Too early to call it, but honestly? It feels like you're using the Bob Ross method here. Just set your digital camera to auto and tuck those elbows in closer to your ribs while you shoot.😉

I recently inherited a photo of the Old Bridge in Mostar. According to the inscription, it dates back to 1938 and was taken by Ivanković 3. I suppose if anyone knows where I could take this for an appraisal to determine its actual value, I'd be interested.

Since I’m completely clueless when it comes to fine arts—honestly, I couldn't tell a Monet from a modern postcard if my life depended on it—I was wondering if anyone here could help me identify the artist behind this work? Is this someone with a significant reputation in the art world? And just out of curiosity, does anyone have a ballpark idea of what something like this might be worth? Roughly speaking, of course.

It looks like an oil painting—and I say "looks like" because it could very well be a print. It’s been painted quite skillfully. I don't recognize the artist (which probably doesn't mean much to you, though)... likely sometime in the twentieth century...
This isn't really the right way to go about getting that kind of information. You really need to see the piece in person. You have to examine the texture, how the paint was applied, the aging of the pigments, the creator, the type of canvas used, and so on—all of those details help when you're trying to estimate age or even the actual value of the work. For instance, I can tell you with absolute certainty that the decorative frame is an industrial product, which—in my opinion—pushes the whole thing toward the latter half of the 20th century. And then, there's always the possibility that the painting was re-framed later on. You know what I mean? 🙂 Maybe try heading over to a professional restoration studio... seek out an expert opinion. Or perhaps check with a museum or, if you're desperate, an antique dealer—though they usually tend to bleed you dry. So, yeah! I don't know if it's worth the cost to you.

Back in the 80s, I picked up a Montblanc Meisterstück 149 fountain pen.
It’s quite rare to find one online marked with "18 C" instead of the usual "18 K." Aside from that, I noticed two other markings on the pen: 4810 and 750.
I have no clue what the first one signifies, though I assume the second refers to the gold content.
Interestingly, even browsing the official manufacturer's website, I couldn't find any mention of an "18 C" model—only the standard "18 K."
I was wondering if anyone here understands the difference or might know what my pen is actually worth.

My advice? Take those photos—and if you have any paperwork like receipts or gift envelopes, bring those too—and head down to a gallery or a museum. You can talk to the experts there, and they'll be able to tell you what you're actually looking at. If you're living in a big city like Chicago, I'd suggest heading over to the Art Institute and chatting with the curators there.

Hey everyone, I could really use some help here... my mom has this canvas print of a Peter Bruegel the Younger painting—it’s the one depicting the Three Kings praying. It’s an edition by Edizioni Beatrice D'este Milano.

So, I was poking around up in the attic the other day—just doing some deep cleaning, you know how it goes—and I stumbled upon this old timepiece that actually belonged to one of my ancestors. It’s got "Berthoud" inscribed on the back, which I'm pretty sure is the maker's mark. I’ve got this old Philips TV from back in 1956 sitting right in its original console cabinet.
It actually still works, too—which is pretty wild if you think about it.
I’m thinking about redoing the layout of my place soon, so I might end up parting ways with it.
That brings me to the big question—does this thing actually have any value, or is it just a heavy piece of nostalgia?

I’ve spent some time digging through Google, trying to track down the specifics, but I can't seem to find anything definitive regarding this particular vintage...
