I mean, I don't think Jet Li has anything to do with Bagua. As far as I know, he mostly practiced Long Fist kung fu.

Check this out if you want to dive into some Wushu history. It’s basically a deep dive into Jet Li's martial arts journey and his whole career path. Pretty cool stuff for anyone interested in the technical side of things. I guess it's worth a look.
Jamie Fowler2 said:🤣 Legend. You’d think a guy would actually know something about actors if he doesn't know a thing about martial arts. But I guess you don't even know that. 😉
George Martin70 said:Yeah, you can tell right away he hasn't mastered anything. He's just like Cain’s sifu, or even 🤣 analogskipper74, constantly switching styles because he doesn't actually know his stuff. Ba gwa itself is incredibly complex. Take Cain—he can't wrap his head around her, let alone what she truly is. You don't just "train a little bit" and suddenly claim you understand her.
Forget all that nonsense about Cain teaching you everything in five minutes. If you're actually serious about Ba gwa, I could give you a recommendation... but don't expect an invitation. It's a long shot, and honestly, I have no idea where you're even coming from...
George Martin70 said:There’s this Chinese guy living in America—not some small-time hustler like that guy from the movies, but a legitimate Xingyi and Bagua master. He's based out in Seattle. I can get you his number, but honestly, who knows if he'll even bother taking on a student.
George Martin70 said:Change or application. He wouldn't even take you. Ba gua is top-tier martial arts—the peak of Chinese combat development. Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura actually trains Ba gua.

This space is for people with actual questions that can get real answers.
And maybe try being polite.

Hold up... Shoto Tanemura, the guy who left Bunjikan back in '84?
If you're just coming at me because I trained under Hao, then just say that. Tell me exactly what I'm doing wrong or saying wrong.
I don't care about any of that nonsense. You mentioned your Chinese contact in New Orleans does Xing Yi. That's what I want to see. If he actually has even a little bit of wu de, he won't be acting like you.
Go ahead, find a single post where I claim I'm training mystical stuff. 😛 Those hand movements (the five elements) that Hao teaches are just the entry level for Xing Yi. You can't understand the art without practicing them. Don't take my word for it—just ask your guy.
George Martin70 said:That damn Shoto.
Did you train under Hao? So you’re done learning now? Or did he just teach you everything there is to know?
I'm not gonna sit here and explain it to you—you gotta see it for yourself.
What exactly do you want me to say, about how I carry myself?
Exactly. Hao only teaches the basics—the absolute bare minimum, really. He doesn't know anything beyond that.
