Saw II

So I just binged through Saw and Saw II back-to-back, and honestly? The sequel left me feeling a little let down. The first one was absolutely killer—that ending where the old man gets up and drops the "game over" line was legendary. Don't get me wrong, the second movie isn't total trash, and that scene where the guy gets set on fire in the furnace was pretty wild...

I’ve sat through both of them now. Honestly, the first one is absolute gold, though I have to admit the sequel feels a bit more lackluster to me. My biggest gripe? There are just way too many people crammed into that house. It starts off strong enough when they’re all locked in that single room, but once the scale expands, everything just kind of falls apart. I’ve always felt that when horror movies try to throw a massive crowd at you, the actual plot gets buried under the noise, and you lose all those gritty, small details that actually make a movie scary.

I finally finished watching that absolute garbage of a sequel today. I started it about a week ago with plenty of skepticism, and honestly? I fell asleep. And you know never fall asleep in front of the TV, no matter how dull the movie is. Sure, the first one was great—most people agree the ending caught everyone off guard—but this was just bottom-tier. The acting isn't an improvement over the original, though you don't expect much. The script was a disaster, and the ending was painfully predictable. The whole "woman involved with a psychopath" trope was obvious from miles away.
Still, at least the memory of the first film remains intact. 😍
Oh, right, I nearly forgot: Dina Meyer should have had a much larger role. She isn't exactly an actress, but she’s stunning. 👍

The movie drops in October. (Though it probably won't hit theaters here in the States until January or something along those lines)

I actually downloaded it about a month ago... it’s not bad, but the first one was definitely better for me. The sequel lacks that deep, "wait, what just happened?" mystery—it trades the clever puzzles for much more intense, gritty scenes, I guess.

Has anyone here watched House of Nine with Kelly Brook? I caught it yesterday, and honestly, it felt like I was watching Saw; the plot is remarkably similar where everyone is kidnapped and trapped in a house, except instead of being given twisted tasks, they're just handed guns. And, naturally, everyone ends up killing each other.

Personally, I actually preferred House of Nine over Saw, primarily because of how the ending played out.

Does the title "House of Nine" actually translate to Hostel?? Has anyone here actually sat through Hostel yet?
I've heard some chatter suggesting it’s similar to Saw II, though supposedly with a much more coherent plot... I'm curious to hear what you all think about it.
As for Saw III, I find myself wondering how it’s going to play out; since we already know who the main villain is from the previous installment, is there really anything left to surprise us in a third chapter? Personally, I still feel the first one was definitely the best of the bunch...

As for the plot, here is the breakdown: Jigsaw kidnaps a nurse named Lynn, whom he needs to keep him alive so he can preside over one final game. This game involves a grieving father named Jeff, who finds himself in a room with the people responsible for his son's death. He is faced with a choice: trigger the traps and watch them die in the most horrific ways possible, or step in to help them.

Saw II is alright, but honestly, the first one is just better. It’s one of a kind and nothing else touches it.
