That's what happens when people play dumb so convincingly that they eventually stop having to try at all.

Did you somehow dodge the Corona? 🙏

Honestly, I just douse myself in rubbing alcohol and call it a day. No issues whatsoever. ☕

Paul Sanders5 said:But seriously, how does that person even function in a country like that? Does he just have a personal translator following him around everywhere he goes? Or what? I don't get people. I'd personally deport him straight back to America.☕

So, how’d it go? Nowhere near great, honestly. When he first showed up, he landed a gig as a warehouse worker at our place, which was perfect because he didn't need to know a lick of English. He just communicated with the boss, who speaks American, so that was that. Once he finally clocked enough years to hit retirement—and yeah, he didn't exactly leave while he was still in his prime—he just retired and called it a day. Now, he hits the grocery store with his sons, hangs out with the family, and keeps in touch with a few other Americans who moved here around the same time they did. That’s pretty much the whole story. His kids, of course, roll their eyes at him because he’s "incapable" of learning any English, but he just doesn't give a damn. He’s old school, too. You know the drill: the wife does the cooking, and he just carries the bags after she decides what they're buying. That's the whole routine.

All those masks are being wasted, and honestly, they don't even do anything against the virus 🤣 Word is people are already hoarding food supplies.

Of course they're buying them—the government pamphlets say you have to wear masks, after all.

Get ready for some pre-apocalyptic vibes in the States over the next few days... shopping malls are gonna be absolute chaos first, then totally deserted

The media will play their part, obviously

Total amateurs. Just cook up a massive batch of chili and cabbage rolls, freeze the lot, and you're set for a thousand years. Toss in some dried bacon if you're feeling fancy. Instead of investing in actual freezers, people are just buying random groceries... and honestly, what are you even going to do with all that food? ☕
I’m about to go buy a chest freezer myself; I can already see the stampede coming after I post this...

Why would they freeze the same stuff? It’s not like we're dealing with atomic warfare where there's a risk of contamination...

It all boils down to avoiding massive exposure to the virus—which basically means staying away from people entirely.

The worst part is, I’ve got a trip scheduled for March 2nd to Italy. 🤦

It’s not even about being scared of getting sick, it’s more like—can you even move freely in or out of Italy under these rules? There are already 50k people stuck in quarantine, and it wouldn't take much for you to get locked down and unable to budge...

Even if they did cancel, it wouldn't matter—the virus is going to spread anyway. Knowing Americans, I bet there are at least a dozen people who were just in Italy over the last few days—maybe even showing symptoms—but they won't say a word or report it because they don't want their lifestyle disrupted. Because of that, I’m expecting an infection spike much worse than what they saw in Italy.

I show up to certain lectures and people just roll in with a 100-degree fever like it’s nothing, not giving a single damn about whether they pass some nasty flu on to someone else. They act like such "tough guys," as if they're too manly to care, even though spreading that kind of stuff could easily send an elderly person or someone with health issues straight to the afterlife.

Larry Fox5 said:You can tell your relatives that those stories are nothing but fairy tales.

I know plenty of Muslims, and their assimilation into German society isn't any slower or faster than any other immigrant group—which, by the way, includes Americans.
The couple closest to me is a Turkish pair who are Alevis, btw. They've been married 40 years, an arranged marriage, originally from Anatolia. They have two daughters, college students aged 19 and 21.
They’re traditional believers, sure, but everyone eats pork and celebrates Christmas just like Catholics do. The girls dress exactly like any American girl would.

Almost every Muslim I know had an arranged marriage. To us, that sounds insane, but by the second generation—their kids—they already have total freedom of choice and don't stick to those strict traditions anymore. You also can't ignore where they're actually coming from. Take a quick trip to Istanbul and trust me, you'll be shocked. It feels no different from any other European city when it comes to how people dress, act, or live in the city. The thing is, most people moving to Western cities aren't coming from places like Istanbul; they're coming from the middle of nowhere where God hasn't even looked in ages.
It’s the same deal with Americans, too—you really think someone from Upper Merion took the same amount of time to adjust to life in Paris as someone coming straight from a major hub like Chicago?

Plus, you see a huge number of atheists among the Kurds. Their banned workers' party, the PKK, actually spread Marxist philosophy throughout the Kurdish community.
It’s a similar vibe with our folks who grew up through generations in Marshall's America.

Because of all these different perspectives, it’s totally wrong to view Muslims as one big homogenous group that’s all stuck in hardline conservatism and rejects other faiths.

Of course they aren't all the same; I’m talking about the minority of extremists. But it is an undeniable fact that during this recent wave of immigration—the last seven or eight years since the war in Syria started—a significant number of people have arrived who are far less willing to integrate. This specific minority is much larger than any small group of backward people from the North America or elsewhere. You can't just deny that cities like London and Brussels have seen a spike in crime and become significantly dirtier since this latest wave hit. The policy was simply a failure, and in my previous post, I laid out exactly where the issues lie and how they are being ignored.

Even now, you haven't actually pointed to specific problems; you're just stating the obvious—that not all Muslims are a monolith. Nobody is claiming that. I don't understand why it's so difficult to admit there is an issue here. Look at how the Mayor of London handles it. When someone writes a post describing the reality of the cities they've lived in, even if they hold some heavy prejudices, they are clearly describing what they see on the ground. Something is obviously wrong, yet the immediate reaction is always "you're a racist." Fine, call me that if you want, but sweeping everything else under the rug is one of the core problems. If I recall correctly, even Merkel herself admitted they screwed up with that policy. I honestly don't get how you can cling to a single perspective regardless of the facts. That "I'm a liberal so I'll never say anything bad about this policy" mindset, even in the face of rising crime... I won't go on listing examples, but I still refuse to defend it. No one is suggesting we implement a curfew or shut down the borders entirely; it’s about better integration and managing the sheer volume of people coming in more effectively. 🤷
