Art appraisals/valuations?

Hey there,
Some prints just landed on my desk, so first things first—does anyone have a solid recommendation for a deep dive into printmaking techniques? And I’m not talking about the old-school woodcut or engraving stuff. I’m more stuck on the nuances of mezzotint, aquatint, lithography, and all that jazz.

Also, does anyone know what it means when you see "H.C." right after "EA" (yeah, I get what 😁 means)? And what’s the deal with "état" in the context of a print? I mean, I know it’s a French state or something, but it feels a bit weird seeing it used like this.

Just to be crystal clear, under the print itself, it always says something like:

EA. H.C. I état 1/2 1982.

Roughly what year was this done, how original is it, and what kind of value are we looking at?
So, the piece is acrylic on canvas by Zorica Turkalj—that's all I know, since that's just what one gallery told me—so if you guys could dig up any extra details, thanks.

We’ve got this oil painting of Jesus before Pontius Pilate. It’s about 120 years old. My folks won't even consider selling it because they think it's some priceless heirloom just because it's been in the family that long.

I have no clue who painted it, but there's this weird little symbol at the bottom...

From where I'm sitting, you've already listed the picture on eBay anyway.
So, you've basically set your own price for the piece at $3000.
Just speaking from experience here—for about $3000 (or even less), you could easily pick up one of his larger oil paintings, maybe around 40x27 inches.

The technique used in your piece is aquatint. I'm guessing the dimensions are roughly 18x25 inches or somewhere in that ballpark, give or take a few inches.

If you're looking at actual market value right now (not those inflated gallery prices), a work like this would probably go for $150-$200. Galleries might try to push it toward $400.

I'm curious about what this painting might be worth.

If you drop two zeros off that number, you might actually find a buyer.
Honestly—those kinds of reproductions are everywhere at flea markets, and half of them are probably in better shape than yours.

Basically, I have a pair of perfectly preserved shovel deer antlers that are over 100 years old. I was wondering if anyone knows who handles appraisals for items like this, or if anyone has any idea what they might be worth... I'd really appreciate the help.

Thanks for the reply, Billy, but as far as I know, hunting clubs don't really handle appraisals for stuff like this... they might be able to tell me the exact age, and since it's quite old, I assume that adds value, which falls more under antique appraisal... I guess🙂

Look, any seasoned hunter out there who's been in the woods for years will be able to tell you exactly what those antlers are worth.
They won't hand you some official certificate or anything like that, but they'll definitely know what kind of cash you can get for them.

I have six pieces by renowned artists that simply don't quite fit into my current collection, so I was hoping to get some professional insight—perhaps some valuations or even interest from collectors looking to acquire them. The works are by Hotti, Cata, Šiško, and Vorih.
To be more specific, I am seeking an appraisal: where should I take these, and who would be the right buyers? Is there anyone in this community who might be interested in purchasing them directly?
