Hey Lisa Myers, thanks for getting back to me so fast. Our plans totally flipped on us—we ended up bolting off to Austin last Friday instead.
I hit up a ton of shops over in the suburbs; I really went for it. 😁
Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by the size availability—I’m usually hunting for 16, 18, or 20 depending on how things fit—but the selection itself? Pretty meh, regardless of size. And the discounts are just average, pretty much what we see back home.
I picked up a bunch of basics and essentials—Primark is basically their holy grail, snagged a whole bag of tees, undies, and socks for maybe thirty bucks—grabbed some pants and a shirt at C&A (stuff you could find anywhere stateside), a top at H&M (where the selection is mostly total trash), and a plain tee at Adler (pricey, but okay if there's a sale, though the style is super dated, kind of like what Victora mentioned). Bonita is also geared toward the 40+ crowd, but I didn't even step inside because the prices in the window looked insane for such basic stuff. As for sOliver, Tom Taylor, and Esprit? The selection is honestly underwhelming. I poked around the shoe section too—you might actually find something higher quality than what we have here.
All in all, most of this stuff is available back home for similar prices, so I'm questioning if the trip was even worth the gas. It's definitely not what it used to be 😒.

I don't think it's even worth hunting through stores that just have terrible or mediocre selections. Nowadays, almost all the "modern" brands have their own plus-size departments with massive variety. For instance, during the sales—which happen pretty often—Mango Violeta has trousers starting from $33, ranging from business to casual styles. Tops, blouses, sweaters up to $50, coats around $300-$$133, and so on. Plus, you can find tons of stuff on Poshmark that’s completely brand new and even cheaper than at Mango.

Their clothes are high quality, colors don't fade, and when they have sales, they have a good mix of both winter and summer items.

It’s basically just like yours. 🤣I picked up two pairs of slippers for my kid. One pair was like cheap Uggs for about $3, and the other "normal" pair was around $8. I’m not expecting either to last longer than a few wears, but honestly, I don't care. I also grabbed a 4-pack of underwear for $8. At those prices, I might as well just hit up a Target instead. That’s the Primark experience for you. Truthfully, I wouldn't have even stepped foot in there if I hadn't been helping a friend pick out boots. I can't stand the chaos in those stores. I actually had a panic attack.
Peek is a huge step down from what I remember being available two years ago back in the city. It just doesn't hold a candle to the selection they used to have.
H&M is a classic. Honestly, they probably have more variety here in the States than they do back home. I actually went ahead and asked their chat support if they even carry a plus-size section. Of course they said yes—they claim to have everything. But once I actually stepped foot in the store, I realized their idea of "plus size" is basically just an L or an XL. Real funny. 🙄.
Check out the fits at Gap and Old Navy. Grab two shirts for looking sharp at Target and Kohl's.

Which stores are we even talking about? My sister (she's a size 6) had a pretty lousy experience. Not really because of the price tags, just... the selection was kind of pathetic.

I remember Kleider Bauer having amazing clothes up to maybe a US size 12, or even a 14, but mostly smaller sizes. Now, don't kill me, I can't recall the exact brand, but the shops were practically empty even though the pieces were gorgeous—everything from beachwear to office attire to wedding guest outfits. That says a lot 🙂. For the most part, everything was at least half off. Peek had some great deals for slim builds too, and C&A was decent, while Adler had excellent selections from brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Esprit. Most of the stores I’ve visited had a solid range of smaller sizes. Honestly, I can't quite remember where that specific shop was or what I bought there. Since I usually stick to stores that *should* carry plus-size options, it might be that those specific items aren't in the plus-size sections, so we just aren't seeing the same stuff. For instance, I never step foot in New Yorker. They simply don't have my size. So, when I talk about availability, I'm talking about the stores I actually shop at for myself. They happen to carry "slim" stock too, but if a store doesn't fit me, I don't even bother walking in.

Thinking about it now—yeah, you're right... I remember spotting some Tom Taylor and Esprit pieces back at the Adler mall that weren't even in their official stores.

Ladies—does anyone happen to know where I can pick up some actually decent, high-impact sports bras for an E/F cup? I need something that won't fail during intense workouts—real support, not just wishful thinking. An online shop is perfectly fine, provided they ship to the States. 😉

I haven't bothered looking at their athletic wear—usually, those standard cuts don't offer much more than a C cup anyway. So, what you're saying is—the actual sports bras actually provide better coverage?

Over the last couple of years, I picked up maybe four or five, I can't quite remember the exact number right now.
Anyway, they actually have some that are perfect for heavy-duty sports like martial arts—which was honestly ideal for my training sessions since we were doing full-body contact and just constant action—and then there are the slightly looser ones that are still pretty sturdy.
For that kind of price point (under like ten bucks), they're honestly pretty decent.
I haven't stepped foot in a Kmart in the last month or two, but this stuff has always been part of their regular stock.

Also, you can sometimes find stuff at Target when they have one of those big sports equipment weeks. They’re good too, just varying levels of how much they actually "keep everything under control."
