You know, it’s one of those things that really makes you stop and thinkβ€”you could easily be an asymptomatic carrier, just passing the virus along without even realizing it. I mean, why didn't they have to worry about catching it themselves in the first place? It's almost as if they possess a much stronger immune system than the rest of us. Isn't it fascinating how some people seem naturally shielded while others are left vulnerable?
It seems someone is feeling rather down todayβ€”poor Kuzis. One can’t help but wonder what might be weighing on them? Sometimes life just feels a bit heavier than usual, doesn't it? I truly hope things turn around soon.

kuzis is feeling down...

Okay, fine. It probably went down like that...

Is it even possible to catch the flu after getting the shot?

Yeah,

The shot doesn't cover every single virus out there, nor can it predict which specific strain is going to hit you next.

I'm with him on this... Kenneth Hernandez67 is absolutely right.
The flu shot is formulated based on the strains predicted to cause an epidemic... and because of that, it varies by region. For instance, the vaccine used here in the US isn't necessarily the same one used in Spain.
Beyond that, the virus mutates every time it passes through a new host organism. Eventually, its antigenic makeup doesn't perfectly align with the vaccine, even if we're talking about the same strain. In those cases, you might still catch the flu, though the symptoms tend to be milder since the antibodies you developed still provide some level of defense against the virus.

Look, the flu virus is just temporarily hijacking your system, but honestly, vaccines can do more harm than good because of all those toxins inside them.πŸ˜‰ Just stay positive and you'll bounce back sooner than you think!πŸ™‚

If you take antibioticsβ€”it’ll clear up in a week.

If you don't take themβ€”it takes seven days.😁

There are medications available, but I wouldn't recommend them for general use.

Honestly, just stay hydrated and wait for it to pass.

Anyone actually get their shot?

Not meβ€”but I’m definitely getting it next year (same thing I said last year). 😬

Stay hydratedβ€”lots of fluids, Vitamin C, Tylenol 300mg or Aspirin 500mg every six hours. Once you've taken something to break the fever, crawl into bed, bundle up, and sleep (since staying in bed with a fever shouldn't be a challenge) so you can sweat it out properly.
Personally, I just grab some over-the-counter stuff at the pharmacy (I practically stockpile DayQuil whenever I visit the States because you can't find it here).
Don't go rushing off to see your family doctor immediately; they can't offer much besides the exact same advice. Just call them, explain the situation, and have them sign off on your sick leave. It’s not exactly in their interest to catch whatever you have and pass it to everyone else in the waiting room.

Of course, I'm assuming you smoke, everything aches, and you're probably sniffing and dealing with a sore throat too. πŸ˜‰

I haven't yet, but I definitely plan to next year (that’s what I said last year, too). 😬

Get vaccinated, without question. It's free for all medical staff at the Health Institute, including students.
I started getting regular shots after the Venetian outbreak, and I've had peace of mind ever since.

I started getting them regularly after that Venetian thing, and I've been fine since.

I know it's freeβ€”I live here!β€”but I'm just lazy. Plus, I'm not sure if it even makes sense; it takes three weeks for your body to build up antibodies. So, if I get the shot today, I won't actually be protected until next month. 😬

Besides, the vaccine is basically a cocktail of dead viruses from the last three years. You're building immunity to a version of the virus that's already mutated.

And while I can't stand DayQuilβ€”mostly because it's just massive doses of caffeine, Tylenol, and Vitamin Cβ€”you can find it everywhere here, and there's never a shortage. I hate it because the caffeine kick keeps me wide awake. Honestly, buying Tylenol and Vitamin C separately is cheaper anyway.

Even if you get vaccinated before the flu season kicks offβ€”which in America usually lands between September and Novemberβ€”it should still be possible to get the shot during the season itself, say from late December through March. I’m not entirely sure how the local Health Institute handles their scheduling, so why not give them a call to verify?
We vaccinate high-risk kids and their families during that second window if they were too sick during the initial "vaccination season" to receive it. Of course, I don't live in America, though I assume the logic remains the same elsewhere.

As for the vaccine itself, it isn't some static formula; it changes precisely because new, mutated strains emerge every year. Every year, the WHO determines which strains are the most active, and those are the ones integrated into the formula for the upcoming season.πŸ˜‰

Oh, and by the way, it takes about a week or two after the shot to actually build up protection.

Regarding DayQuil, it really is a matter of individual tolerance. A fever absolutely wipes me out, so high doses of caffeine actually act as a stimulant for me. But I agree, everyone has to figure out what works best for their own body.

So, how long does that immunity actually last once someone gets the shot? Just wondering.
So, what's the actual deal with all this vaccination nonsense from that second wave? Seriously, does anyone actually get why they were pushing it so hard then?
