who even cares about Avatar?

Just a "friendly" little correction here—who actually gives a damn...

Alright folks, here’s the real kicker: way back in the day, I caught this total B-movie sci-fi flick on PBS. It was airing at nine in the morning, so you can probably guess exactly what kind of "masterpiece" we're talking about... Anyway, the big scene—the one that stuck with me—is when these Earthlings trap some cute little space monster on a starship and lock it in quarantine. Then, out of nowhere during some cabaret number, the thing grabs a mic and starts belting out: "I WANT TO EAT YOUR SMILE..." and so on. Eventually, it breaks out of quarantine and gobbles up everyone (obviously nothing gory or violent, since it was a nine AM broadcast)...

Question:

DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY RECALL WHICH MOVIE THIS WAS?

Personally, my absolute favorite droids have to be R2D2 and C3PO. They’re just so incredibly charming—truly one-of-a-kind characters that never fail to brighten my mood whenever they're on screen. Then, of course, you can't forget the Terminator—good old Arni is always a classic too.

If that's the case, I suppose the term 'Western world' probably sounded a bit too capitalist for their liking, so they tacked on 'Eastern' just to maintain some sense of balance.

See? This is exactly what happens when translation goes sideways once in a while.

Otherwise, maybe it's a bit of a cliché genre, but personally, I thought Gremlins was actually pretty great.

So, anyway,,,,,,,just a side note
there was this one sentient bomb in Star Trek Voyager too. Its entire purpose in life was basically just to blow up, but then things took a weird turn at the end, and I can't for the life of me remember how it wrapped up.
Where are all my fellow Trekkies hiding? Someone please refresh my memory on what happened there.

Let's see what we can dig up here...
It’s got to be Holy from Red Dwarf, (+ Rimmer, obviously, because you can't have one without the other)
Then there's HAL from Odyssey,
And R2D2 from SW (though I have to admit, that other little droid used to drive me absolutely crazy)
I remember back in an old episode of Star Trek, they actually created a non-humanoid just by putting some kind of weird headgear on a regular guy—it was honestly pretty charming 😂
We also have Data and EMH from Star Trek
Plus Q 😍 (who isn't even humanoid, he just chooses to look that way! For all we know, he could be an amoeba 😁)
...

I'm sure there are plenty more out there, I just can't wrap my brain around them right this second... maybe later...

It aired at nine in the morning, so you can imagine the level of "classic" we are dealing with... Anyway, the pivotal scene in this movie involves Humans on a starship capturing some cute little space monster and keeping it in quarantine. Then, in one bizarre cabaret-style moment, the creature grabs a microphone and starts singing: "I WANT TO EAT YOUR SMILE..." and so on. Eventually, it escapes quarantine and eats everyone (of course, without any blood or violence, since this was a 9:00 AM broadcast)...

The question:

DOES ANYONE RECALL WHICH MOVIE THIS IS?

I remember it; I think about it often, actually. People used to bash their heads against the wall trying to decipher what it was even attempting to convey, only to realize after much deliberation: "I want to eat your smile..." Honestly, the best part is that he ate the entire crew in that specific category of "movies for good kids who wake up early," and the monster looked like something straight out of Sesame Street—just pure trash Sci-fi. Right in the middle of his meal, my power went out...

And my favorite is Holy
I don't perceive Rimmer in quite that way... though as a character, he is definitely stronger...

As for the HAL & IBM, does anyone still believe in coincidences?

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Man, that gave me actual chills...
