It’s actually pretty charming in the first half, but then it just falls off a cliff.
That whole cute little gimmick about jumping through time is handled so clumsily it’s honestly gross.
There are way too many movie references, a mountain of clichés, and some seriously bad acting. I actually told my buddy right after it ended that they should have just retitled it "90 Minutes of Clichés."

A ton of Good Music and a bunch of solid jokes are the only things that make this movie even remotely tolerable.
But if you think this belongs in the lineup of some serious indie festival that loves bragging about showing movies you can't see anywhere else, yeah, I’m not buying it.

Thumbs down.

p.s. Maybe I only sat through it because I’ve spent the last ten days buried in these supposedly "deep" black-and-white classics for work, so a bright, happy movie in color was a relief in its own way. My friend reckoned I probably would’ve walked out after twenty minutes if I’d watched this right after a few "normal" colored films. Who knows? 🙄
p.p.s. Honestly, my favorite part was when that clip from 500 Days of Summer (which they’re watching in the theater) popped up in full frame. For those seven seconds, I was just sitting there drooling, thinking about how great it would be to watch 500 Days of Summer in a theater.

but honestly, screw those wannabe critics. just listen to Ebert 👍 🤣

It’s being pitched as an indie flick, which is right up my alley—I absolutely live for movies like Juno, Charlie Bartlett, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Plus, I’m a huge fan of that whole wave of smart comedies; you know, stuff like Knocked Up, Superbad, or Click. Basically, if it involves Paul Rudd, Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, or Michael Cera—and their whole circle of curly-haired Jewish guys and friends—I'm probably going to love it. This looks like it'll be top-tier.

I had the exact same experience. I watched this little flick right after "Brick" and "Mysterious Skin," both also starring Gordon-Levitt—I was in that phase of "Gordon-Levitt is just SO hot 🍿"—so after those two heavy hitters, this pathetic little movie felt totally weak, shallow, and superficial. I finally just moved on and watched "the diplomat" instead.😁😁😁

I finally caught this one, went to the theater of course 😬 Personally, I really enjoyed it.
It’s the classic setup: boy meets girl, boy falls in love, girl just doesn't feel the same way
Honestly, this kind of theme and genre is my absolute favorite—it's quirky and genuinely engaging, if that's how I can describe it.
The acting was refreshingly unconventional; the whole vibe relies on simplicity and innovation, which was easily my favorite part of the experience.
It might not be the greatest film ever made, but it's definitely one I’ll be happy to revisit and listen to again 😁
The soundtrack is fantastic—truly incredible—I'm adding it to my library immediately.

Such a great movie:-)

It isn't some sugary sweet romance... there are plenty of those cute, funny little moments, sure, but it also offers a pretty brutal reality check regarding the whole concept of soulmates... honestly, it’s just an incredibly charming film overall.

For me, the best part is when they show those two shots side-by-side—Expectations versus Reality... showing what he thought was going to happen compared to how things actually played out...

The movie is... alright. It's Nelo, I guess. But that ending? Totally unnecessary. Especially those few minutes where he meets those other iconic characters, man, OH!
Honestly, that's just how movies work—you either get everything or nothing at all 👍

So I finally forced myself to sit through this movie, thinking maybe Zoey would actually show a bit more than just a bare hand, a door, or a leg😛

A lovely, sweet, and totally chill movie🙂
I honestly loved it; it’s just so easygoing... there isn't any heavy-handed philosophizing, just a bunch of genuinely funny bits
That scene where he walks out of the house after spending the night with her, absolutely glowing because he's so in love, and everyone is just smiling at him and dancing along, and then a little bird actually lands right on his hand... man, that part just completely lifted my spirits
There really is no better feeling than that silly, giddy kind of infatuation, and that is exactly what this captures😁

And then you realize that even after finding "The One," there might be another "The One" out there too😁...I mean, how much more can life give you?😁

I’m really digging this concept. I honestly think it’s high time we saw it explored more deeply through a full filmography—really fleshed out and understood. This movie managed to do it so gracefully and with such a unique, understated touch; it’s exactly how it should have been handled from the start.

I really have to say it one more time: that soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal.👍

Ugh... way too aggressive and forced... It really could have been so much better.

A romantic dramedy that actually managed to be different—maybe even pretty smart. The characters are likable, the ideas are solid (I loved that clever bit at her party where the screen splits to show his expectations on one side versus the actual Reality on the other), and it portrays the relationship between two distinct people without leaning on those tired old clichés. I mean, sure, the ending could have been a little less sappy
It feels like Zooey is playing the same role she had in Yes Man—that ultra-cute, quirky girl who’s always down for some weird adventure. And it's the same deal with Gordon-Levitt, playing the simple, naive guy just head over heels in love.
Highly recommended for anyone who’s officially fed up with all the typical Judd Apatow nonsense and those shallow teen romance tropes.

Look, it’s alright, I guess, but it definitely didn't hit the high bar set by my Expectations. The first half actually felt pretty charming and sweet, but then the second half just completely falls off the rails in a bunch of ways. I did dig the clever camera work—the way they played around with showing the script from the main guy's perspective versus how things actually look in Reality was a cool touch. Zoey is totally adorable, but honestly, that’s not enough to wash away the bitter taste of this whole thing being a massive "could've been better" situation.

I watched this one yesterday with my partner—it wasn't exactly a bad movie, but I think I went in with much higher Expectations, so maybe that’s why I felt a bit let down. Our friends had recommended it and they were absolutely raving about it, so I guess I just built up too much anticipation 😬 It was Nelo enough to pass the time, I suppose, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to watch it again 🙂

Just watched this, so I figured I’d leave a quick comment...
It’s a fun, original, unconventional, and slightly melancholic feel-good romantic comedy. Nothing revolutionary about it, I guess, but I liked it because there's enough freshness and decent humor to make it work. Zooey is adorable, and Gordon-Levitt (who was great in Mysterious Skin and Brick) is his usual fantastic self. The soundtrack is actually really solid. 8.1/10

Honestly, a pretty solid little movie. 🙂
It had some really Good Music, and I actually found myself laughing out loud a few times—especially during that part where she’s just standing there on the street in her bathrobe, yelling "get a room" at people and stuff. 😍

What a clever little movie... honestly, it feels like such a pleasant change of pace from that endless sea of action-packed sci-fi horror and apocalyptic junk...
It really hit home for me...
Now I'm downloading the soundtrack immediately 😍

An absolutely fantastic movie. That specific scene—along with the one comparing Expectations to Reality—really hit me right in the feels. Or even that moment where he’s just pouring his heart out at the karaoke bar. 🙏
Such a great film🙏.

Ugh, it feels like I’m the only one who didn't really vibe with this movie. Sure, there are some cute little moments here and there, but still...
