That movie was just sooo incredibly boring... I practically bored myself to death in that theater... honestly felt like I was having a nervous breakdown... only to realize at the very end that absolutely nothing even happened in the plot... total disaster 🙄 🙄
After watching that, my opinion of Eminem just completely tanked...
I mean, the guy is a decent actor and all, but the movie itself was seriously tedious... I was expecting way more from him

Too much rap? LOL, that's literally the comment of the month. 🙄 That’s like looking at Boyz n the Hood, Menace II Society, or CB4—any movie where rappers act or just any "urban" film, for lack of a better word—and complaining there's too much rap in it. I mean, that's literally why the movie was made. 🙂

The movie was alright, I guess... Truth is, I expected way more, but it wasn't a total waste.

I mean, I feel like all those Black-led movies have this one issue where there's just way too much hip-hop influence and way too many Black characters everywhere.

I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone under 18.
It’s packed with sexual scenes (some of them are just pathetic, streetwalker-level perverse, honestly), violence, constant swearing, and all that stuff...
The whole film is just one giant pile of crap where Eminem tries way too hard to act like some tough guy.
It basically builds its entire identity on Vanilla Ice's failures.
And unfortunately, a bunch of clueless kids actually buy into it.

Total propaganda bullshit.👎
The music is solid... does a little bit of heavy lifting to move the plot along, but that's about it.

The whole thing is just one big mess where Eminem tries way too hard to act like some tough guy.
It basically thrives on Vanilla Ice's mistakes.
And apparently, a bunch of kids are actually buying into it.

Personally? I thought the movie was totally fine! I mean—okay, sure, the plot is absolute garbage... but the soundtrack alone is enough reason to sit through it at least twice in my lifetime! Honestly, it feels more like something aimed at fourteen-year-olds... what's the point? Eh... there are so many points to make, but they are 🙄

graniteangler10 said:Just watched it today, and honestly... was this actually a hip-hop Crossroads type of deal like everyone thought when it was announced, or did Hanson actually pull off a solid movie based on the reviews?

The movie isn't nearly as good as the hype suggests.

It’s incredibly basic. It's not some deep profile from Rolling Stone about some "tortured" artist..

Just a kid growing up in the States with nothing on TV, living through slams and poverty..
There’s some fighting—probably just to prove his manhood and work through some inferiority complexes—he's high-strung, his relationship with his mom is a mess... and then he starts rapping and making it public..

And that’s it.
That is the entire movie.

I don't know, but it reminded me of Mariah Carey's "Glitter" movie.
Same tired formula.
I guess I just don't get why they trashed Mariah.. maybe because Eminem is a guy and he's doing music that's currently trendy, like how Lambada was back in the 90s 😁 -
So I suppose that automatically makes it an "okay" movie.
🙄

Movie rating: 2
Nothing special.

Maybe it’s just because Glitter is nothing more than a massive ego trip, whereas 8 Mile actually has some soul, right?
Or perhaps it's because Glitter is such a shallow success story, while 8 Mile feels like the real deal, don't you think?

I didn't feel like digging through all the previous threads about the movie, but here it is:

LIVE CATASTROPHE!!
This movie was so incredibly boring that I actually put the tape back after just an hour. It was bad—just straight-up awful...👎 , though I'm sure there are some people out there who actually liked it.🙂

I actually liked
Glitter😳 😁 😁
but I seriously don't get why everyone was raving about it..
😳

8 Mile is boring. And what you said—calling it a pure ego trip and a shallow success story—hits the nail on the head.

So, did Rabbit actually pull it off at the end of the movie?
I honestly can't tell if he did or not, but my gut feeling says no.

I honestly don't get the hype. Look, I appreciate a good biopic—this one included—but I just don't get it...

Real talk here.
I think the whole vibe of "8 Mile" is just foreign to a lot of people—they might not vibe with the genre, the music, or (sadly) that specific lifestyle.
Personally, I dug it for a few reasons. That culture isn't totally alien to me, the soundtrack is AWESOME 🙏, and Eminem really nailed his performance... professionally speaking 👍

P. S. It’s way more honest to just admit you aren't feeling the subject matter, or the music, or that you can't relate to the story... than to just say the movie sucks. Like, what's the point? You gotta broaden your horizons, people! 😉

You should probably explain what made it so bad? Just saying "bad, awful, live catastrophe" doesn't really tell us anything.

Man, that movie was absolutely legendary! Those battles were so intense, I actually got chills watching them... Honestly, what I wouldn't give to just stumble into one of those gritty urban clubs and catch a vibe with them all... And the best part—aside from the incredible soundtrack—is that in places like that, you don't deal with any of those fake, pretentious snobs leaning against the bar and judging everyone else, it's just everyone hitting the floor and losing themselves in the music...

This is a total disaster. Honestly, it’s just awful—everything about this is a complete mess. A legitimate live catastrophe.

This movie is honestly a snooze fest. The color palette is just depressing—nothing but black, gray, black—which really drags my mood down. As for the acting? It’s terrible and totally unconvincing. I guess you can't expect much from someone whose actual day job is completely different, though to be fair, none of the other actors are any better. I felt like absolutely nothing was actually happening; it just shows the typical struggles of living in a low-income neighborhood. I also think he’s way too young—Eminem, I mean—just like most of his peers or "colleagues," to be writing or heaven forbid starring in a biopic about his own life. Like someone else already said, this movie belongs in the trash along with the Glitter. Look, I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan, but I'm not an anti-fan either. Still, this film was literally AWFUL!!! SO BORING!!
Go ahead and interpret that however you want.
