Back again with an update 😬

Basically, before I finally accepted that I was dealing with hemorrhoids, my diet was heavy every single day, I was stressed out, and I was sitting way too much...
Since then, for the last week, I've been sticking to soups and fruit yogurts, cutting back on bread and sweets, and skipping the meat and pizza. Everything feels great!! Maybe for me, this was just a temporary flare-up or a passing phase. I'm not entirely sure how it cleared up, but I hope it stays that way. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone for the help and advice!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you all get past this nasty, frustrating issue soon too... it’s honestly a nightmare when you can't just help your body get rid of unnecessary "extra baggage".... talk to you later!!

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a quick question... for about the last year now, I've been seeing some blood when I go to the bathroom. It isn't constant—sometimes it happens two days in a row, then nothing for a week, sometimes even a month—and I get this stinging sensation afterward. I’ve noticed it usually flares up after I eat spicy food or after a heavy night of drinking. The blood isn't dark either; it's bright red. Based on what I've been reading on here, everything points toward hemorrhoids and bleeding, especially since my job keeps me sitting down for 5 or 6 hours at a time, which I know doesn't help matters. So, should I be worried that this might be something more serious and actually go see a doctor? Or should I just start tweaking my diet, try some of those creams people mention on the forum, and maybe step up my hygiene game after using the restroom?

Man... I know I really shouldn't be touching red wine, but I ended up knocking back about seven glasses yesterday... and of course, I felt the immediate fallout. It’s honestly my absolute favorite thing to drink. It’s just a matter of when it happens, but I know I'll have to face surgery eventually.

So, I went to see a specialist today...

And he tells me that "external" hemorrhoids aren't even a separate thing on their own.

Apparently, they're all just internal hemorrhoids, and some of them just happen to be external too...

Just great. Absolute nonsense.

Elvis Presley, I really don't want to cause you any unnecessary worry, but if those changes don't start to subside, you should definitely go see a doctor!
Those are the kind of symptoms that make a physician look at you and ask, "Where on earth have you been?"
It probably isn't anything serious, but it's always better to be safe than sorry, so try tracking those specific changes you mentioned and then see if things settle down.

Has anyone here dealt with both hemorrhoids and an anal fissure at the same time?

I'm looking for some real-world insight on dealing with an anal fissure.

Thanks.

Alright, quick question. I know we’re all told we need to move more, but does that actually apply to cycling? Since you’re basically just sitting there anyway, isn't there still that constant pressure on everything...

In my opinion, nothing beats a good old-fashioned walk or some steady hiking.

Thanks.

Look, whenever you’re feeling that burning sensation down there, you really ought to just bite the bullet and go for a digital rectal exam—you know, the finger thing—just so a proctologist can actually see what’s going on inside your rectum. 😁 I actually had one once and it wasn't even that big of a deal; my ex basically dragged me there because of something she was dealing with (and man, she was easy on the eyes, lol).

I honestly think a lot of people are actually dealing with a fistula (good point, feralcyclist67) instead of just hemorrhoids (or maybe both), which can happen when a severe case of hemorrhoids gets inflamed. (Supposedly, a nasty inflammation can tear the hemorrhoids, and then it mixes with waste and gets infected, creating a pocket of pus inside the rectum—that's an anal fistula. When you go to the bathroom, it hurts just like hemorrhoids because the waste scrapes against the fissure, or it might even force some pus out through the opening if it's on the outer part due to pressure—of course, that's gotta hurt.)

It's totally possible this is what's happening, especially if you notice a ton of mucus leaking after a bowel movement (which is actually pus, since the waste tears the fistula). So, how do you know for sure? A digital rectal exam—seriously, it's no biggie. If everything is healthy in there, getting through the exam shouldn't be hard at all, whether it's a rectoscopy or a colonoscopy.

No doubt about it, if it really is a fistula, you're going to need surgery—supposedly it's a "piece of cake."

ps: Btw why are you asking? Do you already suspect you have one, or are you just wondering..?

**********
In my opinion, hemorrhoids usually clear up with the right treatment—eating soft foods, staying active, and sticking to a diet—but a fistula isn't going anywhere on its own. That's why a fistula can often trigger new capillary inflammation, or vice versa. Just a thought.

Back again with some updates and my latest thoughts... 😬
I’m still convinced I have internal hemorrhoids. I can actually feel something "guiding" things along when I go. Thankfully, the pain and bleeding disappeared about two weeks ago—thank God. I spent this past week out on the coast where the routine was pretty intense, haha. Lots of movement and the water was freezing, which I think really helped. I’m staying strict with my diet and everything else... we'll see if I can manage to heal this on my own, if that's even possible.
I want to thank everyone once more for every bit of advice and comfort you've offered. Dealing with hemorrhoids is honestly miserable. I'm rooting for all of you; I hope things improve for you and that you have a great summer! 🙂

Well, here I am again, six years post-op.
It was a triploid case, and the doctor nailed it. It’s been one week since the procedure, and honestly? I feel so much better!
I’ve found that taking cold showers really helps me bounce back.

More trouble...😠...I haven't been eating much fish lately, just dry food, and now I'm paying the price. I was thinking about booking surgery at a private clinic, but money is a bit tight right now. Does anyone know what the experience is like at a public hospital? Maybe I should just head there... anyone have any insight?

Does anyone know how much that famous surgery actually costs?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been scrolling through this sub, and honestly, I’m feeling pretty confused about the whole difference between internal and external hemorrhoids.🙄
Since I'm almost positive I'm dealing with them myself, but I'm just not feeling up to making a doctor's appointment right now, I was hoping to get some advice from you all, since it seems like a lot of people here have dealt with this before.
So, here’s the deal:
Whenever I'm straining a bit too hard or if my stool is on the firmer side, it feels like a piece of my intestine is actually protruding outward. When I wipe with toilet paper, there’s usually some blood present. It doesn't exactly hurt, but there's definitely a sense of discomfort there.
For instance, if I'm squatting, the same thing happens—it just pops out. My main question is, based on that, would these be considered internal or external hemorrhoids?
Just to give you a little more detail, when I take a warm bath, I can sometimes feel the hemorrhoid sitting on the outside, and I just manually push it back inside with my finger. I know that might sound a bit funny to some of you, but it really helps because it stays tucked away inside.
So, please, tell me what you think I should do. Should I go see a doctor, or is this something that might just pass on its own?

At the private clinic I'm looking at, they offer $167...well, it really depends on what you need. If you have to go in three times, you're looking at about $1,500. It’s a laser procedure, totally painless, and pretty quick. I've already checked with some folks who went through it there.

I'm 100% sure I have them, but I really don't feel like heading to the doctor right now. I was hoping to get some advice since it seems like a lot of you have dealt with this before.
Here’s the deal:
Whenever I strain or deal with harder stools, it feels like a piece of my intestine is popping out. When I wipe, there's blood, and while it doesn't exactly hurt, it definitely feels uncomfortable.
Even just squatting triggers it—it just slips out. So, based on that, are we talking internal or external hemorrhoids?
One more thing: when I take a warm bath, I can feel one bulging out, and I usually just push it back in with my finger. I know that might sound funny to some, but it actually helps keep it tucked away inside.
So, tell me straight—should I go see a doctor, or is this just something that passes?

If there's bleeding, they're likely internal... mine are external, meaning you can actually see them a bit...
Look, you can always go to the doctor, but they won't tell you much different than what's already being said here. They’ll probably just prescribe a cream and call it a day. A ton of people deal with this and skip the clinic entirely for that reason. Personally, I’d consider surgery just to be done with it, though that’s not a guarantee—they can come back. But hey, it's worth a shot. A buddy of mine had his done ten years ago and hasn't had issues since. It's just miserable when they get inflamed; I actually just had a flare-up a few days ago, and it was awful. Now I'm debating whether to go to the local hospital for a standard procedure or find a private specialist for laser treatment, though the costs for laser stuff are pretty steep right now.
But hey, if you want to go to the doctor, go for it... just make sure to report back with how it went.😁

Hey everyone! I need some advice here!

So, my veins were super swollen and painful to touch, but after using a suppository, things have improved slightly—except now my whole butt just hurts like crazy. It feels like someone took a soccer cleat to my backside and just absolutely wrecked me. I’m not sure if it’s still the hemorrhoids, because when I use the suppository, that swollen, tender vein feeling goes away and it doesn't hurt on the outside when I wipe, but instead, my entire rear end is throbbing pretty intensely. 😁 If anyone can help me figure out what's going on and how to make this pain stop, I’d be seriously grateful because it's getting unbearable.

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone here has been using Hemoglobin oil for a while? I’m curious to hear how you’re feeling and if you’ve actually seen results. I’ve only been on it for two days, which is obviously way too short for a real verdict. That said, the pain during and after bowel movements hasn't let up yet... so I’m really hoping this stuff does the trick. My biggest struggle is dealing with occasional constipation and those moments where you just can't make it to the bathroom in time, which leads to... 😲well, you know...

Look, you can go see a doctor if you want, but they aren't going to tell you anything different from what's already being said on this thread. They’ll just write you a prescription for some cream and call it a day. Honestly, so many people deal with this and don't even bother seeing a physician. Personally? I’d opt for surgery just to hopefully get rid of them once and for all, though there's no guarantee. They can come back. But why not try? A guy I know had the surgery ten years ago and he hasn't had a single issue since. It's just miserable when they get inflamed—mine flared up a few days ago and it was awful. So now I'm weighing my options: go to the hospital for a traditional excision or hit up a private clinic for laser treatment. Only problem is, my bank account isn't exactly cooperating with the laser option right now.
But hey, feel free to visit the doctor if it makes you feel better. You can come back and tell us all about the "experience."😁

A few specialists have confirmed to me that all hemorrhoids are INTERNAL,

which means they definitely exist.

1. internal

2. both internal and external because internal ones can thrombose into external ones...

And that's the bottom line.

Anything else you hear isn't strictly accurate!!

Later.
