I grabbed an XXL, but they're way too big on me. Honestly, their size chart is a joke; I’d say these run like a US size 16 or even 18, depending on the cut. If anyone needs these sizes, shoot me a DM—I’m thinking of selling them instead of dealing with the hassle of returns. The quality is actually great, really nice pieces, they just look huge on me. The white shirt is definitely an 18, while the beige one and the grey cardigan are more like a 14 or 16.

Regarding thigh chafing—I used to wear cropped nylon tights or cotton biker shorts under my cycling gear to keep my skin from rubbing. The downside with the tights is they tend to slip around—not ideal—and the biker shorts get pretty sweaty if it's summer. But for fall or spring? They work just fine.

My last two trips for that kind of thing—both wedding shopping hauls—were at Nordstrom and Macy's. Once you step inside those stores downstairs, you can actually find just about anything, and they actually carry decent sizes too. Also, take a look at Banana Republic; people tend to overlook them, but the selection and sizing are surprisingly solid. My only hesitation there is how formal their collection goes—I haven't specifically hunted for high-end evening wear there yet. All this is for shopping in Chicago, obviously.🙂

I also stumbled upon some pretty lovely dresses at H&M. Not for a formal wedding, sure, but for things like a funeral or a "let's dress up for our anniversary" kind of vibe? Definitely.

Based on my own experience—and I say this with a fair amount of skepticism—not really. You might stumble upon some basic tees or casual stuff if you look hard enough, but finding jackets, blazers, or actual trousers? That’s a different story entirely. It’s all quite thin on substance.

How do you all usually navigate their sizing? Do you actually bother using their size charts, or is that just wishful thinking?
I mean, I realize every single manufacturer has their own specific sizing standards, so nothing is ever truly consistent across the board...🤔

I check the specific chart for every single brand and go from there.

Honestly, I don't give a damn about Boohoo’s size charts because they never seem to align with reality.
I always find myself having to size up by one for dresses and jeans—sometimes even two—and when it comes to sweaters, I’m easily jumping up two or three sizes just to get a decent fit.

T-shirts are usually more or less fine, though.

Does anyone have any recommendations for shops in the city where I can try on larger sizes? Honestly, my online shopping spree was a total disaster—not exactly my specialty—so I’ve pretty much given up on it. I’d much rather just go in person, try things on, and actually see how they look on me, you know?
