I have struggled with hemorrhoids my entire life, but I can't wrap my head around how they suddenly become so swollen and protrude on their own like that.

Ever since I gave birth (about two and a half months ago), they just won't go away. I actually went through two full boxes of Daflon, but then the bleeding started all over again. And don't even get me started on the pain. Honestly, after those two boxes, I don't feel even a tiny bit better.🙂
The absolute worst part is that I've always dealt with really hard stools. To be honest, it’s genuinely distressing when I know I have to use the bathroom because I know exactly what kind of torture is waiting for me.😢 I would honestly rather go through labor all over again than deal with this nightmare; luckily, I don't have to go every single day. But on the days I do, I end up sweating like I just finished running a full marathon... it is an absolute disaster.

I am just at a total loss as to what to do next.🤷

There is this wonderful herbal cream from Italy that was a total lifesaver for me. I'll check my cabinets at home to see exactly what it's called and let you know.

You really need to drink massive amounts of fluids—plain water works fine for me, though people around here seem to swear by Perrier—much more than you think you need. Also, try eating way more salads and leafy greens, and that should help soften things up...

I have struggled with hemorrhoids for as long as I can remember, but I simply cannot wrap my head around how they suddenly become so swollen and protruding all on their own.

Ever since I gave birth about two and a half months ago, they haven't let up at all. I actually went through two full boxes of Daflon hoping for relief, but instead, the bleeding just started right back up again. And don't even get me started on the pain—it's unbearable. Even after finishing those two boxes, I haven't felt even a shred of improvement. 🙂
To make matters worse, I've dealt with chronic constipation my entire life. Honestly, it’s such a dreadful feeling whenever I know I have to use the restroom, because I know exactly what kind of physical torture is waiting for me on the other side. 😢 I would genuinely rather go through labor all over again than endure this struggle, though thankfully, it isn't a daily occurrence. But on those days when it does happen, I end up breaking out in a sweat like I've just finished running a marathon... it is truly a disaster.

I am honestly at a loss as to what steps to take next. 🤷

The cream I use is called Eucerin.

Here’s my story!
About seven months ago, this incredibly painful lump popped up just an inch above my tailbone.
The pain was absolutely unbearable. For three days, I could barely sleep without popping some Voltaren Rapid, eventually waking up at 2 AM to get ready for work, only to find BLOOD everywhere—on my underwear, the sheets... honestly, I nearly had a heart attack.
The lump had burst (I found out later from searching online and talking to my doctor that it was a perianal abscess)!
Once it popped, the pain finally vanished, and I thought, "Well, that's that!" But man, was I wrong. That was just the beginning. Instead of healing, it left this little channel that just wouldn't close up, so I knew I had to see a specialist. I headed over to Tucson to see Dr. Turjak (funny enough, given the situation 😁), and after a rectal exam (which isn't actually painful, just super uncomfortable), he diagnosed me with a perianal fistula! I was freaking out; I had no idea what I was getting into.
He sent me for a Mayo Clinic imaging test, but neither Facebook nor the Chicago Bulls clinic could get it done right away!
I went back to see the surgeon at the clinic; she’s fantastic because she actually talks to you instead of treating you like a piece of meat. She scheduled me for a colonoscopy—basically a rectoscopy using a colonoscope. It’s not agonizing, just awkward, and besides the fact that it’s a woman performing the procedure... 😂 ...!!!
The rectal exam came back normal. Then I had a pelvic MRI, and that was clear too!! Thank God.
But the issue persists. Every now and then, I've got yellow discharge or pus leaking from the anus, and some fluid trickling from that little opening. Back at the doctor, she performed a fistula probing with a metal probe. Basically, she inserts the probe into the hole to check the depth, and it seems like it isn't too deep. Fingers crossed!!

I have to head to the hospital tomorrow, and I'm scheduled for surgery this Friday. 🤷
I'm pretty nervous, but honestly, I'm just fed up. Dealing with this tension and pain in my tailbone every few days—especially when I'm having a bowel movement—is driving me crazy.
If anyone else has gone through this, please hit me up today and let me know how it went!!

Hey there!

I'm finally heading home today after spending 5 days at Vincennes Hospital, and now I've got about 3-4 weeks of recovery ahead of me!
The surgery itself wasn't actually that painful, but man, the way I've been recovering over these last 4 days... it's been a total coma!
Anyway, the sooner I can get back on my feet, the better!👍

To be honest, there was a time when I didn't even truly grasp what hemorrhoids actually were; I just stumbled upon this thread while searching for answers regarding my own situation. Usually, whenever I’d indulge in something particularly spicy, the very next day I’d deal with this intense stinging sensation around my backside, which would drag on for two or three days, making it pretty much impossible to walk comfortably. It happened a few times like that. There wasn't any blood or anything of the sort, just a lot of burning. I was actually terrified to even take a look at what was going on 🙂 but one day I finally checked, and I noticed these pretty large patches around my anus—they're completely dry, yet they just won't go away. Has anyone here dealt with something similar who might be able to offer some advice? Thanks.

Alright, I've got a question here.
For a few years now, every couple of months or so, I deal with what I assume is a hemorrhoid. It’s just this little lump by the anus that hurts if I touch it or if I squeeze my muscles. On the flip side, having a massive bowel movement isn't an issue—no pain there, and my stool is usually fine, though sometimes it's hard and sometimes soft depending on whatever random stuff I ate. The lump just clears up on its own after a few days.
Since this "latest lump" is hurting a bit more than usual—I can actually feel the pressure when I'm standing for too long—I'm wondering what I should use to treat it. Is just some chamomile tea enough? Or should I go grab some kind of cream?🤷

I can't believe everyone's hemorrhoids actually cleared up already!😉

Quick question: do thongs make them worse or contribute to the problem?
Thanks so much!

👍 for your reading pleasure

👎 specifically for those moments spent on the porcelain throne

Ever since I abandoned the habit of retreating to that small little room where even kings are forced to walk on their own two feet

I have noticed a significant reduction in my struggles with hemorrhoids...

dustyowl29 said:Usually, you should be done in just a few minutes—if it’s taking longer than that, you definitely need to change something up, maybe grab some thicker paper...
Sitting on the toilet for ages puts way too much pressure on your rear end and pushes those veins down, which obviously speeds up the whole hemorrhoid situation...
So, get in and out in a couple of minutes, then go back to reading the news over a cup of coffee...
If things are feeling a bit too hard, don't strain—just take something or have some tea to soften things up...
Like Gerolsteiner, for instance...

Facts.👍 Plus, your legs start falling asleep, so it’s really not worth the struggle. It's way better to read the paper while sipping coffee, and when nature calls, just hit the bathroom quickly. Then head right back to your reading.

It sounds like you might be dealing with a perianal abscess. You really need to see a surgeon. They'll perform a quick drainage to make sure it doesn't turn into a perianal fistula (which happened to me), and then you're looking at a much bigger headache!

That's it—I've officially cut out alcohol entirely, and I'm about to hit the two-month mark.

Just try a cream from Delta Airlines.
Works like a charm for me and I haven't had a single relapse since.👍

Aaron Gonzalez6 said:So yeah, I finally quit drinking too, and I’ve been stone-cold sober for almost two full months now.

Of course, when I was down at the coast recently and my granddad was flipping fish on the grill, I washed the whole meal down with sparkling water. My grandma actually ended up pouring water over his plate later because he wasn't used to someone pairing fish with mineral water. Talk about discipline! Honestly, though, I told him next time I’ll just have a drop of wine to smooth things over, even if red wine is basically death for hemorrhoids.

It’s a bit much for me to wade through this entire thread, so if I could just jump in with a quick question:

Is laser surgery actually painless, and how long is the typical stay at the hospital or a private clinic?

Also, if anyone happens to know what the costs are looking like lately.

Thanks.

Hmm, not sure about the costs, but I know there’s a great doctor over at Lincoln in Chicago. Dealing with hemorrhoids means watching what you eat—take plenty of magnesium and make sure you clean up well after every bathroom trip. Also, for those who are able and interested, anal sex is actually proven to help! As long as you're careful, obviously. And whatever you do, don't sit on anything cold!

Haha... look, you're not being difficult. You're just trying to help people based on what actually worked for you. I’ve been there myself—I definitely went overboard trying to "pitch" Pfizer to everyone. People will eventually realize it was coming from a good place.

I deal with hemorrhoids pretty often myself
and everyone in my family has dealt with the same nightmare
honestly, the best remedy I've found is just plain lard
just whip it up until it's white as whipped cream and they'll recede in a day
they do come back eventually, though, but I had to try every single cream at the drugstore for way too long before finding what works

I can't deal with reading all these threads... help me out here!
I've been dealing with occasional bloody stools for a while now. There’s no pain involved, just a little bit of blood... It usually happens when I'm having a hard stool, but lately, it's even happening with softer ones, which is starting to freak me out a bit... So, what does an actual exam look like? I keep putting it off, but I really need to know.

So, let me see if I actually got that right—are you saying I should stay far away from red wine if I'm dealing with hemorrhoid issues?😕
