Everything hurts, honestly. I can't even tell if it's just from the heavy lifting and pushing myself way too hard, or if it’s because I was out there fighting the wind yesterday trying to dry my hair. 😁

Proudly announcing I hit a solid 37 with 3 👋
Yeah, every single drop from the shower felt like a needle hitting my skin, but damn, it was worth it.

Seriously, everyone needs to get their flu shot on schedule every single year!

So, my fever hasn't even hit 38 today—and I haven't touched any Tylenol or anything—and now it's evening and I'm sitting at a lovely 37.2👋 Does that mean it isn't the flu after all? Shouldn't I be running a higher fever for longer? (I can't quite remember how it works 😁)

The only thing is, I've started coughing a bit.😢

Man, I’ve been hit by the worst flu ever. Every single inch of my body aches; I can barely even get out of bed. My lymph nodes in my neck are swollen and super sore, swallowing anything is pure torture, my fever is sitting around 101.3, I'm dizzy, and I keep waking up in the middle of the night from shivering and back pain....🤷..so, what actually counts as a "severe" case of the flu?
I usually pick up a flu bug every winter, but it's never felt this intense... especially the throat pain, which feels like someone is literally ripping my tonsils out..🤷...that doesn't feel quite typical for the flu to me...
How many of you have managed to catch the flu?
Do you guys go to the doctor for it?.. I usually don't, but now I'm seriously considering it because of how bad my throat is...
What are you all doing to treat yourselves?

First things first, go see a doctor if you can!😳
They’ll give you the best advice, then you can actually feel certain about it.

Anyway:

Stay hydrated. Some chamomile tea might actually do you some good. When you've got the flu, you're sweating like crazy. Maybe try adding a little sugar to it just to get some glucose in your system?
If you can swing it, some homemade soup would definitely hit the spot.
Flu meds always come in handy. Just have someone grab you something from the pharmacy.
Tylenol and Tylenol both knock down fever and pain. What else do you want?Don't go playing doctor yourself. Go talk to a pharmacist or a physician, for crying out loud..
Just so you know, a temperature of 100.4°F isn't something you just wait out. You really think it's going to drop on its own? That’s when you start using those meds mentioned above. Once you hit 102 or 104 degrees Fahrenheit and the pills aren't cutting it, stop reaching for ice. Use lukewarm water mixed with a little rubbing alcohol—or just straight alcohol—for compresses. It evaporates fast, which is exactly how you pull the heat out of the body. Simple, right?
Just go see the doctor so you can stop worrying. Why stress yourself out?

Don't go being all alone while you're sick. Seriously, don't even think about it.
Keep an eye on your temperature. Seriously.
Looks like flu season is finally hitting us. You guys ready?

Get well soon! 👍

I really hope you made it to the doctor, because if your throat is hurting that much, it could actually be strep or some kind of bacterial infection. If that's the case, you’re probably gonna need an antibiotic. But hey, if it’s just the flu, then I’m sending good vibes your way—hope you feel better and get over this quick! 🙂

The flu this year is genuinely brutal—I was just typing about it myself. About twenty days ago, I got hit with a fever; for three days it sat at 103°F, and even then, I could barely get it down to 101°F. Now, twenty days later, I'm dealing with side effects, mainly being unable to eat anything. Just be prepared for some weight loss. I know that isn't much comfort, but at least you know what's coming. For me, the throat wasn't the issue—you really need to see a doctor!!! Hope you feel better fast.😉

I just barely clawed my way out from under the flu last week. Honestly, the fever just refused to budge, and I was basically glued to my bed—which didn't help since I was all by myself. Once that temperature hit 103.1 in the morning, my dad finally hopped in the car, came to grab me, and drove me home. I slept for a few days straight, and eventually, things started looking up. But, because life is never simple, the flu decided to invite a sinus infection, a sore throat, and an earache to the party, so now I’m stuck on antibiotics. And yeah, I’m dealing with that exact same issue Carl Alvarez572 mentioned: I absolutely cannot eat anything.

I completely blanked on mentioning the sinus issues and the clogged ears earlier; this flu really does leave you feeling like you've been run over by a truck. For the sinus pressure, I found that inhaling steam from some Chamomile works wonders. It honestly made a massive difference for me.

Actually, it isn't. The influenza virus mutates constantly. You get vaccinated against whatever strain was circulating last season, but rarely does that match the actual beast currently tearing through the population. It’s a guessing game.

Besides, once you've already caught it, the shot is useless. It's strictly preventative. Its whole purpose is to prime the body to create antibodies for that specific virus. Once the infection is already in your system, there's no point in vaccinating; at that stage, your body is just doing the work of creating antibodies on its own anyway.

The truth about how you deal with the flu? There isn't one..
Basically, you just have to ride it out for about seven days—which means plenty of rest, eating actual healthy food instead of junk, staying hydrated, keeping your fever down, and sticking to symptomatic relief (like DayQuil..)
It also doesn't hurt to take some immune boosters based on Echinacea, like Immunal..

What are you all doing to treat yourselves?

Maybe it's mono, considering the swollen glands and the difficulty swallowing.

Please, let's not talk nonsense here...
1) They vaccinate you against the strains predicted to be dominant during the upcoming season, not against whatever was around last year. The whole idea is to prepare you for the specific viruses people will actually be catching this season...
2) Vaccination is typically done two to three months before flu season peaks, which is when you should get it. Of course, it makes no sense to get vaccinated after you're already sick—I didn't say that either...

We had her at home with a fever hitting about 102, and nothing—not even Tylenol or Aspirin—would touch it. My brother was actually vomiting from the heat of it all. Honestly, the only things providing any relief were cold baths and those Tylenol cooling patches.😢

There’s actually a thread over on the natural cosmetics forum about herbal teas and remedies that might offer some support. But really, the best thing is just to lie down and rest, and that’s that.😢
