Linda Johnson15, I already linked that site—those dresses are absolutely gorgeous 😍, but they only ship to the States 😢. Maybe I'll wait for a special occasion and see if I can charm someone into bringing them back for me—they really do have the cutest stuff, plus they do custom sizing 👍.

They arrived yesterday. Honestly—super happy with how they fit. Total win. 🙂

I think it's because of my hips; the fabric just swallows my legs and makes me look like two giant marshmallows. 😂

🤣🤣🤣

So glad those pants work out for you! 🙂

There aren't any large numbers left at H&M anymore 😢—except maybe over at Westgate... just a total disaster...

Dorothy Perkins has a 20% discount on full-priced items. I picked up a dress and some kind of long top:

I just picked up some black rib leggings in size 42-32 from $27 for the first time. Honestly, I’ve never felt more comfortable in my life, and they definitely weren't cheap.

Hey there, all you beautiful ladies out there! 👋

So, this summer I finally went down the rabbit hole of online shopping. Spent way too much money—total splurge, honestly—but looking back, it was actually worth it. After ordering a mountain of pants, tees, shirts, blazers, and scarves, I’d say I missed the mark on size or quality maybe 10% of the time, which isn't a bad ratio if you ask me. 😁

I stumbled upon Lands' End through this thread, so I figured I'd sign up and leave some reviews for the stuff I picked up.
Everything I got was from their outlet section because, let's be real, the full-price stuff is a bit steep for my budget. The quality is legit, though—feels like it'll actually last.

image
My version of this shirt is this light turquoise blue. It fits great, it's long enough, hugs the body without being weird, and it's super comfy. Plus, it's easy to iron. Definitely a solid buy.

image
This one is sooo soft—like, seriously cozy against the skin. It's got those 2-3 layers in the front depending on where you look. It hangs nicely, but man, it stretches *a lot*. I definitely botched the sizing here; it looks decent right after a wash, but after sitting down a couple of times, I've got excess fabric everywhere. Didn't bother returning it because shipping is a killer 😁, and honestly, the fabric is just too soft to pass up.

image
A really high-quality, polished little shirt. It has plenty of stretch, but just enough to hold its shape. It's long enough too—I need things to hit at least mid-rear, you know? Just don't wear it when it's warm out. I tried it once when it was around 70°F and felt like I was wearing a tarp—probably because the fabric is so thick. Looks great tucked into some trousers, though.

I'm thinking about placing another order soon, so if anyone wants to split the shipping costs, hit me up! That would be awesome.

I also grabbed some stuff from New Look—mostly pants—and I'm loving them. Also picked up some tops from Yours, and the fit is spot on.
Now I'm on the hunt for some cotton pajamas that won't break the $25 mark. Any ideas?

Anyway, I'm loving this thread; I've practically read every single page. Let's keep it going... 😍

One more thing... is there a specific thread where I can sell a few new items that didn't fit? Either here or somewhere else?

Jeremy Cox49, glad you joined the thread! 😍

Glad you found those links useful 🙂 and that your orders arrived okay. Thanks for the Lands' End review, too—pretty sure you're the first person here to try them, and it's great news that the quality holds up (their stuff is cute, by the way 😍). Now the rest of us can finally start clearing out our shopping carts. 🤣

As for selling things, I think you’ll have better luck getting eyes on your items in this thread since the target audience is right here, though I'm not sure if the moderators allow it. Might be best to just shoot one of them a DM and ask if posting clothes for sale is cool here? 🤷

Just a quick update from me. 🙂 I mentioned before that I was hunting for a leather jacket (I thought I'd just stick to faux leather again), but I haven't found anything I actually like. Anyway, I ended up snagging a real leather jacket on eBay for like $15. 😍 It's basically brand new. Some lady in the Midwest lost some weight and was clearing out her closet. 🤣 I think it'll be nice, but I'll post photos once it gets here. Her pictures were pretty terrible—probably why there wasn't much competition on the bid. We'll see.

Between those knee-high boots everyone was talking about and everything else, I've pretty much got what I need. Except for snow boots. My cobbler said he could fix my current pair since they've been leaking, so I'll try that first—the prices for new ones online are just ridiculous right now. 😬

Someone once asked me about the Marielle Burani outlet. My sister shops there for plus-size clothing, so I finally looked into where the outlet actually is. It’s located in Cavriago, over in Emilia-Romagna, which is roughly a two-hour drive from Venice. My sister heads there specifically for coats, trousers, suits, and general professional attire. Prices can be up to 50% off, I think. She claims this particular spot has the best selection of Burani pieces; apparently, there's another one in Barberino, but she says the variety there just isn't as good. From what I gather, they carry sizes up to a 56, which I suppose would be the equivalent of a US size 22.
Anyway, I hope that helps 🙂

How do you even navigate eBay without losing your mind? Do you filter by size? And any hacks for shipping? I once bought an Evans jacket from some woman over in the UK and the shipping ended up being more than $33, when the jacket itself was only about $13. 🙂

I just type "US16" or "US18" directly into the search bar—no spaces—or I use both sizes using the "OR" feature in advanced search so the system catches them. Then, I use the left column to filter for women's clothing specifically shipped from the US, and I set the top right to sort by price + shipping, lowest to highest. It makes it way easier to find sellers willing to ship for a reasonable rate. That’s actually how I found this jacket—it didn't pop up in my initial search, but I noticed a seller had great shipping rates, so I checked their feedback and what else they were selling.

I try to check in maybe once every couple of weeks, add interesting auctions to my watchlist, and if nobody seems to be bidding or things get quiet, well, I just deal with it. 🙂

I haven't actually spent much time browsing eBay lately—just that one skirt, which I honestly didn't think anyone would bid on, and now this jacket because nothing else is cheaper 🙂 (I wasn't expecting astronomical prices since the photos weren't great; those kinds of auctions usually end with lower bids anyway).

It's not that I enjoy stalking eBay that much, but man, you really can find amazing stuff for next to nothing. 🙂 You just need enough motivation to actually do the digging. 😬

With shipping included, this jacket ended up being $63, and $67 was pretty much my psychological limit. 😬

Thanks for breaking it all down. I might have to start adding some of those tricks to my own eBay hunts. 😁
Some days I’m absolutely obsessed—total mania—and other days, honestly, I just can't be bothered to fight through the jungle. 😁

Hey there, lovely ladies,
I’ve been scrolling through these threads and it seems like most of you end up ordering your plus-size clothes online. But honestly, wouldn't it be so much better if there was actually a specialized boutique—somewhere that curates larger sizes from all the different brands under one roof? Just so we could actually try things on, feel the fabric, and if it fits right, grab it on the spot without the guessing game. I’ve been mulling over the idea of opening a shop like that in a major US city, maybe somewhere like Chicago or Philly... what do you all think? Would I even be able to make a living at it...

The issue with those kinds of shops is they can't cater to everyone—we're all spread out everywhere. 😉 Plus, we aren't all looking for the same style (it varies so much based on body type, personal taste, or even just age).

Your question is a bit too broad, though. "Curvy" isn't really a specific enough target audience. It’s kind of like asking if you could open a store for "normal people." 🤷

There are tons of online boutiques for curvier women, but I don't look at them much—honestly, I'm just not their target demographic (I actually feel bad for some of them, like Pepperberry, since they cut their clothes for someone about 5'5", and I'm 5'11"; the proportions just don't work for me).

If someone opened something similar to eShakti, where dresses could be tailored to your specific height and proportions—now *that* would definitely be a hit. 🙂

My package arrived last night with some bras and panties, and I have to say, getting three bras plus matching undies for $100 was actually a pretty solid deal 😁

They're soft, cotton, and actually sturdy enough for my size (95F)

Super happy with this purchase
