I’m probably gonna sign up at Joker's. Does anyone here actually know what it's like there? Like, how are the trainers? Any vibes I should know about before I commit?

Does anyone know if there are any combat grappling gyms or serious training spots over in Split?

I'm curious about how to actually achieve a female split. I stretch and work on my flexibility every single day during training, but I'm still nowhere near it. Does anyone have any specific suggestions or advice??
My hip flexors are just incredibly tight.

Man, me too. After reading your post, 🤣 😍 😳
p.s. Just kidding, the recipe is simple. Every day, stand against a wall and lift one leg high, then do the same movement outward (sideways), similar to how ballet dancers train. After about three months, you should be able to hit the splits without any trouble.

It’s something like this:
I'm 14 years old and I want to start training MMA. Is there a club in the Chicago area near Midway that I could train at?

Start by training a basic combat sport first—I’d recommend Judo, Wrestling, or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Once you have that foundation, then you can start layering in elements from boxing, kickboxing, and things like that.

Does anyone happen to know where I can pick up some shurikens in the Chicago area? I’ve been scouring the internet, but I can’t seem to find any leads anywhere.🤷

I suppose they might not be available anymore, since they caught that Chinese guy.🤣

I think there were some shurikens available at Kwon.

There's "Leon Gym" over at the old training spot now. It's right by the tennis courts near the old Kraš plant.

Plus, you've got two clubs over in Dubrava... Ban and Extreme Cro Team.

Does anyone actually know what the membership fees are at the Adriatic Muay Thai club? And I guess—if they’re even still taking people—are they still accepting recreational members?
Can someone give me the lowdown on what the training sessions are actually like—and everything else? I guess if anyone’s been there, they could share some first-hand info.

Hey, quick question—does anyone know if there’s actually a Pride shop in Split? Or maybe somewhere nearby in the States? I was thinking about grabbing some gear, you know, just for fun, but I couldn't find anything specific online.

Can anyone tell me if there’s actually anyone training Daito-ryu in the greater metropolitan area?
I'm looking for a solid lead or a contact if anyone knows where the action is at.

Hey everyone! How’s it going?
I’ve been thinking lately—and please bear with me, I tend to wander when I get excited—that I really want to pick up a martial art! I’ve always been active, you know? I've been involved in sports my whole life, so the itch to move is definitely there. It feels like the right time to transition that athletic energy into something more disciplined... something with a bit more grit! Any suggestions for someone looking to make the leap from traditional sports to the mats?
Oh, I would absolutely love to try out some kind of martial art—you know, just to help me unwind a bit and finally blow off some steam!
And there I have it—balance! So, after spending way too much time falling down a rabbit hole on Google, I’ve realized that I am actually leaning most heavily toward Krav Maga, Jiu Jitsu, and...
Something similar to Ninjutsu or that Thai kickboxing—honestly, I can never quite tell the difference between them myself!—anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for a girl who’s got some serious grit?
A little bit of "action," if you will—and which clubs in the big city have those specific rates for women? Beyond that, I’ve always been absolutely fascinated by Japan.
I would honestly love nothing more than to dive deep into their culture and philosophy—and if there’s a specific martial art that serves as a gateway into all of that, I am absolutely all in!
To my dear friend... I have to admit, this approach is probably pretty naive—mostly because I don't know the first thing about these matters! So, please, any advice you can throw my way would be more than welcome. Every little bit helps!

Thanks!

Through practicing ninjutsu and aikido, you can pick up the fundamental building blocks of Japanese culture and philosophy. That should give you more than enough of a foundation to start your own independent research later on.
Every skill you mentioned comes with its own set of pros and cons, and here in the States, you'll find top-tier instructors for any of them.
Have you had a chance to sit in on a training session yet?

You can find Krav Maga all over town, but if you're looking for BJJ with a good mix of women, your best bet is at the local university club. For Muay Thai, check out Holly Spirit—they actually have a decent number of ladies training there. As for anything ninja-style, I'm drawing a blank. Just a heads up though, none of these places are going to teach you anything about Japanese history or culture, especially not Krav Maga...
