Adam Rodriguez6 said:For an entire week, I found myself locked in a silent battle with one particular office employee who, quite stubbornly, decided to wander through the workplace from Monday all the way through Saturday, spreading his germs everywhere instead of simply staying home in bed. He would stroll in around 11:00 AM, linger for two or three hours just idling away the time with mindless nonsense on his computer, all while effectively turning the office into a breeding ground for infection. It was only after this ordeal that I truly began to appreciate the diligence and consideration shown by hardworking Japanese professionals, who, when feeling even a slight chill or a viral bug, will walk around wearing masks specifically out of fear of infecting their colleagues.
As someone who makes it a point to get vaccinated every single year because I have absolutely no intention of wasting five or six days of my life stuck in bed, I still ended up catching a mild version of a virus—though it was certainly enough to derail all my plans for the weekend.

What kind of experiences have you all had with people like this?

If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't have any shame about staying home for two or three weeks, but unfortunately, I don't have that luxury. 😢

So, the flu finally caught up with me, even though I got vaccinated. My doctor mentioned it should be a milder version than if I hadn't taken the shot. Right now, my temperature is hovering around 99-100°F; no headaches, but my throat is sore and I feel incredibly weak 😢. Aside from maybe a quick one-day cold here and there, I haven't been sick in fifteen years.
To those of you who also got the shot, stay vigilant... some tea, plenty of Vitamin C, and keep your distance from anyone contagious 😉

So, here I am—battling this flu for about two weeks now. It hasn’t been a steady decline, either; it’s more like a roller coaster! It started with those nasty chills, then a temperature hovering around 99.5°F, followed by a runny nose, and then this cough... honestly, it sounds like an elephant struggling to breathe, except you can't actually cough anything up. I was taking some Daleron and a certain syrup for a week, which helped immensely, but as soon as I finished the box yesterday—poof!—the sniffing and the fever came crawling right back, along with a bit of that stubborn cough. And don't even get me started on the muscle aches and how sensitive my skin feels; it's just miserable. I ended up picking up some Royal Gel to try and give my immune system a little boost, since I’m honestly at a loss for what else to do. How many days have you guys had to endure the flu at its absolute worst? Does it really have to go through one cycle of relief just to come back and haunt you again?

Got a 6-year-old little one here,
the labs say:
CRP 10.5
WBC 5.2
Neutrophils 87
Lymphocytes 12
Monocytes 1

They've got a cough, a fever hitting 102.5 in the morning then dropping before climbing right back up again—plus a runny nose and a sore throat... I'd love some thoughts from you guys, thanks!

Hey there! How's it going? Just dropping in to say hi!
So, here’s the deal—the doctor actually wrote down the diagnosis right there in the headline!

Ugh, seriously? Not again! 😩 I am currently dealing with those absolutely brutal recurrent aphthous ulcers—you know, those tiny little mouth sores that feel like someone is stabbing your gums with a hot needle every time you try to eat? Yeah, those. They are honestly the worst. It feels like my mouth is constantly under siege! Has anyone else gone through this lately? Any tips or life hacks to make them go away faster? I’m desperate over here! 😭🩹

Maybe she just typed it wrong, because honestly, I could only find... Hey everyone! So, I was doing a little deep dive into some medical stuff recently—don't judge me, I just get curious about how our bodies work!—and I stumbled upon something called *oris recurrentis*. Now, don't let the fancy Latin name scare you off; it sounds way more intimidating than it actually is. Basically, we’re talking about those annoying, recurring mouth sores or ulcers that just love to pop up right when you're having a good week. You know the drill: one day you're feeling great, and the next, it feels like you've got a tiny little volcano erupting on your gums or the inside of your cheek. It's super frustrating, right? It’s one of those things where you start wondering, "Wait, why me? What did I do wrong?" But honestly, it can happen to anyone. Sometimes it's just stress (guilty!), sometimes it's a minor injury from eating something crunchy, and other times it just seems to happen for no reason at all. If you're dealing with this, hang in there! It’s definitely a nuisance, but it usually clears up once your body gets back into its groove. Just a friendly reminder to stay hydrated and maybe take it a little easy on the spicy snacks if you feel one coming on! Stay healthy out there, friends!

I’ve been scouring the internet, digging through every corner of Google, and honestly? I'm coming up totally empty-handed. I can't find a single thing about this! It's like it just doesn't exist online. Total ghost town over here!
Honestly, it’s probably just because his mouth is a literal magnet for bacteria—those breakouts have gotta be linked to that!

So, here’s how it goes down...
So, I was feeling this sudden chill hit me out of nowhere on Wednesday afternoon—just total body shivers—so I decided to play it safe and check my temperature about an hour later.
It clocked in at 38.2!
I popped some Lupocet earlier just to try and kill this fever and finally get some sleep. But man, I got woken up by this brutal chill—even though I was bundled up in layers!
Man, I totally spaced out and drifted off to dreamland again! Oops!
Ugh, guys, I checked again this morning and yep—the fever is still hanging around. It hit 39.1! Seriously, I feel like I’m running a marathon while sitting perfectly still on my couch. Such a bummer!
So, I popped two Lupocet and about an hour later, I ended up sitting in a puddle of lukewarm water. Yeah, I actually did that. Just... total system failure. Honestly, what a disaster! 😂
Checked my temperature again around noon, and hey, good news! It finally dipped down to 100.0. Feeling a little bit more human today!
Man, it started acting up again after just a few hours, and I ended up making a total mess of myself in some lukewarm water. Seriously, what a disaster!
It looks like it dipped, but I’ve got a feeling it’s gonna climb right back up to 39.1 in the end! Fingers crossed!
Man, before I even made it out the door to head to the ER, I was totally losing it and throwing up. Seriously, what a mess!
So, here’s the deal—it feels like my mouth is throwing a full-blown tantrum! On the right edge of my lip, I’ve got this nasty little sore, and then there's this weird, inflamed gum area around one of my teeth. To make things even more chaotic, I’ve started getting these tiny little bumps on the inside of my lip, too. And as if that wasn't enough of a mess, my throat is feeling a bit scratchy and sore. Oh, and yep, I’ve even got those annoying little bumps popping up on the tip of my tongue. Just a total disaster zone over here!
So, I headed down to the ER because I was feeling absolutely trashed, and they told me it was definitely the flu. To help deal with the misery, they ended up giving me two doses of Voltaren via injection. Man, what a ride!
So, I just got back from the clinic, and honestly? Best news ever! My doctor gave me the thumbs up and said my throat is totally clear. No redness, no swelling, nothing! It’s such a massive relief because I was seriously starting to freak out a little bit. Now I can finally stop worrying and get back to feeling like myself again!

Man, I was feeling absolutely frozen earlier—just straight-up shivering and feeling like I couldn't get warm no matter what. Then, after about three hours, my temperature finally dipped below 96.8! It’s been a wild ride trying to shake this chill.
I just whipped up myself some rosehip tea (actually, I ended up just making chamomile instead, haha!).

Ugh, man, my fever decided to make another comeback today! It hit 38.8 in the morning, which honestly felt pretty rough. So, I ended up heading over to see my local doctor to get everything checked out.

She told me straight up that they shouldn't have given me Voltaren via injection. I mean, seriously? When you're sitting there with a fever bouncing between 100 and 102, an injection like that isn't going to do squat for you—it just leaves you feeling totally wiped out and dehydrated. It's like, what was the point? All it does is kick you while you're already down! 😕
And she also mentioned that those guys end up stuck in the infectious disease hospital!

Ugh, I’ve been chugging water like there’s no tomorrow, but honestly? I just don't have the energy to play right now. Total bummer!
She didn't actually say what it was; she just wrote it down like that!

So, she was telling me that I’ve got these little bumps popping up in my throat, right? But then the guy over at the ER looked at me and was like, "Nope, your throat looks totally clear." Honestly, I'm just sitting here wondering what's actually going on!

She told me that if I want these "pimple" things to finally disappear, I need to ditch everything cold or lukewarm—so I'm talking ice cream, lukewarm tea, lukewarm soup, the whole deal!
I really need to go grab some mouthwash—something like TCE or maybe Varclo. I honestly can't even make out what the doctor wrote because their handwriting is just absolute garbage! I’ll have to swing by the Walgreens later and see if I can figure it out there.

She mentioned that she takes some Tylenol or Lupocet if her fever climbs above 38.

Ugh, I just checked my temperature again and—surprise, surprise—it’s climbed right back up to 39.2. Total bummer! So, I just popped a Lupocet to see if I can get this fever under control. Fingers crossed!

Ugh, guys, I am feeling absolutely trashed right now! 😩 My throat is acting up just a little bit, and I’ve got this low-grade fever that won't quit. To make matters worse, I am sweating like crazy, but then the chills hit and I’m literally shaking because it’s freezing out. Oh, and to top off this whole miserable experience, I’ve even got those annoying little mouth sores popping up. Seriously, what is my body doing?! Send help (and maybe some soup)! 🤒❄️💦

The flu really kicked my butt, but I’m hanging in there. I basically raided the entire pharmacy aisle. Now I'm prepping my DayQuil battle kit: pills, balm, and cold compresses.

This Monday started with a fever of 103.1, chills, a sore throat, and constant congestion with thick mucus. I've also dealt with headaches, general weakness, and a loss of appetite. I'm just taking Advil 400mg to bring the fever down, but it keeps spiking back up to 100.8, requiring more Advil. I can barely get out of bed because I feel so unsteady and weak. It’s Friday now, and I don't feel any better.
Yesterday I went to the local clinic and they confirmed it's the flu; they told me to keep resting and managing the fever.
But shouldn't I be improving by now? Subjectively, I don't feel even slightly better.
For the record, I did get my flu shot last year. 🙂😍

If you need to bring down a fever, Lupocet effervescent tablets (1000 mg) work well. For muscle and bone aches, go with 600 mg of Advil.
It doesn't matter if you got your flu shot last year... there’s basically a new strain or type of virus popping up every single year. This year's flu is nasty; I was shivering with a fever for about four days straight. Some people breeze through it in a week, while others take much longer, so don't stress too much about the timeline. Just stick to tea, rest, and call it a day. 🙂

So I finally gave DayQuil a shot... and honestly? It was a total game changer because my nose actually started working again! 🙂 I was seriously stunned because I’m usually the type who gets completely backed up—you know, where you're stuck just trying to break a fever while your nose won't stop running constantly... but this stuff handled EVERYTHING.

Starting a new thread.
Is anyone else dealing with flu symptoms? I’m basically hovering somewhere between life and death in bed with a 103°F fever, a headache that feels like a physical assault, the shakes, having already demolished a whole box of Tylenol, insomnia, night sweats, and those deep muscle and bone aches that hit the second the temperature starts climbing.

Is there any flu going around the Tampa area? I really hope I'm not the first victim here: I've got a fever between 100 and 102, body aches, a headache, sore throat, swollen and painful lymph nodes, general weakness, and dizziness... Or maybe I'm dying from something else?

It looks like there might be some flu going around your area. They mentioned on the news that flu season has officially kicked off. I actually went ahead and got my shot because of that. I have a tooth extraction coming up soon, too, so I figured it’s probably best if I don't have to worry about catching the flu on top of everything else. I'd say getting vaccinated is worth it—it really makes sense.

Can I take Tylenol and DayQuil together???

Tylenol is just paracetamol, and DayQuil is a combination formula where paracetamol also serves as the primary active ingredient. There’s no reason to mix them; you simply need to ensure that the total amount of paracetamol you ingest—regardless of which product it comes from—doesn't exceed the maximum daily limit, which is 4,000 mg for adults.

A single dose should stay under 1,000 mg.

Check the drug facts on the packaging to see the specific dosage of each component, then do the math. For instance, Tylenol typically comes in 500 mg tablets.

It is perfectly fine to alternate between Advil (like Neofen, Rapidol, or Motrin) and paracetamol. However, you should consult with your doctor or pharmacist regarding the exact timing and dosage.

Hey. 😢 I can't tell if I'm just completely wiped out—since I've only clocked about four hours of sleep in the last 30 or so—or if I'm actually coming down with something. I’ve started coughing, my sinuses are running a bit, and my muscles have this weird twitchy feeling. I picked up some Vitamin C at the drugstore, though personally, I think the whole "boost your immunity" thing with Vitamin C is mostly nonsense. My head is aching too. I took some DayQuil at work, but now I'm feeling a little disoriented. My room is warm, yet I keep getting hit with these random chills that are stressing me out. Anyone got any advice or a game plan? 😢Dammit.

Man, I’m starting to feel it too. I can feel it coming on. It's probably a bit late for me to bother with a vaccine at this stage, so what should I grab to knock this out quickly? Maybe DayQuil? Or Coldrex?
I really can't afford to be sick right now; I have to wrap up the annual audit for 2016.

Nothing is going to take you out faster !
The only thing you achieve by playing games with the flu is infecting a whole crowd of people and dragging out your own recovery with complications...
For the flu, doctors only prescribe actual antivirals like Tamiflu, which are rarely given out (due to side effects, and you actually need clinical indications rather than just wanting a sick day)
. DayQuil isn't a cure for the flu!!! It doesn't cure the flu!!!
It simply clears your nose and brings down a fever... It’s just a modern twist on an old-school combination of an antipyretic and nasal drops. There's nothing revolutionary about it.
You'll still have the flu even with those pills... you'll just have a lower temperature while remaining just as infectious to everyone you encounter... even in an elevator...
Besides, you shouldn't even bother bringing a fever down until it hits 38°C, and if it stays above that for four days, then you go see a doctor.
Honestly, it might sound harsh... but aside from yourself (and the people who love you), who else is really looking out for you? Just please don't spray viruses around and spread the illness... At least wear a mask... It's a small gesture, but it counts...

And if you think those pills are doing anything for the flu... well, I remember barely being able to make it to the bathroom even with nasal drops, Advil, and cough syrup... And I definitely had the real deal. Then, as a complication, I ended up with pneumonia...
I would never take chances with something like that.

It’s really just a matter of ignorance, I suppose. Honestly, I’d much rather just stay home and lie low for a few days, but when you're working for an idiot who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed every single morning, that isn't really an option. I could always just buy a mask and try to be considerate toward everyone else who's still healthy, maybe just nurse myself with some tea, ginger, and hot lemonades.

I hear you... It’s like dealing with a pulmonary issue caused by someone acting like a total tyrant.
You can find various studies online regarding the flu and Vitamin D, and there's even a Linus Pauling book that discusses the flu and how to use Vitamin C during an infection. (For those following along, I know there have been plenty of debates and critiques surrounding these research findings... but still, how much harm could Vitamin C actually do?...)
Let me know how everything turns out!
