of Lou Reed, The Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, Rammstein, and Nine Inch Nails, mixed with just enough jazz and bossa nova...😁

I also really love the soundtrack for I am Sam, especially those Beatles covers, they’re perfect to have playing in the background while you're tidying up the house...🙂

And honestly, I think The Lord of the Rings soundtracks—especially The Two Towers—are absolute must-haves for any collection. Just don't listen to the haters...😛

Sean Nguyen said:"Once Upon a Time in Mexico" — honestly, I can't remember who did the score,

That’s Rodriguez himself! Man, he's a total musician through and through. He actually wrote parts of the music for Sin City and From Dusk Till Dawn too—like, all those original tracks on the soundtracks were his work.

Badalamenti composed music for the game Fahrenheit as well.

Personally, one of my favorite soundtracks has to be from The Virgin Suicides.

You really need to watch the movie, and specifically listen to the music by Air.

👍 👍

I totally blanked on mentioning the Until the End of the World soundtrack. It’s easily one of those soundtracks that gets way too little credit—honestly, a total shame.

It’s a bit of a sad truth, honestly—if we're talking about sheer impact, Donnie Darko is the ultimate. Vanilla Sky has such a beautiful score, though it's a shame how the movie itself falls short. I can't quite place it right now.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But if we're talking about pure, unadulterated respect—specifically regarding the talent for packing the world's best music into their films—there is only one name: Gregg Araki.😍Is there even a dedicated thread for his work... or should I just start shouting "injustice!" right now?

Early jam sessions, heaps of Slowdive, Ride, Sigur Rós, Cocteau Twins, and Robin Guthrie's solo stuff—plus Suede, Lush, New Order. Then there's Air. And Josh from Slowdive.😍
Pizzicato Five.
Massive Attack...

I truly can't decide whether I love his films more or his soundtracks.

Did I seriously just mention a mountain of Slowdive in every single movie? 😍

And what exactly is your own particular issue, kid?

I don't recall ever mocking your posts—not once.

So, just dial it back a bit.

Cinnamon? Good heavens, why? 😁

I honestly can't bring myself to watch 'Singles' again these days—not without some hesitation. I have this lingering feeling deep down—just fragments of scenes floating in my mind—and I'm terrified I'll just end up disappointed. Hmm.

You see, that’s never happened to me with 'Grease' 😁 ... since we are discussing legendary soundtracks. *Hopelessly Devoted to You*—it just hits differently. 😍
