It’s actually refreshing to see women who aren't built like fitness models and don't let it get to them, because frankly, they're a rare breed, and there’s zero reason to stress about it.

My weight is pretty evenly distributed, so I might look thinner than my actual scale number suggests, but I hold my own—and I’ve always received compliments rather than being mocked. These kinds of posts from people like above only serve to make insecure girls feel self-conscious for no reason, making them want to hide under oversized tents instead of just dressing well.

Most of my family tends to be a bit more sturdy, so why on earth would I get depressed just because I inherited those genes? I couldn't care less. I hope everyone else feels the same way, because we shouldn't pity the ones who become targets for jokes; we should pity the ones who actually let it get to them.😁

👍
You nailed it, I'm totally with you on everything!

I have seriously never seen this much negativity toward plus-sized people coming from someone who is plus-sized herself! And honestly, your workplace sounds like a total nightmare—dropping to that level of unprofessionalism and openly critiquing how people look at work is just shameful... 👎
It’s like you’re trying so hard to act superior to us, but if you're going to take the high road, you should actually be a bit wiser about it. Like, give some real advice—tell people to enjoy life and wear whatever makes them happy since we only get one shot at this, rather than soaking up insults from people who are clearly just insecure. At the end of the day, only people who aren't happy with themselves lash out like that. They probably hate that a "poor little plus-size girl" can afford to be so free. It seems like some people think being larger means being more insecure, but sometimes those folks are just happier and even crueler. Clearly, you're letting your life be shaped by what some random jerk might say. And then we're the ones left feeling self-conscious in our dresses ☕
I also agree this belongs in a shopping thread. Just scroll back a few pages and see who actually started all this.

Peter Gray2, I don't usually follow this thread, but I had to jump in and give you a shout-out too 👍 You put outfits together so beautifully without it ever looking basic or boring. Love it!

I don’t really see myself as "thick," more like I’m just comfortably filled out in all the right places 😬 Honestly, hunting for pants is my absolute least favorite thing in the world; I genuinely loathe it 😠 I can barely find anything that fits because my backside basically has its own political agenda at this point O.o 😁. If I try anything skinny, they won’t even make it past my hips or butt, and don't even get me started on extra skinny—those won't even clear my calves 😂 and those trapezoid cuts? Absolutely horrific, they just distort my entire shape 😲 Usually, I just grab a straight-leg pair and then take them to a tailor to taper them at the thighs or calves if I need to, which gives me these custom semi-skinny jeans that actually look decent 🙂
For those of you who actually brave the cold in dresses, where do you usually shop? I’ve been totally obsessed with dresses this year because they’re just way more comfortable, they hang better, and they're so much easier to style. I’m dying to pick up something for winter, but everywhere I go, it’s still nothing but summer vibes—I guess the new collections haven't hit the shelves yet 🤷

I truly believe nobody should be out here discriminating against themselves; you've gotta love your body exactly as it is. Once you actually feel good in your own skin, other people will start to respect you too. People who constantly nitpick everyone else's looks are usually just projecting their own insecurities onto others. They really ought to take a good look at themselves before they start judging anyone else.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much, ladies! 😍

Honestly, it’s like my body parts have their own separate agendas—my butt, my waist, my thighs, even my calves—they all seem to be running their own little governments. Every single pair of pants I buy ends up needing a trip to the tailor because they’re always perfect in one spot but way too loose in the hips or waist, so they just slide right off. But if I try to size down? Forget about it; they won't even make it past my calves. I absolutely live for shopping for pants, though! 🙂
I’m actually planning on picking up a few winter dresses soon. I’ve never really owned any, so I’m curious to see how they feel. 😍 I’ll probably try to hunt some down during my next trip to Europe.

Peter Gray2, I'm right there with brightrider95. You are absolutely adorable, and you have great style. You know how to highlight your curves without being over the top about it. 😍 Both skirts and dresses look fantastic on you. 😍 And honestly, thanks for sharing the photos. 😍 😁

Anyway, enough about you. 😁

On another note:

Does anyone have recommendations for where to find good, affordable XXL tights or hold-ups? 😬

For me, Calzedonia is the gold standard, assuming you aren't living somewhere way out in the sticks without one nearby.

I swear by the low-rise ones, probably around size $12 I think.

Yeah, honestly, even my moms are regulars at the local tailor's, mostly because they always need stuff hemmed or taken up anyway 🤦
I’m actually thinking about treating myself to some cute little winter dresses 😍 for the first time, but I have absolutely no clue where to start looking 😢

How big are those Calzedonia stay-ups, really?
I picked up some of their tights this summer ( $2.75 they were, so I figured—why not? 🤣) in a size 4. They looked massive when I first opened the package, but in the end, I could barely even pull them halfway up my thighs...😍

Anyway, I don't really wear dresses. I just don't feel comfortable in them. Honestly, I think I'm so used to wearing pants or skirts with a waistband that I feel like something is missing when I'm in a dress 🤣. It’s such a bummer because there are so many cute styles out there.
And pants are a whole different struggle. I have strong legs, especially my thighs and hips, and my waist is pretty defined. Every pair of pants I try on—if they actually fit my hips and thighs, the waist is way too loose. It just gapes right above my butt.😠

Ugh, tell me about it. Everything either gaps at my waist, or if the cut is too tight, I basically show everything when I squat 😬. For our body type, I guess fitted A-line dresses are probably best? They highlight the waist and hide the hips, which probably makes you look ten pounds lighter.🙏

Since you guys wouldn't stop raving about it, I finally had to go check out Freakette! 😛 That outfit is killer—honestly, those high-waisted pieces without pants are my absolute vibe. Where on earth did you grab them?

Ugh, don't even get me started on pants.... lately I’ve just been hitting up C&A, they actually carry petite sizes where the number is the same but the length isn't ridiculous. If I get lucky and find a pair that actually fits, I don't have to deal with the hassle, but honestly? It feels like I always end up at the tailor just to get the waist taken in... such a pain.
I used to pick up dresses there too, though I usually ended up feeling pretty bummed because their selection is basically non-existent most of the time.
Now, S.Oliver has some gorgeous dresses (I actually spotted this one stunning charcoal grey one recently 😁), but ugh, for my budget? Way too pricey. Like, unless there's a massive clearance sale, I might have to try my luck at a thrift store or something.

And yeah, wearing dresses is totally just a habit thing now. At first, I felt so weird in them—kind of felt "extra" or whatever—but now? I literally can't live without them. Not even in the summer, and especially not when it gets freezing outside.
My absolute favorite look is definitely a midi dress paired with tall boots.

As for me, things are always way tighter in the back than they are in the front. So when I finally sit down, the waistband just digs right into my stomach and you can totally see my underwear peeking out from the back...🤣

Oh, and Alex Hall4, I know exactly where to find those Calzedonia pieces—they're at the Westgate mall and that Rose boutique over in St. Croix.

Does anyone even carry Calzedonia anymore? 😳

In New York, you've got Times Square; in Chicago, you've got the Loop; in LA, you've got Hollywood. That’s the level of action I recognize—maybe there are a few other spots out there, but those are the only ones that count. 😁

I'm a size 4, no question. I can squeeze into a 14 if I'm feeling particularly stubborn, though. 😬
I don't have particularly strong thighs, and I barely even have any glutes to speak of; my real struggle is dealing with my waist and hips. 😁

Where can I find a Calzedonia in St. Louis, and does anyone know if they have one in San Diego? Please drop the addresses here! 😁

In Split, it’s right on Marmontova, near the Zara store, and over in Zadar, it’s tucked away in that shopping center near Interspar.
If my memory serves me right—and I'm certain about this—there's an outlet in Dugopolje similar to the one in Začretje, but honestly, I have zero clue how to actually get there since I only ever pass through by bus.😁

When I was in Split, I hit up Intimissimi; they usually sit side-by-side. For Zadar, all I saw was a massive sign outside, but I didn't bother stepping foot inside the mall, so I'll reserve the right to say my info might be outdated since I don't actually live in either of those cities.😬

Thanks so much! 🙂I got them at Top Shop. I actually wore them today, and honestly, the waist is running a little loose on me now, but it’s fine—it's not like I can just walk out of the house without them anyway!😬

You can find those winter dresses at the Orsay mall and H&M (that's where I usually grab mine), but they aren't in stock just yet since the new shipments haven't landed. I can't say for sure because I haven't been over in Orsay for about a month, but looking back at the last couple of years, I picked up the H&M B&B line during the January sales. Basically, they'll be there, and you'll definitely find some cute ones. 🙂

I don't know. Maybe it’s just me, but I think cherry blossoms get way too much hype. They're fine, I guess. Just trees that bloom for a week and then leave you hanging. Not really worth the fuss. kaže:
Where can I find a Calzedonia in St. Louis, and where is one in Sarasota? Looking for addresses. 😁

For the girls who don't know, there’s an Intimissimi and Calzedonia outlet over in the Podi area of Dugopolje. They're right next to each other. I haven't actually made it there yet, but I've heard some things from other girls. Apparently, you can find lingerie in "normal" sizes—meaning they actually carry the standard stuff, not just the tiny or huge numbers that are usually impossible to find. As for tights, though... 😬Honestly, they have them in every size and color imaginable, and they look pretty damn good. So, I guess if you've got a ride, you should probably go check them out! 😉

Just a quick tip for the ladies who deal with those monthly cramps...
Go ahead and pick up some cotton panties specifically for this purpose. They’re incredibly lightweight and comfortable, but I recommend getting ones with a slightly higher waist so they provide that immediate sense of compression. They really work. You won't feel overheated during the summer, and they stay perfectly discreet. Plus, they come in larger sizes—up to about 130, if you're measuring by panty size—and usually arrive within $33 days.

So I was scrolling through Peter Gray2's photos too, and honestly? Her style is killer, and her figure is... wow, just wow (!)... I'm not even sure if I'm reading this thread right, like, was she suggested as an inspiration for girls who want to dress more "full-figured" or is she actually being labeled as one herself? Because looking at her... I don't know, man, she doesn't give off that vibe at all... she just doesn't look it...
