500 Days of Summer (2009)

I wasn't exactly sold on the movie at first, but somehow, it really hit home for me.

I caught it recently and thought it was pretty decent; I actually really dug the soundtrack.

I'm enjoying the movie, but I can't stand how Summer failed to provide a single damn reason why this isn't The One.

And why on earth should I?

As if love were some sort of mathematical equation that actually requires—or even allows for—a logical explanation.

Sometimes there isn't even a specific reason you can point to. After a while, you just realize it’s not working.

Edit: In this particular case, the situation is pretty transparent. Right from the start, she made it clear she wasn't looking for anything serious—just something casual while they were together. He agreed to those terms at the time. But eventually, what started as a crush turned into actual love on his end, whereas for her, it never went that far. Looking back, he's realized the responsibility for where things stand lies squarely with him.

I actually thought the movie was pretty charming! I caught it a few years back... It’s just well-rounded, funny, romantic, and honestly? It hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Infatuation isn't some predictable math equation—it’s far more erratic. Love is closer to that, really, because infatuation eventually evolves into love for reasons we can barely grasp.
In any case, I think she should have given him those reasons just to make things easier—purely out of respect for their friendship.
