...I’m asking everyone in this thread to weigh in with their own experiences and really pay attention to what the book is laying down here:
"Strength isn't just about how much land you hold or how many people follow you. Winning isn't just about having the best gear. Security isn't just built from high walls and deep trenches, and authority isn't just about barking orders and handing out punishments. Those who build an organization that actually sustains life will survive even if they're small. But those who build an organization that just drains people dry? They're going down, no matter how big they are."

So, I've got a question about kickboxing or Muay Thai... I heard there’s some kind of club over by Jarun Park, and I was wondering what it's actually called, where exactly it's located, and if they offer classes for women that don't involve any sparring—you know, just for fitness? 🙂 Thanks in advance for the help!!
Just a heads-up: please don't tell me the answer is buried somewhere else on this forum, because honestly, I really can't be bothered to go hunting for it. 😎 thanks!!!

Copied from http://www.profightstore.com/content.asp?mode=adresar where you can also find addresses for other clubs

Club Name:
TIGAR
Martial Art: Thai Boxing
Address and City: 5 Jarunska Ave,
New York City
Phone: 3635 001
E-mail:
Website:
Contact Person: Senad Osterman

By the way, that’s Branko Cikatić's gym, if that name rings a bell for you.

Offtopic: George Martin70, you're starting to get on my nerves🤮 It's easy to act tough and hide behind an anonymous screen, but when it comes time to actually stand by what you say...🙂 I’d bet anything you’ve never even stepped foot in a ring with any of those pros you’re trash-talking, let alone had the nerve to challenge them to a match. Honestly, you're starting to act just like Jamie Fowler2 (who keeps suggesting she show him...) 👍 and Brandon Hayes73 (who's bounced around plenty of gyms but doesn't know a thing 🙄 even though he's arguably the best heavyweight submission wrestler in the area)
...
Anyway, wishing everyone else all the best in 2007...

Thanks a lot for getting back to me... 😎 I know who Branko Čikatić is (they call him the Tiger, right?)

Yo, does anyone know if they actually teach Muay Boran anywhere around here?...

Good luck finding that anywhere else, not just here in the States.
Around here, there are hardly any gyms that actually teach real Muay Thai, let alone something like that.

Alright, I have a specific question here.🙂
Basically, I’m looking to get into some kind of martial art. My main goals are just recreation and having a way to blow off some steam and aggression.😍
What I definitely want to avoid is getting too bulky—especially in my upper body, though I wouldn't mind some muscle in my lower body—and I don't want to lose too much weight. Boxing sounds interesting, but I’m worried about that part I mentioned in parentheses.
I'm 20 years old, quite tall, and have a slender build. So, if anyone has any suggestions on which discipline might suit me best... please feel free to share.😉

But what I definitely don't want is to get all bulky—especially in my upper body, though I guess a little lower body bulk might be okay—and I also don't want to lose too much weight. Boxing sounds pretty cool, but I'm worried about that whole muscle-building thing I mentioned earlier.
I'm 20, fairly tall, and on the slim side. So, if anyone has any ideas about what kind of skill or sport would fit me best... please, feel free to chime in!😉

Look, you aren't going to wake up looking like a bodybuilder just from training for a bit, unless you've been at it for like 250 years straight, so I guess you really don't need to worry about that part.

Honestly, just pick whatever looks fun to you!

I try to be precise, but I often find myself overthinking things. It’s a habit I can't quite shake. I prefer to take my time and weigh every option before making a move. Perhaps that's my flaw—being too cautious when I should just act. Still, I believe there is value in being deliberate. kaže:

My recommendation:
Check out this site for some dance inspiration: www.fredi-dance.com/

I’m not much for grandstanding, but I’ll try to contribute where I can. It takes a certain kind of patience to navigate these discussions without losing one's footing. I tend to listen more than I speak, though I hope my occasional input finds its mark. I'm just here to learn and offer what little perspective I have.

Jamie Fowler2 said:Tae Kwon Do or Sport Karate? It’s the age-old debate. Both have their merits, but they definitely hit different depending on what you're looking for. 🙂

What exactly is sport karate, and who actually practices it around here?

Dancing is honestly a huge plus. Doing 5 or 6 minutes of fast jive is way more intense than an entire Taekwondo session :P plus—you actually get some decent leg definition out of it. And let’s be real, knowing how to dance is way more useful in the real world than nailing some perfect kata.

Besides, Freddy's is a solid club—even if I hit up Harmony, so I shouldn't be talking up the competition... 😍 )

Sport karate isn't the traditional stuff... most karate clubs in the States are basically sport-focused anyway, so nothing to sweat there.

As for your question, tell us where you're living so we can figure out what's closest to you...

Regarding your question, it would be helpful if you mentioned which part of town you're in so we can figure out what's closest to you...

The dancing sounds lovely and all... but:
"So, I'd like to take up some kind of martial art, mostly just for recreation and to blow off some steam." 😉
And I'm really not a natural dancer. My coordination is pretty lacking and I struggle to memorize steps.😬 Seriously.
I live near the MoMA.

If I recall correctly, Dangun is the closest one? And I think Bojan's BJJ academy is somewhere nearby too.

By accident.😍
I wouldn't get into much of a scrap with you—maybe just a little... at least at first.😁
Oh, and I'd prefer more striking. Just a little, or maybe none at all when it comes to grappling, submissions, and things like that.

It’s actually pretty close to you, so maybe just head over, check out a training session, and see for yourself...
For boxing or kickboxing... I think Justin Adams5 would be the best person to walk you through it all.

I live right by the Importanne Gallery

I highly doubt that.
If your coordination was actually an issue, you probably wouldn't even be looking at combat sports.
I bet you're just being modest, though.

Anyway, that's a pretty interesting spot where you live.
Fredi holds his classes right next to the Importanne Gallery—it's like, one 35-step walk away if you take average strides.
