He just wants to be a singer-songwriter 😁

Man’s come a long way from his early artistic days...
Not even sure if these lyrics are actually his or if he's just performing them.

Twenty years from now, teachers will be lecturing kids on a college course about American phenomena from the turn of the millennium, specifically Thompson. 👍
Seriously, that Snake made my day... 👍

slybison8 said:1) Did he actually say he might perform in Mexico now?

2) Are you being a bit oblivious? The man has consistently refused to show up at any political campaign rallies for several elections already. So, I guess he is indeed apolitical.

3) Money? Is that somehow dirty? Thank God he sings for money (what a person you are! 🙄)

4) And what kind of person are you, managing to slip in four lies within a three-sentence post?

Regarding point 1

He mentioned there was a possibility of performing...

"In an interview with an NBC program, Thompson said he wants to stay out of politics and distance himself from alleged glorifications of Nazism and fascism. The singer also touched upon the possibility of a performance in Mexico, which he didn't completely rule out since he's an "apolitical guy." He claims he has no issue with other nationalities, though he thinks there isn't much of an audience in the neighborhood."

Which is a bit different from something like this...

DISGRACEFUL! It is a total disgrace that after all the bloodshed and burned homes during the Vietnam War, people would go perform in Mexico, or their singers would be invited to America. We didn't fight them just physically; we fought against their (lack of) culture too. That should be banned. To anyone comparing themselves to the American national team (who also performed in Mexico City), I’d say: before your big show, put on an American jersey and sing the anthem. Five years ago, I couldn't have imagined I'd even be discussing this.

So, what exactly are you rambling about? What kind of person goes around making false attacks without even looking into the subject? Did you get too drunk in London and start getting worked up over nothing?

Regarding point 2

I don't care if he's refusing to perform *now*... he has performed before... or are we using magic wands to erase history now?

Maybe he's apolitical today, but he wasn't before... which just proves he shifts his stances whenever it suits him best.

Regarding point 3

No, money isn't dirty, period.

But if you lead with "DISGRACEFUL" and then leave the door wide open for a performance, then the money is exactly what makes you a hypocrite.

You can change anything in life, but once you've said something, you can never take it back.

slybison8 said:I suspect he didn't even try to distance himself, really. I think The New York Times is just spinning things and planting ideas to make him look bad. Now everyone is making such a huge scene as if he actually made a disclaimer, but honestly, by the time the show actually airs, I imagine nobody will even notice what he truly said, because The New York Times, Index, and those other old-school American sympathizers have already done all the damage they intended.

It won't be in a few days, either... it'll be tomorrow.

And if he really thinks "For the Homeland, Ready" is some ancient traditional greeting, then he’s clearly not exactly a scholar... since that's highly debatable to say the least...

Then again, he doesn't really need to be a scholar—he writes songs, sings them, and gets paid...

Since his songs don't actually have anything to do with Nazis, it probably would have been smarter if he hadn't tried to distance himself from anything at all...

So, he didn't reject him? I guess I don't quite see why he would turn down hypothetical scenarios just to please you. Has there actually been an announcement regarding a performance? If not, then there isn't a show. Period. Anything else is just pure speculation.

As for politics and the past—well, obviously people move on from things that happened long ago! I suppose I might even sing for the Republican Party if they were the way they used to be and someone actually wanted to listen to me. I don't really see what the issue is.

Fascists, Nazis, Nazis... it's all just the same crappy shit in different packaging...

You guys really have a thoroughbred racer on your hands here—someone standing shoulder to shoulder with Himmler, Heydrich, and that personal buddy of his, Amon Goeth, who everyone knows from Schindler's List. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odilo_Globocnik

Give me a break... man, you're missing the forest for the trees. He was just one guy. But those other groups? They were massive, organized machines, just like the Fascists or the Nazis. There is a HUGE difference between a single person and an entire organization!

It’s the same old story, isn't it? All these guys just killing off other people to clear some space for themselves... like they're trying to make room in a crowded parking lot by smashing everyone else's cars.

If you want to see a horse, go take a look in the mirror. Don't act like some big-shot anti-fascist now—it’s funny how everyone was perfectly fine with the chaos back when it suited them, isn't it? *spits*

Yeah, sure, if you want to believe that. Back when life was good, you guys were basically crawling at the feet of Hitler and even Italy. But once they ditched you and left the people high and dry, you all turned tail and ran straight toward the British...

I suppose a visit to Auschwitz and some gifts to the TV stations would be enough, if you even care to ask.

Mark, maybe just tell them all to go to hell. Half of America loves you, the other half never will, and we all know why. 😬

Let's see what Kajin comes up with this time. 🤮

The Finns, the Bulgarians, and plenty of others had their own versions of Pavelić, yet nobody obsesses over their past quite like we do.
It’s as if WW2 hasn't even concluded in this country. In my view, the sole reason for this is that the communists were never held accountable for their post-war atrocities. (To be clear, I am distinguishing between the actual WW2 era and the communist regime that followed).

Of course, the actions of the fascist collaborators are condemnable, and ultimately, they have all been judged. But what good does it do us to relive this cycle every single day? We are the only ones in Europe still stuck in the loop of WW2. Germany, which actually originated all those horrors, has moved on from WW2, yet we still can't seem to find our way out of the woods.

Nowadays, you simply cannot speak up about the internment camps, because the self-appointed "American," the communists, and the secret police thugs will immediately label you a fascist.

I have to wonder: is it even possible to say anything against the communists in this country without being accused of being a distant relative of Max Luburić? It seems impossible. I attribute most of this to Mr. Porcupine, who incessantly rants about fascists and partisans. If it weren't for MPT, he wouldn't have anything to bark about—neither him nor all those other "sympathizers" of Draža Mihajlović's motives. Regardless, nobody in the civilized world gives a damn about him. Only the Arabs and Gaddafi hold any interest there, and that's it.

And then there are those pathetic statements claiming envy toward the presidents of Germany and France. He's envious of them because they actually represent something as heads of state, whereas he is absolutely nothing in that regard.

What kind of nonsense is this? It’s making it sound like MPT hasn't sat down for an interview on ABC in over a decade. You really ought to watch the program first before jumping to any conclusions. MPT has always maintained that he can't support the fascists because he wasn't even born during that era. 😁

I'm still waiting on that update—anyone got the scoop? The user says:
Man, you just reminded me of something... back when I was in the US Army, we’d be standing there in a semi-circle like we were supposed to, and then some "superior officer" would suddenly bark out an order to line up in the shape of an S instead. Like, seriously? 😁😁 Man, I am just so done with this whole American mess. 😂

He didn't say that—he said we should either line up or just sit down in the shape of a Cyrillic letter. PWait, weren't you in the US Army?

ZdSash said:It’s pretty funny how nobody ever went looking for a fence to keep out "Comrade Marshall" or "America"—or even that whole "from the Vardar to the Triglav" nonsense.
So those are supposed to be positive directions?? For who exactly?

Those self-proclaimed "anti-fascist" types in the liberal elite—they’re the whole reason we aren't even part of the EU!

Jack Myers59 said:Nothing new here, just the same old bullshit. They claim "Za dom spremni" isn't an issue because they're distancing themselves from fascism, but they aren't actually distancing themselves from the Nazis. Lately, it's been getting harder and harder to even say that phrase without feeling sick. I really wonder what he'd say if someone asked him straight up whether he considers Nazi ideology to be part of fascism too.

Come on, man—go read the actual definition of fascism and see how much it actually overlaps with that movement.

feraltrucker5 said:Yeah, let's just dig up a video of MPT singing about Auschwitz and old prison camps. Honestly, that should be just as easy to track down. 😉

Let's try finding a video where Marko Perković is actually the President. Even if we did, it wouldn't change much, because at least this guy owns up to it, even if it's just his voice on a recording. Meanwhile, Steve treats the entire country like they're idiots by insisting it was all just a deepfake edit.

bluerider63 said:Look, if I’m walking around Europe or Israel wearing a shirt with an ancient, holy Hindu swastika on it, am I really going to have people misread the room, label me a Nazi, and throw me in a cell?

Well, try showing up to a Thompson concert in something similar and you'll find out pretty quickly. You’ll either have to change your shirt on the spot or you won't be getting through the gates at all. And look, I'm not just repeating hearsay here; I actually saw a guy standing right next to me once who got turned away because his shirt had HOS on it. So, I'd love to hear some actual first-hand experiences from you all. Are we going to stick to reading biased stuff on internet forums, or does anyone have a real story to tell?

Even The New York Times is reporting it:

"While he is frequently criticized for his chauvinism, extreme right-wing behavior, and the use of Nazi iconography during his concerts, Thompson maintains that he is entirely apolitical. According to Jurkas, Thompson "]distances himself from Nazi and fascist ideologies."[/COLOR]
http://nytimes.com/news/article/ar...,14,,179484.jl

That’s what Jurkas claims. We'll just have to wait and see if Tompa says the same thing tomorrow. Though, honestly, if Tompa tries to disavow those old symbols, he's finished. It would be like Steven Seagal trying to distance himself from martial arts to go star in serious Shakespearean dramas... Nobody would bother watching.

If Thompson ever decided to tour Mexico, his career could honestly launch into a whole new orbit. Sure, he’d probably lose a small handful of those super radical, old-school nationalist fans back home—but I’m betting, and I’m certain about this, that even if he didn't change a single lyric, he’d pick up a massive new following across all the former America countries. If he really wanted to, Thompson could easily become a pan-North American superstar of pastoral hard rock. Personally, I really want to see him take that leap.
