Bravo, darksurfer26!
How is it even possible that crimsonmoose3 didn't include Constantine on your list? It seems like a glaring oversight.
And honestly, I have to ask—how can anyone actually consider The Good, the Bad and the Ugly a good film? It’s quite a stretch. 👎
As for Falling Down, what is the actual premise there? The whole vibe feels strangely familiar, almost like something I've encountered before. By the way, Peter Hayes2, I have to hand it to you; including Shawshank is a solid move, as that truly is an exceptional piece of cinema.👍

crimsonmoose3, how did you manage to leave Constantine off your list...
How exactly can The Good, the Bad and the Ugly 9. Apocalypse Now 10. be considered a good movie... 👎
What’s the deal with Falling Down? It feels strangely familiar. Nice move, Peter Hayes2, giving a nod to Shawshank... that's a top-tier film.👍

Because Constantine was a total waste of a movie... 👎 A complete insult to my favorite comic book...
Well, some people just don't have an appreciation for Westerns like you do. Personally, I think it's a fantastic film, which puts you pretty low on my list...

Well, it seems some people simply lack an appreciation for Westerns like yourself; personally, I found it quite excellent, though you seem to be sliding further down my list of preferred personalities.

Who honestly gives a damn about your personal rankings? I was born decades after you, and frankly, I find myself drawn to modern "cinematic junk" rather than the dusty classics, even if I have to admit there are plenty of old masterpieces that are undeniably good.
In fact, I finally sat down and watched Constantine today, and while the core narrative possessed immense potential, it’s such a shame they completely butchered it with abysmal character choices and then had the audacity to throw in a forced romance. 👎 👎 👎

evo I actually just sat down and watched Constantine today, and man, the story had so much potential. It’s such a bummer they totally tanked it with that loooow-tier casting and then felt the need to throw in some cheesy romance subplot 👎 👎 👎

And you aren't even that much younger than him...😁

Didn't you claim Wrong Turn was better than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? A total mess like that would really catch me off guard. This makes everything perfectly clear. Let me guess: Young Guns 2 is the greatest Western ever made?

I actually just sat down and watched Constantine today. The story had massive potential, but it's such a shame they ruined it with terrible casting and then forced a romance into the mix. 👎 👎 👎

Is that really it? Just the love story? 😲 What about Tilda Swinton's ridiculous hair? The blatant disrespect to the original comic? Keanu's endless supply of neo-style outfits? Or the demons that look more like zombies than actual demons? 😠 Not to mention all the other nonsense in a movie that was supposed to be an adaptation of the cult classic Hellblazer.

Look, man, I'm not about to sit here and list a thousand different flaws; I haven't actually sat down with the comic, so I have no idea how faithful it should have been, but in my estimation, the single most egregious blunder was casting Keanu Reeves as Constantine. Honestly, that whole romantic subplot nearly made me lose my lunch.
Regarding Westerns, I really don't see much point in debating them since I haven't even watched ten of them in my entire life, and frankly, they aren't my cup of tea. I suppose someone might argue that The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the greatest Western ever made, but that holds zero interest for me simply because of the genre itself.
When I suggested that such a movie could be considered "good," I was speaking strictly within the context of why someone might enjoy the specific tropes of a Western. My reasoning is quite simple: to me, Westerns feel like soap operas; they all follow the exact same predictable patterns, so feel free to dismiss my opinion as much as you like.
Oh, and regarding the Texas massacre, I've only ever seen the remake, so based on that alone, I'd say the story is nothing more than a bedtime tale; I haven't managed to track down the original yet, though I certainly intend to try, given how highly it’s been praised.
Personally, I would much rather spend my time watching some glorious "trash film" than endure The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. 😎 😎 😎

As for Westerns, I don't really want to get into an argument about them because I've probably seen fewer than ten in my entire life, and frankly, I'm not a fan. Maybe The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the greatest Western ever made, but I couldn't care less, mostly because that's just what a Western is...
When I said a movie could be "good," I meant in the context of someone actually enjoying the Western genre. My main issue is that Westerns feel like soap operas to me; they all follow the same formula. Feel free to judge my take all you want...
Oh, regarding the Texas massacre, I’ve only seen the remake, so based on that, the story feels like a bedtime tale. I haven't managed to track down the original yet, but I’ll definitely try since it’s supposedly so highly acclaimed...
I would much rather watch some trashy B-movie than The Good, the Bad and the Ugly... 😎 😎 😎

Alright, I'll give you that. Not everyone is a fan of Westerns.
Before you hunt down the original, check out a review on Rotten Tomatoes to see why people praise it so much... 🙂

How can anyone actually enjoy something called a Western? The main reason I feel this way is because they all remind me of soap operas. They're all exactly the same.

So you're saying all ten are the same? ☕

driftingmason7 said:Oh yeah, regarding the Texas massacre, I've only seen the remake, so based on that, I think it's just a bedtime story. I haven't managed to track down the original yet, but I'll definitely try since everyone raves about it so much.

Hmm, honestly, don't bother. From what I can tell, it's going to be booooring... 🙄

Dreamcatcher — what a tedious, hollow experience of a movie.
Those aliens from hell are really just the icing on the cake of this entire mess.

Richard Fowler68 said:Are all 10 of them really identical? ☕

Well, even bars of soap aren't all exactly the same, though they’re certainly manufactured using the same basic formula.

Richard Fowler68 said:Hmm, I wouldn't bother if I were you. Based on everything I've seen, it's going to be incredibly dull... 🙄

Sure, it might end up being a snooze-fest, but I intend to give it a fair shake. I'll certainly be applying a different set of standards than I would for those hyped-up "films of the future." It's not that I lack an appreciation for the classics; in fact, I found myself revisiting American Werewolf in London just the other day, and I must say, the film was quite striking—I certainly wasn't expecting that level of quality from an 80s production.👍

As for this whole boldeagle3 situation, frankly, why should I care about your opinion? When I see things like "She sells seashells" and this sandy little town, and then I see that picture (wow), I simply cannot bring myself to take you seriously.🤣 🤣 🤣

I assume you've checked out... everything... How can you even go around making claims like that about soap operas? It’s ridiculous. You shouldn't just sit there making stuff up about something you clearly don't understand... ☕

Take me, for example... I have absolutely no clue what the logic was behind making soap operas... except for Dynasty. 😬Because I haven't seen them...

driftingmason7 said:Yeah, maybe he’ll bore me, but I’m going to give him a shot. Level of what...?

the level of entertainment, or even the quality of the acting
well, I’ve actually sat through more soap operas than Westerns, mostly thanks to my grandfather's addiction,
and I honestly don't see what the fuss is about regarding those Westerns; I simply don't appreciate that genre of film, and I'm not quite sure how to elaborate further—what am I supposed to do, sit down and watch 150 Westerns in a row
just so I can turn around and say, "wow, man, I was totally wrong, Westerns are the absolute greatest thing ever"? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
it's not that I'm trying to suck up to anyone 😘 😘, I just watch the movies that actually interest me, rather than catering to whatever happens to please Richard Fowler68 😲 😲

And here I thought you just had a typo, London instead of Paris? 😬 Because honestly, I wouldn't have pegged you for someone watching American Werewolf. 🙄 And now that you've seen it, you're out here spouting nonsense about "not expecting that level of quality from an 80s movie"... 🙄 🙄 You're going to have a hard time breaking into our circle of cinephiles on this forum... 🙂

driftingmason7 said:entertainment value and acting quality

then you're just talking nonsense. when it comes to pure entertainment, 80s movies compared to what we get today are like, say, Texas Chainsaw Massacre compared to... ah, right.

driftingmason7 said:well, I've seen more soap operas than westerns thanks to my addict grandfather,

what exactly was keeping you glued to the couch, forcing you to watch them? you could have just admitted you were being abused...

driftingmason7 said:I don't see the issue with westerns, I just don't appreciate the genre. How am I supposed to explain that? Should I go watch 150 westerns
just to say, wow, man, I was wrong, westerns are actually great?🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

No, but don't you think it's a bit much? Claiming they're all identical after seeing only ten westerns? Isn't it a little disrespectful to mock people who consider The Good, the Bad and the Ugly a masterpiece after barely scratching the surface?🙄

Look, I’m certainly not trying to insert myself into your inner circle of cinephiles; I likely haven't even seen half the films you all have, which isn't much of a surprise given my rather meager budget for collecting movies, the fact that I’ve lived a fair amount of years already, and the constant necessity of squeezing in my college studies whenever I find a spare moment—stinks
I am an absolute amateur when it comes to cinema, but perhaps in a few years, hahaha

What exactly was it about the couch that held you hostage and forced you to sit through them? You could have just come out and said you were being abused from the start...

No, but don't you think it's a bit presumptuous to claim they're all identical after having seen only ten westerns? Isn't it slightly out of line to mock people who genuinely consider The Good, the Bad and the Ugly a masterpiece after such a limited viewing? 🙄

The irony here is that you all love to mock me because you view yourselves as the ultimate "connoisseurs" of cinema—the elite gatekeepers who practically laid the foundation for the industry. It seems everyone is just waiting with bated breath for your expert critiques so they can decide if a film that has already captivated millions of people across America is actually worth their time. That's essentially the attitude you're projecting.
I think I'll just rely on my own humble intellect to decide whether a movie is any good or not. 😈
