just one more 😎
it hit me like a freight train last Friday afternoon, and honestly, I can't even remember the last time I felt this absolutely trashed...
Let me expand on what I'm going through—do you guys ever get this sensation in your head where everything just feels like it "freezes"? I don't even know how to put it into words... it’s not like vertigo or dizziness, it’s just this momentary feeling that my brain, my whole consciousness, just hits a sudden freeze-frame😕 and then everything just snaps back to how it was. At first, I figured it was just the fever playing tricks on me, but now I'm starting to freak out because I've noticed that along with this "freezing" thing, my arms and legs start going numb too...
what on earth is happening to me???
Is this just some nasty bout of the flu??? Or is it something else entirely??? 😕
Please, someone tell me this is totally normal

It’s been 8 days now... I can finally walk around today, though I've had to cook for myself. Honestly, during those first 5 days, I felt like I was actually dying—my temperature hit 102.4, and even Tylenol wouldn't touch it. I ended up having to take lukewarm showers just to stay somewhat sane.

Back when I had the flu a long, long time ago—like almost 20 years back—I went through phases like that. But look, I was basically out of it from lying in bed all day, so I wouldn't know about other organs (you know, those tingling sensations and stuff), and I was way younger back then anyway.

I’m guessing it’s just from lying around while dealing with the fever.

If that numbness keeps up even after you kick the flu, definitely go see a doctor!

I honestly don't get why people are still trying to treat the flu with antibiotics—since, you know, the flu is a virus, not a bacterium. It’s common knowledge that antibiotics are mostly for bacteria...

So, if there are any medical students out there, please, walk me through the logic!

Flu definitely isn't treated with antibiotics—it’s a viral thing, and antibiotics only touch bacteria !! There is a massive difference between a virus and bacteria! 🙂
That said, doctors often prescribe them just as a safety net against secondary bacterial infections... you know, things like pneumonia or sinus infections.
Your body has to fight off the flu virus on its own. It moves faster for some people and slower for others, but the key is resting, staying hydrated, getting vitamins, and managing the fever (with compresses or antipyretics).

Thanks, I totally get that you can't treat viruses with antibiotics, which is exactly why it seems so weird to me that everyone gets handed a prescription whenever they have the flu or a cold, even though those are clearly viral!

On the other hand, I’ve always felt like if you just sit there idling while you're fighting off the flu, it actually does more harm than good—like your immune system just loses all its momentum and gets even weaker...

Honestly, I’ve never had the flu last this long in my life—it's exhausting. It hit me on Monday, and that first night I was spiking a 105.8; my husband spent the whole time trying to cool my head down, but it's finally settled to 103.7 yesterday, 102.2 last night, and today we're looking at about 97.5.
My head feels like it's splitting open, and my bones, joints, and spine are just aching constantly—but there is zero rest to be had. Right now, I'm busy applying compresses to my husband, who is sitting there at 102.2.

Man, I’m already heading into my second afternoon with a fever hitting 104, and honestly, I feel like I just got blindsided by a rogue wave while out on a sixty-knot swell—it’s easily the absolute worst I’ve ever felt, though I suppose I can’t really blame my age for it, because being sick at 17 versus dealing with this when you're 37 is a whole different beast entirely. I’ve been trying to chug some DayQuil, but let’s be real, that stuff is total garbage and isn't doing a single thing for me, so I guess I just have to tough it out and power through since finding a decent doctor around here feels like searching for a needle in a haystack, but anyway, stay safe everyone...🙂

Ha ha ha😁 😁 😁

My son just called me "mom" 😕 😍 — even with a thirty-nine fibroid diagnosis hanging over us — and I can't help but laugh. He actually reminded me that back when I was forty 😍, I used to call him "dad" 😕.
What’s your take—unresolved Oedipus complex?

Oh, and Tihana, that was solid advice... 👍

I’ve been stuck in bed from Monday until now. I couldn't even roll over, let alone get up. My only movement was making it to the bathroom. Honestly, I can't even remember the last time I felt this trashed. It's been ages since my muscles hurt so bad that even taking a tiny step felt like a marathon.
Finally dragged myself up today. I'm still hurting, but staying horizontal isn't an option anymore. Then again, once I actually stand up, I feel like I want to fly off the walls because sitting still is driving me crazy.

Currently crushing some Augmentin, Sudafed, and Tylenol. I should be heading in for a follow-up tomorrow. I'm lowkey freaking out about 😢

A friend of mine who's a doctor told her she thinks it's viral pneumonia. Every time I cough, I just start stressing out about it.

neonrider13 said:Maybe grab some Tylenol or Advil later on if you need to bring that fever down. Honestly, just stay in, get cozy under the blankets, and try to eat plenty of fruit and keep sipping on water—stay hydrated, right? Oh, and don't forget the secret weapon: honey and garlic every single day!

How many days should pass before I need antibiotics? My fever isn't even that crazy—about 99 degrees during the day and hitting 100 at night. I've been taking Tylenol mostly in the evenings and late at night. Today is day five. Should I head to the doctor for an antibiotic prescription?

Man, why even bother with antibiotics if you're clearly getting over it?🙂
Yeah, but you'll probably be feeling wiped out for a little while longer after.

It went by relatively fast for me (assuming it was actually the flu), mostly thanks to chugging massive amounts of rosehip tea with honey and lemon 🙏 🙏 along with some homemade soup.
I was also taking DayQuil twice a day and using some nasal drops.

I have no intention of getting better; this started on Monday and it’s been a disaster. I have zero energy left. My temperature actually dipped below 98.6 yesterday, but just when I thought I might finally be able to get off the couch, it spiked right back over 100. It’s exhausting. 🙂
I once had a severe allergic reaction to Tylenol and ended up in the ER! I honestly have no clue why, since it certainly wasn't my first time taking it. It was just one of those moments where a simple 🙂cold / flu
suddenly turns into a crisis.

I mean, who knows if it's actually passing😕 . Either way, I didn't hit up the doctor today, so I'll just see how things play out until Monday. If I'm still sitting here with a 100.4 fever, I'm pretty sure I'll need those antibiotics. Usually, they wait about three days before prescribing them, right?
