What kind of pills are you guys taking to calm down inflammation from a cyst? My doctor prescribed Ketonal, but man, it absolutely wrecks my stomach and I just can't keep popping those constantly. The pharmacist gave me some Diclorapid which helps every now and then, but honestly, I'm just over all these little pills. I've been drinking all sorts of teas—chamomile, fennel, cranberry... does anyone have anything that actually settles inflammation without relying on heavy-duty meds?

What kind of inflammation can Ketonal actually soothe? Those are just pain relief tablets, not some magic cure for resolving an underlying inflammatory process.

Look, once that inflammation kicks in, you know it's happening. Honestly, everyone knows Ketoral can settle even a workhorse, mostly because in my book, it's a much stronger pill. Gin herself actually told me to just take some Ketoral whenever things flare up, and it works like a charm for me every single time. Of course, a single pill probably hits everyone differently—it might be a lifesaver for one person and do absolutely nothing for someone else. But I think my point was pretty clear: if anyone out there has a go-to recommendation for calming down inflammation, please, let me know!

I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about. When we discuss an infection, we are referring to a bacterial or viral invasion of an organ or a specific part of the body. Such an infection demands actual medical treatment, not merely attempts to soothe the symptoms. Furthermore, infections and cysts aren't inherently linked—unless, of course, you're dealing with endometriosis, in which case a ruptured cyst could potentially lead to sepsis.
So, let me be clear: pain relievers are not a cure for any kind of infection; they simply serve to mitigate the discomfort, just as their name implies. If those pains are indeed the byproduct of an infection, you might take a pill to dull the ache, but you absolutely must treat the underlying infection with antibiotics. You don't want to risk infertility or losing your ovaries because of negligence.

If you have a cyst that becomes infected for whatever unknown reason, the solution is surgical intervention, not attempting to "treat" it with nothing more than painkillers.

But then again, I suppose I shouldn't be lecturing someone who seems so utterly bewildered about the very nature of their own cyst.

Hi, there’s just one thing I’ve never quite wrapped my head around... when a doctor performs an ultrasound and sees something clearly, can they tell right away if it’s going to clear up on its own—maybe with some medication or birth control—or can they spot those things where they think surgery needs to happen immediately?

I don't think they can. If those functional cysts don't clear up on their own within two months, they start digging—sorry, performing other tests—just to see what's going on. It's like my situation; mine is three-chambered, much like a 😬 Thissenov PVC profile, so it was immediately obvious it wasn't functional.

It’s no secret. I have thyroid issues, so my doctor thinks we need to get my thyroid under control before making any calls about the cyst. Maybe it'll just vanish once things settle down with the thyroid—okay, fine, that part was just wishful thinking on my end, not medical advice.

Hi.
Back in October, Ginić found some microcysts on both my ovaries, and now that I've been on Yaz for two months, I’m starting to get this light, occasional bleeding... just sort of a bloody mucus discharge, and sometimes there’s this dull ache down there, even though I shouldn't be getting my period for another two weeks. Is it possible those cysts actually ruptured... I have no clue what to do, whether I should go back to see Ginić or if this is all just totally normal, so what do you guys think... thanks!

Dear Iva, I was taking Yaz for three months—but I had to stop because I gained an insane amount of weight. During my first month on it, my cycle was 27 days, along with some light brownish discharge... plus, about two and a half years ago, I had surgery for ovarian cysts that got really complicated, so I barely made it out alive.
And if anyone wants to ask anything about ovarian cysts, please feel free—unfortunately, I had to deal with all of that when I was only 17.5 years old.😢

It’s definitely possible—it happens to me too—and when my period finally arrives, I end up with this discharge that looks like clotted blood (honestly, it's just the remnants of those cysts rupturing)....

Also, I was using Ginophilus vaginal suppositories every morning and night for about seven days, and they seriously helped clear everything up—I'm feeling much less pain now...

Last June, I ended up in the ER because of some intense pain. They found a 2.5 cm cyst on my ovary. After that, they put me on Duphaston, which I took for five months. Since the pain finally stopped, I figured the cyst had just burst or something... But I went in for an ultrasound yesterday and nope—it didn't burst, it actually grew by over a centimeter!
My doctor told me to stay on Duphaston for one more month but at a higher dose, three times a day, then come back to see her.
She also gave me an "option" to start birth control, which I definitely don't want, or she'll just poke the cyst with a needle...😲
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of thing?

I have a 2.4 cm cyst myself. It doesn't hurt and it isn't bothering me at all, so I don't get why my OBGYN is insisting I have to have my ovary removed. There is absolutely no way I'm agreeing to surgery, and I don't even have another gynecologist to go to for a second opinion. 😢

So, that needle idea sounds pretty great to me.

Woke up this morning with intense pain in my lower abdomen. At first, I figured it was just my period coming on since there were a few drops of blood, but then the pain shifted over to the right side.
Took two Advil, which did absolutely nothing...
I’ve dealt with kidney stones before, but this wasn't that, nor was it typical menstrual cramping.
Went to see my doctor, who sent me for blood and urine tests just so she wouldn't miss anything. She isn't sure if it's an ovarian issue or a stone.
No more bleeding since those initial drops.

My stomach still hurts, though maybe not quite as sharply as before. Could these be cysts?...

Remove an ovary 😲 ?????? Switch doctors immediately. It’s not just "oh, let's just pull an ovary out." And what kind of cyst is it? Mine is fluid-filled. Or at least, that's what they tell me.

I have no clue what "clear" even means. They didn't run any specific tests on it; all I know is what showed up on the ultrasound—2.4 cm, trilaminar.

I figured I’d jump in here and share my own situation and the panic I've been dealing with.
For several months now, I've been struggling with these strange abdominal pains, specifically localized around my right ovary and kidney—or at least, that's how it feels to me.
Last year, because of this, I went through a full abdominal ultrasound, a color Doppler of my legs, and a gynecological exam. Everything came back perfectly fine on the ultrasound, and manual palpation felt normal too. My urine culture was also sterile.
However, my PAP test wasn't entirely clear; there was some mild inflammation. I need to redo it at my next appointment, but this time I’m going to insist on DNA method swabs.
That unusual pain still haunts me—it's either a sudden, sharp stabbing sensation or a heavy feeling, like someone is sitting on that side... and I can feel it clearly toward my kidney. It fluctuates between being brief and constant.
It triggers a lot of anxiety in me, and I have a tendency to spiral into the worst-case scenarios.
Right now, the pain is a bit more intense, and my period is already three days late.
I just want to get all these additional tests done as soon as possible without a massive wait, because my own thoughts are absolutely killing me.

Maybe you have some cysts that burst, so they weren't showing up on the ultrasound before. Honestly, I’d say just go get an ultrasound when the pain is really hitting you hard.
And the fact that it hurts now? Not surprising at all, especially since your period is late.
Don't stress too much... 😉
