Hey there.
Has anyone here ordered a one-piece swimsuit from Bonprix? I’m trying to figure out if their sizing actually runs true to size. Their shipping takes forever, so if I end up needing an exchange, it might not even arrive until next summer.

What a complete disaster. We’re living in an era where the whole push is supposed to be about promoting plus-size inclusivity, yet here in America, we can barely find a single standard retail store that carries anything above a size 16.👎👎👎

You’ve still got NKD, Target, or even C&A... and honestly, if you're hovering around a size 48, you can usually scavenge an XL at H&M from their LOGG or Divided collections if you look hard enough.

Me? I mostly just hit up NKD and then supplement everything by ordering from ASOS.

Well, obviously there isn't enough demand, so why would they bother keeping it?
Actually, that’s kind of a good sign. Means we aren't quite a bloated, overstuffed state just yet.

Well, sure, there's also S.Oliver, or if you dig deep enough in Zara you might find some larger sizes, plus LC Waikiki...

Honestly, I’ve never been able to find anything decent at s.Oliver or Zara. It’s like they don't even carry my size. In my opinion, you can basically only shop there if you're around a US size 14 or 16.

And don't even get me started on those "XXL" labels. We all know how much of a joke sizing is these days. A friend of mine just picked up some stuff from Zara—a shirt and some pants with an elastic waist—and honestly? Based on my gut feeling (and hey, I actually studied this back in the day, so I know what I'm talking about), she's probably more of a size 10 or 12.

We’ve been a bloated state for the last 10-15 years, so did H&M really need a special department just for "bloated" people?

And now we've suddenly slimmed down, so there's no need anymore?

If that's how it works, why is C&A still carrying large sizes? Maybe someone should let them know we aren't a bloated state anymore so they can clear out their inventory too...

The comment isn't stupid. Look, if it were actually profitable, H&M would have kept the line going. One store catering to larger sizes is enough, provided the math works out.

There’s also this online shop out there that probably actually works. Might be worth a look if you're feeling optimistic, though I wouldn't hold my breath.

Like, honestly, at my height, I *should* probably be wearing a size 6 or an 8, but finding anything above a 12 feels like a scavenger hunt where the prize is just more baggy fabric. And don't even get me started on how inconsistent these brands are—it's a joke! You see an "XL" on the tag and think, "Great, finally some room," only to realize it fits more like a Medium? How does that even happen?

So, I was checking out the H&M over at One City Center, and they actually have some long-sleeve tops in the XL to 4XL range. And get this—they’re tucked right in with the clearance stuff.
Probably just some leftover stock from Westgate or something.

Does anyone happen to have some experience with Samoon—specifically, could someone help me compare them to the standard Gerry Weber sizing? I typically wear a 42 in Gerry Weber, but I’m feeling a bit uncertain—would Samoon run large, or would I be better off sticking to my usual? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

So, I picked up some stuff at the Importante Gallery—you know, using that entrance from the courtyard side, where the very first shop on your right is the one with all the tees and underwear? They had some Italian pieces, and honestly, they weren't breaking the bank at all, just totally fine prices. They’ve got a decent selection if you actually take a second to ask the staff what's available. I grabbed something there for a Christmas get-together with my new coworkers; I wore it then and haven't really touched it since, but the quality was great. They run pretty high-waisted too, which is perfect for keeping everything tucked in tight. A little bit of a muffin top happens under the arms, but hey, what can you do, right? 🙂

I noticed that C&A has larger sizes available online now. Has anyone here actually ordered from them? How are the sizing expectations?

Does anyone know a really good, affordable seamstress who can handle some shortening, tapering, or maybe even a complete redesign? Or honestly, someone who can just sew something from scratch?

I ordered this lovely summer blouse from C&A, but honestly, it’s way too big on me. It was labeled as a size 48-50, but I really should have gone with a 44-46 because this feels more like a 50. You know how those German sizing standards and cuts can be—it just runs huge. I’m letting it go for five dollars less than what I paid, $62. It's made of viscose, which is such a breezy, comfortable material for the summer, very modern too. I'm based in Chicago. I really don't feel like driving all the way back just to return one single blouse when everything else in my order was perfect, so I figured I'd just sell it here instead.
