Suggestion: Can we make avatars larger?

It’s 2011, not 2000. Monitors are huge and high-res now...
Does it even make sense to stick to 50x50 pixel avatars? 🤷

Increasing them to 100x100, or at least 75x75, wouldn't hurt the Reddit layout.

And don't just claim it would ruin the look of the site...

An avatar 100 x100 isn't exactly meant for a photo album; it's actually a fairly standard dimension compared to most other American forums.

75x75 really isn't much.

Given how bloated this forum is and how abysmal the server performance currently stands, the chances of actually implementing something like this are essentially zero... 😢 I’d personally love a larger avatar, too, but we really need to address the more pressing issues first. 😉

The left unit measures 175 feet across, which means there is more than enough breathing room to work with. I’m all for this proposal, even if I personally have my display settings set to hide avatars.

I’d much rather spend my time perfecting the signature design ☕

Are you actually complaining on a forum where the owner claims removing signatures is necessary to lighten the server load (and apparently killed off most of the options for that very reason)? Are you new here🤣?

It’s not even about the aesthetics, honestly, because that isn't the real issue here; it's more about the server itself and its overall capacity. I mean, the more stuff you cram onto a server, the slower that server is going to run, I guess.

I don't see any issue with the server itself since the owner can just set the allowed avatar size to 9.8kb; they simply need to increase the maximum pixel dimensions. 😬

If we could actually use our own photos for avatars, I might get where they're coming from, but right now, I'm just lost. 🤷

I had my profile picture up, but then they came knocking and demanded I take it down just because they thought it might scare off the minors browsing the forum.

The way other forums look is just too much—like some flashy picture book for kids (because let's face it, those things are pretty 😬) and it makes everything impossible to read.

What we actually want is drop-down menus and better signature formatting :maše traMsparentom:.

It’s always the same crowd responsible for tearing down online communities—those people who insist on cluttering half their screen with neon green, purple, and yellow fonts at size 80, all while attaching tiny little image files that refuse to cache properly on the client side. Rather than introducing some half-baked formatting tool, we should just scrap signatures entirely. Honestly, avatars are a much smaller headache by comparison.

We don't really need those massive signatures; I've seen them on other subreddits and they just look ridiculous. Though, I guess avatars could be a little bit larger 🤷

So, who's actually going to manage to please everyone? 😬
