Kill Bill Vol. 1

For me, Kill Bill Vol. is—just like every Tarantino flick—an absolute event!
I’m always looking for that killer soundtrack, sharp dialogue, and a specific vibe...
And Kill Bill delivers on all fronts. Sure, it’s incredibly bloody, and if you’ve got a weak stomach, some parts might be a bit much—but honestly, it’s brilliant and I can't wait to dive back into it. The way Tarantino handles the music in this movie is just masterclass.
Even just the opening sequence, where that Nancy Sinatra track "Bang Bang" kicks in while things are heating up, was enough to give me chills...
Man, I really am a sucker for Tarantino... and don't even get me started on the animation segment! Or that snow duel featuring Lucy Liu and um!
Anyway, cheers to all the fans out there!

I just finished this movie and blasted the soundtrack, and honestly? It’s easily the best thing I’ve seen all year (out of about 20 theatrical releases I've caught lately)
The animation is top-tier
The dialogue hits perfectly (though there’s less talking and more action, sitting right in that sweet spot between Kung Fu flicks, trashy cult classics, and Spaghetti Westerns)
You get Uma with a katana, then Lucy Liu swinging a blade, then this hot Japanese girl in a school uniform wielding a club... tons of blood, set in Japan, Sonny Chiba showing up as Hattori Hanzo, a sword capable of cutting through God himself, revenge... did I mention the blood already?
Also, a fair warning to everyone: don't pass out from the intensity (you might actually faint)
There are so many damn cool moments that I was practically jumping out of my seat; it feels stupid even trying to review this, you just have to experience it.
And of course, the tracksuit, the scene with the Black woman, and then hiding from the girl—man, this movie is 😲
Oh, I can't forget when they mention Umino (Black Mamba)—they use the actual name in the film and it just goes BEEP (which is another killer touch)...
Go go Yubari with that penetration... absolutely brilliant... seriously, go watch it... twice if you have to.

Unbelievable. I was chatting with my aunt while she was checking out at a grocery store on Broadway yesterday, and you won't believe what she told me. Apparently, the movie doesn't even hit our local theaters until next Thursday! Honestly, what do these people actually expect from us? Do they really think I’m going to trek all the way over there with a massive pile of gear just for that?

What really struck me, though, was the crowd—it felt like either they didn't get the joke or they were taking it way too seriously, since nobody laughed during certain parts (well, except maybe me)... it was a pretty strange vibe.

It’s true... people generally don't get the jokes when it comes to Tarantino—they just don't see them as funny. Personally, there were a few times I was absolutely losing it, laughing my head off—but I honestly think the masses didn't even catch half of the stuff that was actually, incredibly witty.👍

Just some gloomy goths who are so lost in their own angst-ridden romantic worldviews that they completely lose their footing when watching Tarantino! I want to see a movie when the actual crowds show up—you know, the people wearing shirts that say "EVERYONE ROLL INITIATIVE" or "MY OTHER CAR IS THE MILLENNIUM FALCON!"—people who laugh loudly and argue about whether Sailor Moon looks sexier in the old or new design and stuff like that.

But yeah, I noticed it's playing at the local cinema. Though I can't quite wrap my head around the logic of, "Hey, let's screen a massive blockbuster in just one single auditorium at 10:30 PM!" You could probably ask the general public if they’d actually want to go catch a screening at that hour early next week.

How much are tickets? I heard during this so-called "premiere" week the price is $12 per person? That seems a bit steep if I can just watch the same movie in the same theater for $6.75.

Opening night is always a gamble... honestly, just wait a few days and catch it when the ticket prices aren't such a joke.😁

Maybe I’m a little bit weird, but I prefer catching movies in the middle of the night. It's the only way to avoid those obnoxious kids who spend the entire runtime laughing like idiots or scrolling through their phones with the brightness turned all the way up. Last time I went to a late screening, there was this one absolute moron sitting just a few rows behind me, right under the projector. He kept waving his arms around trying to make shadow puppets on the screen—except the projector was ten feet above his head, so obviously nothing happened. Then he started stretching out his wool beanie, thinking that would somehow cast a shadow on the screen too... it didn't. Honestly, I couldn't help myself; I spent half the movie looking back and forth between the screen and this kid, just cracking up... that's exactly why I stick to the late shows... plus a few other things... man, if only there were more crowds made up of people like that...
I don't really care what time the show starts... the venue was packed, and the ticket was... $8.25 That's just a sneak preview at the local AMC...
Some idiots actually commented asking why I even bothered watching this movie... honestly, what a bunch of clueless losers. It’s like they think Hulk Hogan belongs in an Oscar race or something. Anyways, you all need to watch Kill Bill Vol. immediately.

That sound effect when they fight and you hear the wind whistling from their punches

When he beats up the kid and just lets him go home
And that specific font used during the wedding massacre
When he shows up at Hattori Umam's and acts like he doesn't know a word of Japanese

I was laughing, but mostly just stifling it because I didn't want to be "that person" bothering everyone else (so I just hide behind my jacket and grin)
(There was this one guy who finally caught the joke a bit later and started howling with laughter, but hey, at least someone enjoyed it)...
Half the people didn't get it at all, though some clearly loved it... I have a feeling the sequel might go a more serious, realistic route. We'll see...

Um, regarding that Scary Movie 3 trailer... it looks like it's parodying a scene from the movie *The Others*... a woman is looking for her daughter, and someone is hiding under a sheet in the room; she pulls the sheet back and it's Michael Jackson... it feels a bit creepy, like he's a predator or something, and then he goes... I haven't finished it yet... but she's just a little girl!!!

Or when those same moms start reading the damn subtitles out loud:

"Elves? Like... magic people?"

Reading that actually made me reflect on how incredibly relevant the films in the "Scary Movie" franchise truly are.

Remember in "Scary Movie 2" when James Woods goes to the bathroom and takes a dump? Well, we all take dumps! If that isn't relevant, nothing is.

Or when in the first installment, the killer stabs Carmen Electre's silicone breast? That is, as the smarter ones among you have noted, a social commentary on the famous "silicone fever" of the early 2000s, when everyone was rushing to plastic surgeons to get implants that would supposedly protect them from masked serial killers.

To this day, I still keep my breasts on the shelf in my living room.
