I was absolutely certain he’d be feeling better by now 👍

If the hospital is close enough, someone should just buy him a fishing rod and a box of worms so he can actually get some enjoyment out of this 😉

I spent the whole night reading this thread from the very first post to the last. I felt drawn to it because my grandfather spent decades in a similar kind of facility—though, sadly, it wasn't nearly as welcoming as what Kenneth Hernandez67 describes here. Even so, I would have been captivated regardless, simply because there is such an incredible amount of warmth in these words.
I might write about my grandfather’s story, or at least the small fragment of it that I remember, some other time. For now, all I can say is that people with hearts this big are incredibly rare. Kenneth Hernandez67, you truly are the embodiment of kindness. 😘
And to everyone else who filled this thread with such positive vibes😘

Look, maybe it’s not the most polite way to kick things off, but I’m dying to know—what’s the latest? Honestly, the main thing on my mind is how the parents took the Solution 😢
. I'm really hoping they gave them a bit of a hard time about it...

Anyway, how’s Barbara doing? 🙂

I appreciate you asking 🙂

I didn't want to bother you guys any further...

'Baraba' is holding steady. He’s not quite back to his old self yet, but he's making progress. What's slowing him down is the constant construction noise at their apartment complex—it's nothing but shouting, workers everywhere, banging, dust, scaffolding... all that chaos is taking a toll on him, though honestly, who wouldn't be bothered by that? 🙄

How did they react to the Solution? In typical fashion, they've already put together a list of "expenses" they claim to have incurred lately... they even listed things like pastries and iced tea they bought for him, fixing a watch strap, a razor mesh... it's pathetic. 😢

Josh, it was even more depressing when I went into the bank. Once they finally agreed to let me see Baraba's account status, I discovered that the account where his Social Security goes—the one my father had power of attorney over—is deep in the red.

Even with all those setbacks, they still find the energy to present you with an estimate😲
That’s just awful 👎
But look on the bright side—at least things are looking up for Barb 👍 and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you find the strength to get through it all 👋

Kenneth Hernandez67, you really are something else, truly one of a kind.
No offense intended, but looking at how much humanity and warmth you bring to the table, it’s clear what kind of parents raised you. You’re a genuinely great person.👍

I can't even describe how much this sent my blood pressure through the roof.😲 I'm honestly speechless...

Listen... they’re actually telling ME that I should just take my father's card myself 🙄

Look, if they waited this long for a legal Solution just to finally talk to me, shouldn't they be revoking his power of attorney and demanding he hand over the card instead? Why is this my responsibility?

I called them this morning to request a printout of the transaction history for that account from the last year. I need to see if money was being withdrawn while we were waiting for the Solution, or if it's been a constant drain.

I don't know... all I know is that I couldn't handle just one more "family" discussion. 🙂

Kenneth Hernandez67 said:Get this... they actually have the nerve to suggest THAT I take my dad's card myself. 🙄

Fine, but here's my thought: if they waited this long for the Solution just to talk to me, shouldn't they have revoked his power of attorney and demanded he hand over the card in the first place? Why am I the one who has to deal with this?

I called them this morning to get a printout of all the transactions from the last year. I want to see if money was being pulled while we were waiting for the Solution, or if it’s been a constant drain.

Honestly, I don't know... I just know I couldn't handle one more "family" conversation. 🙂

And what does that even accomplish? If you find out the money was spent because of the Solution, it'll just leave you feeling bitter.
It just doesn't make sense why those bank people were acting so mysterious and suspicious when you went in that first time—it was like they thought your uncle was hiding millions in that account...

Kenneth Hernandez67 said:Get this... they actually have the nerve to tell ME that I should just take my dad's debit card. 🙄

Look, I mean, if they waited this long for a Solution just to finally talk to me, shouldn't they be revoking his power of attorney and demanding he hand over the card instead? Why is that my job to fix?

I called them up this morning and demanded a printout of the transaction history for that account from the last year... I need to see if money was being pulled while they were dragging their feet waiting for a Solution, or if it’s been a steady drain the whole time.

I don't even know... all I know is I couldn't handle one more of those "family" lectures. 🙂

Ugh, man. If I were a lawyer, I’d send a formal letter to them... 😈

To my parents, I mean! As for the bank, I'm speechless. 😠
How can you even suggest something like that, like you're just carrying your father around in your pocket? If you could actually sit down and talk to him, you wouldn't be dealing with the bank in the first place! Ugh! They have absolutely zero right to meddle in family business, and I won't let them. Can you switch representatives, if not the whole branch? Probably not. 😢

I'm glad your 'old man' is doing okay. I think about him often; I had some pretty ugly stuff go down last month. Only now do I realize how much it matters to actually have family support. Unfortunately, my family had that "perfect family" syndrome where mental health issues just don't exist. There wasn't some happy ending like there was with your guy. It's sad, really. Truly sad. Which makes me pull even more for you. 👋 for you

Kenneth Hernandez67 😘 😍

Here I am again, but this time with some wonderful news !!! 🙂

It’s just a scam so far. 👍

Josh isn't quite operating at the level he was before the crisis hit, but honestly, maybe a slow and steady approach is actually for the best.

It’s a massive shift now that the need for imitation has been solved. His roommate is a total hypochondriac who constantly walks around bundled up like he’s stuck in a blizzard in Chicago; the guy was shamelessly copying him by layering two sweatpants and basically every T-shirt he owned just to keep up appearances. 🙄

Jucher was wearing cargo shorts, sneakers, and a crisp, perfectly pressed polo shirt. 😍

I hope violent femmes won't take offense, but I have to give credit where it's due: her selfless contribution to upgrading our little Man's wardrobe was top-notch.

Violent, thanks. 😘

Kenneth Hernandez67, if you’re officially the legal guardian now, can you just scrap that power of attorney?
And is there any way to actually force them to cough up the cash?

respect 🙂
I haven't even opened this thread until today and now I'm freaking out 🙂

Thanks to everyone reading this and reaching out, whether it's here or via DM 🙂

We’re doing better 👍

Things aren't quite back to how they were before that massive crisis—I'm honestly not sure if they ever will be—but the situation is very stable and holding steady. Josh is still out in the elements, and while he’d love to be back in the controlled environment of the facility, they're keeping him out in nature for the time being... which, if you ask me, is probably for the best. He's put on about five or six pounds, and he doesn't even seem as obsessed with food when I bring it to him anymore.
