There have been 59 superhero movies from 2000 to this point. Things really picked up speed after Iron Man in 2007. We're talking an average of almost three superhero flicks every single year. That average is actually skewed lower because they were released much slower between 2000 and 2007, but lately, they're dropping five or more a year.

It's insane. I honestly feel like these are the only movies left in theaters. There’s nothing else decent to watch anymore.

I wish we’d see a few more of those modern action flicks centered around heavy gunplay, like Sicario or Den of Thieves.

Modern era, apocalypse, superheroes, or sci-fi. Which one are you picking?

Devastating letter: My mother passed away at the Mayo Clinic because of this COVID-19 hysteria

Here’s some high-quality reading for those short-sighted people who think this is just some grand debate about saving lives versus fixing the economy.

And honestly, there are way more tragedies like this happening, it's just really hard to get them out into the public eye. If everyone actually banded together and filed a massive lawsuit against the federal task force, that would be the only fair way to handle it.

Just look at the USA, Italy, Spain, or France. In those places, we're talking about tens of thousands of deaths.

To me, the entire issue with this media coverage from the start is a total lack of context.

Ten thousand people isn't the same thing when you're talking about China versus the USA, or the USA versus Italy, or Italy versus Canada, or even comparing the US to the Czech Republic or Slovakia...

In the States, tens of thousands of people lose their lives in traffic accidents every single year, but does that mean we should panic over a sudden spike in road fatalities here in America? Not necessarily.

I'm trivializing it, sure, but this constant inflation of raw numbers on news banners across the country feels remarkably similar to that kind of sensationalism.

And then you take one look at the highest-grossing movie lists and realize—yeah, we’re definitely going to be waiting a long time before the superhero era actually ends. 😁

Deadpool is one of those rare cases where the sequel actually managed to outdo the original movie.

And Aquaman. I've been searching everywhere, but I simply cannot find it. It is nothing short of blatant discrimination against fish-people.

Black Widow 🙏ex:

I still haven't even sat down to watch the second one yet. This is perfect entertainment for late tonight. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've pretty much just been sticking to movies starring Tom Cruise lately.

Robbie hit the nail on the head. You spend the first five months scaring the hell out of everyone about getting sick and telling them to stay home, and then you just expect people to flock back to bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and every other service business for the rest of the year? Like, seriously?

I mean, I want it. I don't give a damn. To me, this whole thing is the biggest piece of fake news in human history. But everyone else? Hmmm...

I recently watched American Made. It was a bit too much hand-holding for my taste, but the story itself is interesting. Generally speaking, Tom Cruise picks solid movies; he rarely misses, unlike with The Mummy. He’s a total blockbuster machine.

William Gomez5 said:I gotta say, when I first saw Inception, I thought it was absolutely mind-blowing. But looking back at it now? I realized a huge part of that "wow" factor was just me being totally lost. I thought it was deep because I didn't actually get what was happening.

Every time I rewatch it now, the only thing I really notice is how gorgeous the cinematography is, but honestly, there's just no substance there. It’s all style, no meat.

If you want the good stuff, go with District 9, Arrival, then Edge of Tomorrow—in that exact order. Don't get me wrong, they're all great, just different vibes.

I know steelharbor9 is a massive fan of Ex Machina, but personally, it didn't really do it for me.

As for Marvel, they've got a mixed bag. Ragnarok is actually a hilarious comedy (Korg is a legend), The Winter Soldier is basically a top-tier spy thriller (plus, it's got that Redford vibe), but Thor: The Dark World is straight-up garbage. Period.

When Taika is directing, he brings a great sense of humor. Personally, I think What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople are fantastic films. The latter (Jojo) feels a little childish to me, but it isn't bad. Actually, news just broke a few days ago that he'll be directing and writing new Star Wars films. Honestly, that might actually turn out well.

If you haven't seen the Raiders movies, just go watch them already. For me, they might be the peak of 21st-century action.

They are truly unbelievable.

Everyone in New York City already knew it was all just hot air from the very start—not that it was actually harmless, much like a plague, but the whole thing was being blown way out of proportion 🤣

They knew!

To me, these are people with a diminished capacity for critical thinking. It stems from a failure to grasp the risks born from early insights and unknowns, as well as a tendency to trivialize a situation that, here in the States, is actually far more manageable than it is in places like Italy, Spain, or Belgium for reasons we still haven't quite pinned down.

The reality shifts drastically even within a single country. I looked at the data where, back in March, death rates in Italy were 50% higher than the five-year average, even though some southern provinces and islands saw a rate that was 1.8% lower. This implies that in the north, that 50% spike was likely even more extreme. Honestly, if someone finds a scenario like that worthy of mockery or chooses to ignore it and carry on as if nothing is happening, more power to them. Personally, I’ll always make sure my life doesn't depend on people like that.

And perhaps the most absurd delusion of all is the idea that without lockdowns, the "economy" would just keep humming along as if nothing had changed 🤣

Tabloid journalism is obviously another huge factor at play here, but honestly, who actually gives a damn?

As for my specific situation, ever since this COVID-19 madness started, it isn't just that I haven't had any bookings—I haven't even received a single inquiry. But strangely enough, nobody has actually canceled on me yet, whereas my neighbors have seen seven out of eight of their reservations fall through.

I'm gonna go clap from my balcony for our "noble heroes"—you know, the ones too busy filming TikTok dances to actually take care of their own families.
