Man, I absolutely love that movie! It’s incredible.

Maybe it’s just because I usually can't stand movies made in France, but man, Amelie really hit me differently. It's such a dark, beautiful film. It actually says something real about how people connect with one another. For me, it was a total standout.👍

I might be getting a little too aggressive toward the optimists here, but I honestly felt like walking up to the director and telling him the whole thing was just total garbage. I'm tired of being fed these unearned bursts of optimism that have zero substance... though, to be fair, the actress was compelling and the cinematography worked for me. It didn't really move me, though—it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

I watched the movie, but I wasn't exactly blown away—it was just your typical, sugary romance, and it certainly didn't change my life (what a massive letdown). His original films, Delicatessen and the city of a lost child, are much better...

Aside from Amelia, of course, my favorite part was the opening sequence (at 18:28:42, a fly buzzing at a staggering 14,200 flaps per minute lands right in the middle of the street). I also loved the characterization—those trivial, charming quirks like peeling wallpaper instead of using the phrase "fruit of the womb"—and the script is brilliant, especially the bits where she adds sugar to the vendor's liqueur, fiddles with the door handle, or winds her watch at exactly 4:00.

Personally, I certainly don't like every movie I see. 😉 But the point is that we all possess our own unique value systems and aesthetic sensibilities. Amélie is hands down my absolute favorite movie!
It’s just so positive, beautiful, and cozy—bursting with colors and all those tiny little details I’m obsessed with.
I was so blown away when I first saw it 🙂 that I actually went back to the theater four more times, dragging a different friend along every single time. Honestly, seeing them smile through the movie made me even happier.
This film found me at my lowest point, right when I had completely lost faith in good people, sincere gestures, or love itself... it basically pulled me back to reality.
As for movies starring Audrey Tautou... I really liked "The Engagement Was Long," but "Sweet Dirty Thing" was just totally meh to me.

Absolute trash movie.
Total disaster!
So dumb. The plot was non-existent.
I’m usually not even into rom-coms, but this was painful!
Zero logic. Just awful.
I must have drifted off at least six times in the theater.
And honestly? I only woke up out of pure politeness. I tried to stick it out, but man, it was just too bad to stay awake.
And then it happened again!
Thank God it finally ended.

Now I'm running from this movie like it's a horror flick.
