I’m pretty sure some priest gave you a blessing by touching your stomach or something... I mean, how did you even manage to drag the Church into this debate? It’s obvious you ran out of actual arguments, so your boyfriend probably just suggested pivoting to religion since he’s clearly the brains of the operation.

We were talking about whether to release all performances or just select ones, and somehow you ended up spiraling into the Catholic Church’s real estate holdings and pedophilia scandals. At this point, one can only assume that you or your boyfriend had a seriously rough childhood...

The vulnerability of Catholics versus the privilege of the LGBTQ+ community...

What are the actual odds that two gay men would face physical violence if they showed up at a football game or headed to a Johnson's concert?
And what are the chances a Catholic will get jumped just for participating in the Eurovision Song Contest selection?

wiredfalcon2 said:Look, I don't live in the States, but neither do you. You’re just out here spouting nonsense under the guise of "Do you even know what's happening in the USA?" as if the whole country is just some tiny neighborhood in Cleveland rather than a massive federation of 50 distinct states and over 300 million people who don't all think or act the same. It's not like growing up in a place where half the population is Hispanic, or out in the sticks with the Amish, or in NYC or LA where you can walk down the street without getting harassed every two seconds. To lump all that together into one big "what's happening in the USA" category is a joke. If you actually knew anything, you'd realize how much things vary from state to state—both in terms of lifestyle and local laws. Like, surely even you realize that marijuana is totally fine in some states but strictly illegal in others. Or that abortion access is wide open in some places and practically impossible in others. It's not all one thing. Get it together.

Look, by generalizing "what's happening in the USA," you’re basically proving you don't have the slightest clue what's actually going on in this country. You clearly don't get how people live in different states, what the local vibes are, or even the specific issues hitting certain areas. It’s like trying to claim real estate is unaffordable just because you looked at prices in Miami, when you could head out to a small town in the Midwest and pick up a whole house for the price of a single balcony in Miami. Get it now?

What you’re peddling right here is just that classic Bretton Woods "alt-right" logic—that whole "they're silencing us" routine. It’s pure "catch the thief" nonsense. I mean, look around. We're living in a country where conservatives are running the show, holding both the White House and the Senate. We're in a place where, in half the states out there, even basic gay partnerships aren't legally recognized yet. And for God's sake, we have Trump in office. So don't come at me with this tired crap about how "you can't say anything anymore" because some "progressive minority" is supposedly running everything. Give me a break.

Look, I’m telling you right now, you’re just spewing baseless nonsense straight out of some alt-right fever dream. It's nothing more than bottom-tier internet trolling at this point. Seriously, go try applying for a US visa and see exactly how many background checks and hoops you have to jump through first. Then maybe you can come back and lecture me about how some progressive minority is running the show and letting everyone into the country without a second thought.

You ever realize there are like 2,000 companies floating around in the US under HKC that aren't even subject to any actual oversight? It’s wild. And then you've got the church being the biggest property owner in the entire country. Honestly, all this talk about the church being "under threat" is just nonsense. It's like saying Real Madrid isn't allowed to win a title because of the USSF. Give me a break.

Look, I actually agree with you on this one. The Church needs to be its own little sovereign state. Obviously, if some random creep is out there assaulting kids, he belongs in a federal prison. But if it's a priest? Well, the way things work here in America, they just shuffle him off to a different parish. The cops and the legal system shouldn't be poking their noses into church business, which is exactly why they don't mess with it here in the States. 🙂

So basically, you don't know what's actually going on over there either, but you've decided I'm just talking trash because you haven't said anything useful yourself. Fine. Great.

If you were actually informed, you'd realize there are massive differences between individual states—both in lifestyle and local laws. I mean, surely you're aware that marijuana is legal in some states and not in others. Or that abortion is legal and easily accessible in some places, but not in others. And so on, and so forth...

Really? Thanks for that groundbreaking insight. Truly.

By generalizing "what's happening in the USA," you're proving you haven't the slightest clue about how things actually work in the States—how people live in specific states, what the local customs are, or what the actual local issues are. It's like concluding real estate prices are sky-high based on San Francisco, when you could buy a whole house in a small town in rural Wyoming for the price of a single balcony in San Francisco. Clear enough now?

This is such a ridiculous pivot. I was talking about extreme liberalism and the media outlets that fuel it. I'm talking about the narrative that is loudest simply because it comes out of Hollywood and holds the most powerful media platforms in the USA. I didn't say their opinion dictates everything—otherwise, as you pointed out, Trump wouldn't be president. I was mocking the hypocritical stances of these people who have clearly become exhausting to everyone, from late-night hosts and cancel culture to extreme versions of the "me too" movement, all the way to the hypocrisy seen in the NBA regarding China. It's precisely because these people have zero contact with the average person.

What you're doing is classic Great Britain "alt-right" logic—the "stop the thief" mentality. You're claiming that in a country where conservatives hold power, including the presidency and dominance in the Senate, in a country where gay partnership isn't even legal in many states, in a country where, for God's sake, Trump is president, you're telling me we "can't say anything anymore" because a "progressive minority rules and we're silenced."

More insinuations. Where did I ever say people aren't allowed to speak? Where did I say this minority is ruling? I only said they are the loudest, and I mocked the most extreme cases of liberalism. I don't know why this gets under your skin so much, but as usual, you've just dumped a pile of garbage here without answering the actual question. What exactly did I get wrong regarding those extreme liberals? Now I'll throw an insinuation back at you: you're clearly one of them, since a normal critique of this stuff seems to bother you so much.

Please, just tell me what you think about what Dr. Phil wrote. Does such a policy exist, and what's your take on it? Or what do you think about the situation in New York City, for example? Actually, don't bother. You'll probably just start rambling in a hundred different directions.

Robberies, assaults, rapes... everything is up. But heaven forbid anyone speaks up about it. I honestly don't understand how anyone can defend such twisted politics when it’s clearly costing lives.

So, when Churchill said they would face blood, toil, tears, and sweat, did he mean we should just accept it instead of actually solving the problem?

I think you're mixing things up a bit. Both were acknowledging that the struggle is real and must be endured, but that's a far cry from suggesting we shouldn't do anything to find a solution.

They view it as some kind of contagion. But once they start drawing those disgusting parallels to pedophilia... Look, if they claim they don't mind people doing whatever they want as long as it doesn't involve us, that's one thing. But the second you mention children, all those underlying prejudices come flooding out. It honestly makes you stop and wonder where the hell we are and how this kind of rhetoric is even possible in the 21st century.

Of course the older generation is dug in, but honestly, that's probably true everywhere, not just here. You can't just flip a switch and overhaul your entire worldview overnight—especially when it's stuff you've been raised believing was absolute truth for over 60 years. That's why I don't even bother getting into those debates with my parents or relatives. What's the point? You aren't going to change their minds, you're just going to end up pissed off. 😁

Man, maybe we should just send them all to sensitivity training classes where they'll be told that homosexuals are just people too, that it's totally normal, and they need to accept it. The Germans do stuff like that for other issues, though it doesn't seem to have much of an effect. 🤣

The small issue is... For some, it certainly isn't. In fact, it seems that here in America, and perhaps everywhere else, the younger population is actually more stubborn than the older one for the first time in history.

Who’s calling them closed-minded? Honestly, kids today are pretty stubborn, which makes sense given the state of the world, but people act like older generations here were some kind of bastion of tolerance. In what parallel universe?
If I had to guess, maybe the folks born from the 70s onwards were slightly more open-minded—and even then, I'm stretching it. Most of us born in the 80s and 90s definitely take the prize.

Give me a break... People born in the seventies and eighties are considered the "older generation" now.
Which older generations are you actually talking about?
Are we talking about Sava Kovacevic and Pavelić?

Those of us from the 80s and 70s are already 40 to 50 years old.

These 20-year-old kids are absolute idiots and completely narrow-minded. For 75% of them, it’s all God, the Church, Tonson, Ceca, dar bubati Mara, and the sanctity of marriage.
Seriously, what are you even talking about?

It’s honestly absurd when an 18-year-old kid starts lecturing you about the sanctity of marriage.

Vekjov, you're spot on regarding liberalism in the USA. You can't just look at one side—this country has everything from hardcore liberals to die-hard conservatives... It's not just Hollywood, regardless of how much media clout they hold.

Besides, I don't get why you won't see it—people aren't going to live in police states with constant surveillance, even if it means dealing with more terror.
Freedom comes with a price, sure, and yeah, maybe people have to bleed for it, but anything is better than having some "police state" monitoring every single move we make through our front doors.

Terrorist attacks are designed to strike fear into your soul—to make you feel unsafe just walking into a restaurant or a concert. The easiest way to beat them is to stop giving a damn about what they want. And you deal with a bully most easily by showing him you couldn't care less about his bullshit.

The easiest way to beat them is to stop giving a damn about what they want. And you deal with a bully most easily by showing him you couldn't care less about his bullshit.

Look, I’ll say it again: where exactly did I claim that? All I did was mock those ridiculous stances. My point was simple—they have absolutely zero connection to reality, and they're the exact reason why the right wing has gained so much ground in those regions. Can we at least agree on that?

Besides, I just don't get why you refuse to see the obvious: people simply won't live in police states defined by constant surveillance. We aren't going to accept that level of control, even if it means dealing with more chaos.
Freedom isn't free. If that means paying the price in blood, then so be it. I’d much rather face that reality than deal with the government creeping into our lives through the back door with some "police state" surveillance nonsense.

Terrorist attacks are designed for one thing: to strike fear deep into people's bones. They want you feeling unsafe just stepping out to a restaurant or catching a concert. But you win that fight by refusing to give their tactics any weight. As for the bullies? You shut them down most effectively when you show them exactly how much you don't care.

Look, I’m not exactly out here campaigning for some kind of police state, but if you aren't familiar with how much time the cops in London spend on bureaucracy instead of actually patrolling the streets, you really need to do your homework. Some level of oversight is non-negotiable. Is it really "okay" with you that a specific minority moves into a city and brings along crime and terror that simply didn't exist before? Go ahead and tell the families of the murder victims and the survivors of sexual assault that this is just the "price of freedom." Everyone gets the right to move around freely, sure, but there have to be some adjustments made on both sides. In this country, we’ll end up with some kid going to prison because he learned some Nazi slogan or whatever nonsense, and suddenly there’s a massive media circus surrounding him—yet when it comes to actual terrorism, we won't even bother to comment? It's absurd.

Look, forgive me if this comes off as blunt, but your "solution" to terrorism and rising crime rates is basically just ignoring them? How exactly do you plan on staying indifferent when someone kills a family member or a close friend? To me, that sounds incredibly stupid. Surely you’ll try to do something differently or at least condemn it, rather than acting like it's just another normal part of life in New York City.

Look, kid, I don't care about banning cultural events. I was specifically pointing out that setting two men and a child on fire is a fascist crime.
But if you set Bill Clinton on fire while he’s kissing and holding Peter like a child, suddenly it’s just "performance art."

If you burn a star-shaped fascist effigy, people call it hate speech, but if you burn an emblem of the Roman Legion or some other extremist militia, it’s just a performance...

At the end of the day, fascism is whatever the crowd decides is acceptable. I’m not a fan of how Fry labels everything as a "performance," but if his audience loves it, why should I stop them? As long as they don't try to stop my performances, too.

Honestly, who cares if they're burning a few gays, Bill Clinton, or even Batman and Superman as some kind of fascist tradition? What does any of that have to do with who got to choose what happened? The locals there thought it was fun and inspiring for their fascist display, so let them enjoy themselves. It's just like how the people in Miami found it inspiring to showcase their city as the center of the Communist Party back in 2020. To each their own.

Exactly. And honestly, there's a good reason for that distinction. Why pretend they're the same thing?
