I really gotta hand it to you, I tip my hat to you. You're honestly way too young to be dealing with all those horrors. I guess we just have to pray that God helps us out and keeps this little bit of health we have safe for everyone.

In reality, it’s likely just hard stool passing through an inflamed area, which scrapes those surface capillaries and triggers bleeding. I guess you might try taking Detralex, but maybe you should consult a primary care physician first.

So, it's not hemorrhoids? You mean it won't resolve on its own just by changing my diet or using various creams, and I actually have to see a doctor? Because I should mention, there is a slight stinging sensation when I touch the area or apply pressure—nothing extreme, but it's definitely there.

Look, I’m dealing with this too—frequent, loose stools, and sometimes they come with this weirdly acidic breath, though not every single time.
So, what's the deal here? What could it be?
I haven't even changed anything in my diet.

And you aren't dealing with any other weird symptoms—like, say, being backed up for a few days and then suddenly having loose stools for a bit, or dealing with cramps and losing weight?

If none of that extra stuff is happening, it’s honestly probably just stress or you're hitting the coffee way too hard.

- those are just internal hemorrhoids (nothing more than swelling with surface capillaries), go see your doctor. They'll probably give you some cream for the itching and pain, maybe a little ointment, and for the bleeding, I'm currently taking Detralex—all following Dr. Smud's advice.

The soft stool issue isn't an intestinal problem; it’s about what you're putting in your body or how your body processes it. And that acidic breath? It can actually be normal. Maybe you're eating small amounts, so everything digests too easily, making things soft. The golden rule for patients is that your body knows when it's sick. If you feel like your body is trying to tell you something, listen to it. Go talk to a doctor.
Good luck and cheers

Glad you reached out today; I have some new updates to share. The bleeding has actually stopped. Since I changed my diet—basically just eating whatever was easiest at the moment—there’s no more blood at all, not even a trace when wiping. It feels a bit strange how sudden this change was, though I suppose it might be related to the fact that my stools have been soft lately instead of hard like they used to be. 😕

Watch out, because this stuff comes back easy. You should stick to soft foods for a few weeks to let everything heal up. Wounds in the gut take forever to close because of all the bacteria and that damp environment in there. I’m glad you’re feeling better, but seriously—don't spend ages sitting on the toilet, don't strain, and stay away from anything that hits your system hard. Avoid the crunchy stuff like peanuts and definitely skip the heavy hitters like red wine or hard liquor. It sucks, I know, but there's no other way.
Two months after my surgery, I bled out completely today. The paper was soaked through with mucus. It felt like something just snapped, and I have no clue why. I already grabbed another pack of Detralex, and now I have to see my doctor to get some iron supplements so I don't end up anemic.
I've been dealing with this whole mess for a year and a half now and it's driving me insane. Being sick is absolutely miserable.
Hang in there, people.

Yeah, there’s really no other way. I know, right now I’m sticking to the south—veggies, fruit, light meals. There hasn't been any blood, but today I did notice some mucus, nothing major, but it was visible. Is that better than blood, or is it just as bad 🙄 ? Or maybe it's the same 🙄
Hang in there. I can only imagine what you're going through; seeing a little blood actually spooked me (I'm not usually squeamish, I don't mind visible injuries since I play sports—breaks and sprains are normal for me—but this comes from a "different" place, and it's unsettling). Something like what happened to you... uh, I actually got chills reading those last three phases.

I don't quite get how that mucus works. My guess is it’s the first line of defense that regenerates. Once that layer is gone, the tissue and capillaries are just sitting there, wide open to being scraped by... well, you know. That’s just my theory, but I’m pretty sure about it. Now, things should ideally settle down so the mucus can come back and protect the raw spot. Might be best to move my bathroom trips to earlier in the evening, so everything can recover during sleep, and maybe stick to water instead of food when things start bleeding. Who knows.
Anyway, my movements today were totally normal. I’m almost ready to get back to training or hitting the trails to pick asparagus before the snakes get to them.

Yeah, I guess a break is needed now. The real issue with trying to go before bed is this constant sensation that I need to use the bathroom when I actually can't; it's just a false urge, and honestly, that’s what irritates me the most. I sit down and nothing happens, yet I feel this "pressure" all day long. I'm just waiting for it to stop—it's more bothersome than any bleeding. I was just in there a moment ago, though; no blood, just noticed some mucus, and the stool was small, which makes sense since I haven't been eating much lately. I even put a pillow on the toilet seat just to make sitting more comfortable, lol, though I spend most of my days on the couch anyway. I think I'll skip dinner tonight—maybe just some yogurt and water should be enough. It really is nice being healthy...

Got my bloodwork back yesterday, and the results show my hemoglobin is just a hair below average. My doctor handed me two packs of iron supplements to build up my reserves and told me to grab some Detralex and Factu chewables to go along with it. I’ve got a follow-up with the surgeon on the 13th, but overall, she says this is just how things have to play out for me. Since the surgery, my bowel movements have been irregular, which irritates my gut, and those leftover hemorrhoids just get inflamed from all that extra activity. Trying to find a little bit of optimism in all this grayness. Looking forward to feeling a bit better.

Bajo, stay strong. I know how awful it feels to be sick. For years, I dealt with hands that were cracked, inflamed, and bleeding. No doctor and no cream ever helped; it was just a disaster of thick, hardened skin building up. I think I passed it from some plant on my hands over to my feet. I got married when I was 32, and my husband was 35. He beat jaw cancer when he was 22, so it didn't bother me—I loved him. We wed in June 1993. I got pregnant around N. G. 1994. It ended with me in the hospital with heavy bleeding, and I gave birth prematurely at 32 weeks. My husband was terrified, though his ear had been bothering him for a while. Back in February 1994, he told me he’d live until N. G. 1995, just so I could raise our little guy right and make sure he grew up to be a good man. While I was fighting to save one person or another, my husband passed away exactly on N. G., just like he said. He was in the hospital and I was at home, but I knew the exact moment he was leaving us. My boy is a great kid now, 14 years old and finishing 8th grade. NOW, LET ME TELL YOU HOW I FIXED MY HANDS. It was honestly terrifying. Once everything finally settled down, I actually listened to my mom. She kept telling me her boss used to treat her hands back in the 50s by rubbing them with pokeweed (look it up on Google; apparently, it's good for hemorrhoids too). So, I rubbed my hands with it for almost a year, and they healed. There's this lady who teaches biology at the local school; she has it on her neck right now. She writes about plants and takes them to state competitions, but she wanders around seeing doctors and won't believe me. I tell her that even though she teaches kids about medicinal herbs, she doesn't believe in them herself, and she just gives me this weird look. I guess she's worried about what I'll do if I actually cure her... silly woman. I suppose we all suffer alone, far apart from one another, even when we're healthy. Peace...

Ugh, I hate this. The bleeding has stopped, but I feel like something internal just slips out whenever I'm in the restroom, though it seems to slide right back in immediately. I can actually feel the "bulge" when I check with my finger, and I can push it back in easily—exactly how it's described. I guess there isn't any over-the-counter cream that could actually help with this?

Daflon tablets $33—you can get them over the counter. I take one in the morning and one before bed; they help close up those swollen veins. If things are bleeding more than usual, I step it up to two in the morning, two in the afternoon, and two at night. That’s my current routine.
Faktu suppositories—these creamy ones you use at night or after a bowel movement. You keep them right where the inflammation is, and they actually work. They help me out, no prescription needed, $10, that's what I'm using.
- I feel better with this combo, plus I'm taking iron, and that's basically it. Just make sure you read the instructions in the manual.

hang in there
Your story really hit home. It was incredibly honest. Since I'm pretty happy with how my recovery is going right now, I'm not going to start loading up on extra stuff just so my body doesn't get used to it, but if things start heading south, I'm coming back to your post. My dad passed away when I was nine, and it's only now that I truly understand what my mom went through—all the sacrifices she made and the limitations she lived with. Even with all that, she still managed to be the best mom ever. I hope you and your son find all the happiness and love that God owes you.

Best,

But there isn't any bleeding at all, just mucus. I honestly don't even know if it's hemorrhoids, but when I strain, something bulges out—it basically "protrudes" from its spot—and then once I'm finished in the restroom, it settles back down inside. Plus, I have this constant sensation that I need to go; it’s just small amounts at first until a real bowel movement finally happens.

I’ve been scrolling through this thread for ages, trying to find someone who actually describes what I’m going through, but honestly, nothing seems to fit quite right. It leaves me wondering if I’m even dealing with hemorrhoids at all, but I’m desperate for some insight here.

Here’s the deal: about two days ago, out of nowhere, this pain started up just above my tailbone—but it’s not surface-level, it feels deep inside. And I’m not talking about that typical "scraping" sensation or that burning feeling everyone else seems to talk about; it’s more of this heavy, dull ache, almost like I took a blunt hit there or something, even though nothing actually happened. The pain isn't constant, though; it flares up depending on how I’m sitting or standing, and it gets absolutely brutal when I’m straining or trying to handle business in the bathroom. And let me tell you, "handling business" is being generous—it’s exactly like someone else said, it feels like you’re trying to pass a whole pineapple. It’s not the actual movement of things passing through that hurts, but rather that deep, thudding ache whenever I have to push or strain. This might sound ridiculous, but if I get into a specific position—kind of like a yoga kama sutra pose, haha—the pain eases up enough that I can actually manage to finish.

There’s no blood in my stool. And thankfully, everything is soft, because if it weren't, I don't think I’d stand a chance of getting anything out. But the passage feels narrowed, so I’m starting to worry there might be some kind of obstruction happening.

So, does this sound like an internal hemorrhoid to you guys, or could it be something else entirely?

I read somewhere that hemorrhoids usually settle down overnight, but that hasn't been my experience at all. I barely slept a wink last night because every time I shifted into a certain position in bed, the pain would spike so hard it jolted me wide awake.

So, is this just an internal hemorrhoid, or could it be something else altogether?

Someone mentioned that hemorrhoids usually settle down overnight, but I barely slept a wink last night because certain random positions while sleeping triggered the pain so sharply it woke me right up.

Man, seriously, go see a doctor... you shouldn't mess around with this stuff...

Narrow stools and pain...😢

Here is the breakdown of what I'm experiencing: about two days ago, out of nowhere, I started feeling pain in the area just above the rectum—but it isn't external. It’s internal. And I don't mean that scraping sensation or burning feeling that most people seem to describe here. It’s more of a dull, heavy ache, almost like I took a blunt hit to the area when nothing actually happened. The pain isn't constant; it flares up depending on how I'm positioned, and it becomes particularly intense when I'm straining or trying to pass a stool. To put it bluntly, the actual process is miserable. As someone else aptly put it, it feels like you're trying to pass a whole pineapple. It isn't the movement of the stool itself through the colon that hurts, but rather that deep, dull throbbing specifically during the straining and pressure. This might sound a bit ridiculous, but if I adopt a specific posture while on the toilet (like a squatting position, if you catch my drift), the intensity drops enough that I can manage to finish.

There is no blood in my stool. The consistency is soft, which makes sense because otherwise, there'd be no way anything would move at all. However, the stool is very thin, which leads me to suspect there might be some kind of obstruction.

So, is this likely an internal hemorrhoid, or could it be something else altogether?

Someone mentioned that hemorrhoids tend to subside overnight, but that hasn't been my experience. I barely slept a wink because certain spontaneous positions during the night trigger such sharp pain that it wakes me right up.

I don't want to alarm you, but stools that are thin like a pencil can sometimes be a red flag for colon cancer.

I went to see my doctor about this mucus situation; I've had enough of it. I'm scheduled for some stool tests and blood work next week to get to the bottom of things. I don't have any actual pain or bleeding, just this constant mucus that keeps sending me to the bathroom—it's just a little bit at a time. Once I actually have a real bowel movement, it's soft, but not pencil-thin like people say; it seems like a normal thickness once it finally arrives. 😠Well, I just finished in the restroom, and yeah, it was soft and a normal size, but what does that even matter if it's probably just going to trigger more of that mucus later on...
