Ocean's Twelve (and a little bit of 11 and 13)

I caught it last night. It’s not a bad flick. Fun, sure, but maybe a little too confusing for its own good. Whatever, I'll probably just watch it again whenever it hits DVD, so I don't really care either way. 😁

The first one was such a letdown; I really had high hopes,
apparently the second one is even worse,
honestly, if it wasn't for Brad, I wouldn't even bother, but just
because of him,
I'll force a smile and give it a watch.
To be real, I’ve realized that most movies featuring a big lineup of "NAMES" end up being incredibly dull, confusing, and just plain silly,
though I’m sure most film buffs have already figured that out too (don't come for me!)😁

The first one was great.
The second was just okay.

Both movies are saved by the acting.

Man, that "twelve is the new eleven" disclaimer on the poster? It’s giving me seriously weird vibes.

[And that guy took the tagline off *The Core*; you know, the "the only way out is in" one. Good grief, just give me the job... what do I know? How about "he got even by getting odd"... for some Ben Stiller flick, maybe? Or a Matrix midquel. Actually, the last one sounds better, because Ben Stiller is honestly pretty cool.]

haha what a total snooze fest of a movie.....

I haven't seen the first one, but I watched the sequel yesterday. To me, the whole thing feels more like a bad movie. While the original was just a bad movie, they clearly made this sequel because they were having a blast on set and had too much money to burn. That's my take on it anyway...

The movie is an absolute disaster.
While certain individual segments might have worked as standalone short films—maybe even been somewhat cool on their own—as a complete package, the whole thing is just pathetic.
The dramatic structure is non-existent, there's zero plot to speak of, and you can't follow a single thread; ultimately, it fails to land any of the intended emotional beats.
It’s honestly such a shame for Steven Soderbergh—he really didn't need to go this far down the wrong path.

And that one part, where we get to see Vincent Cassel dancing through those laser beams... it was 😂
though I will say, the soundtrack is decent enough 😁\

plus, Brad Pitt has a killer tattoo 😍\

I actually enjoyed the movie—it didn't blow my mind quite like the first one did, but it was definitely solid enough. 👍
I suspect Steven Soderbergh was aiming for something more cerebral here, which ultimately meant you had to engage your brain a bit more than you did with the original... a fact that clearly rubbed some people the wrong way. 😁
Anyway, it’s the kind of flick worth a second viewing. 🙂

Just one more subjective FEMALE take for the road:
The cast is top-tier; George Clooney is 😍 and Vincent Cassel is annoyingly handsome—🙂 even Brad Pitt looks great with that short hair.
Julia Roberts looks terrible, 😲 almost sickly thin, whereas Catherine Zeta-Jones is an absolute knockout.
So, there you have it. 😉

Did Marc seriously screw over his student? Was it because of his daughter? 😕

And honestly, you can't just breeze through the first one; the second one is actually what makes you stop and think. Not everyone is going to wrap their head around that, though.

I honestly can't tell if they actually intended for this plot to make sense, or if the whole thing was just some massive joke playing on that "genius heist movie" trope.
spoiler: I mean, seriously, why the hell did they stage that entire elaborate heist in Rome if they had already swiped the goods before they even reached the city?

All in all: two strikes against it.

The acting and the soundtrack are actually solid.
Especially the music—that bit at the beginning and the end? Pretty good.
But man, the plot... it's just total filler. Probably the worst part of the whole thing.

You've got to be kidding me, right? She’s pregnant, and there is absolutely no hiding it—no matter how hard they try to mask it... it's just so obvious... honestly, it's all so incredibly old-fashioned...
Vincent was easily the most eye candy in the whole lineup... the dancing was, uh, well... let's just say it was something else, but even I had to admit the music was actually pretty good, and that final scene... well...
Brad is absolutely devastating in this one... that tattoo just ruins him...😁
The film was actually quite entertaining... I didn't fall asleep, which, honestly, says a lot...
Fortunately, I tend to forget reviews like this once I step out of the theater, but I suppose I got exactly what I expected...
I would have much preferred to watch Firefighter, but the terminology was absolutely critical... so this one ended up being the most acceptable option.

Honestly, I haven't even seen Ocean's 11, so I basically just stumbled into this one totally blind—it was actually pretty good, though. No brainpower required at all. 😁 Plus, I had almost the entire theater to myself at the AMC in downtown Chicago (caught the 1:15 PM showing, because I live for those mid-day screenings 🙂).
