Someone in here posted a link a while back to a site that calculates fertile and non-fertile days. Well, I had my computer wiped a few days ago, and now I’ve lost the link entirely.
If anyone happens to have that URL handy, could you please drop it again?
I would be seriously grateful!

I’ve been seeing a private gynecologist for ten years now, and I couldn't be happier with him. However, since I'm planning to get pregnant, I really need to establish care with a primary provider—someone for prescriptions, referrals, and hopefully more frequent prenatal checkups down the road.

My GP is based out of the downtown health center in the heart of the city, so I headed over there. Part of the reason was a glowing recommendation for Dr. Franulović.

Unfortunately, the nurse informed me his patient list is already full for the year. Instead, I was assigned to Dr. Matezović.

Since she’s currently out on maternity leave, I haven't had the chance to meet her. Has anyone here had experience with her? What was it like?

One other thing: does anyone know what the typical co-pays are for routine exams like Pap smears or ultrasounds?

To make matters worse, I decided to stop paying for supplemental insurance after two years—right when I'm starting to plan for a pregnancy. I call that being smart, don't you?🙄

I had both of my pregnancies managed by a private specialist—my primary care doctor just handled all the paperwork and prescriptions.😕

So, pregnant women get everything for free...

until October rolls around, and then everyone starts getting ready for the chaos.

It looks like they issue them here too; doesn't seem to be an issue.

But I’m currently battling a bacterial infection, and getting swabs done privately is expensive $233 (that was my bill just last week). Since I’ll need to repeat them in two months once treatment is finished—and I really don't want to shell out the cash again $233—can I just handle this through my primary care provider?

Sometimes I wonder why I pay into health insurance for my entire career if I'm still paying out of pocket for dentists and OB-GYNs. I'd like to actually use what I'm paying for, if you catch my drift.

Thanks for the tip, too. I didn't realize pregnant women were exempt from all copays. That's great. I don't fall into that category yet, and I won't until I finally get rid of this damn ureaplasma.😢

So, my OB-GYN sent me off for some tests. I guess she’s got a temp covering her while she’s out on maternity leave, so now we're just stuck waiting on those referrals to come through... maybe?
Co-pays for specialized healthcare at places like the VA or private clinics usually hover around 15% of the total bill based on what Medicare or insurance sets, which I guess isn't exactly a ton of money.

Co-pays under the specialist care plan are usually about 15% of the total bill based on the insurance provider's points... so it shouldn't be too much.

I went. It was a substitute. I didn't actually need referrals, just prescriptions for antibiotics after handing over results from my private OBGYN. For both myself and my partner. She was helpful. 😁
I have to redo my swabs in two months, and I plan to do them with her again. I don't expect any issues there.

How long is the wait for swab results or a Pap smear when you go through standard public insurance? At the private clinic, I had them in three or four days.

If anyone could tell me if they've dealt with Dr. Matezović, I'd be extremely grateful. 🙏

Hey guys, quick question—so I’m pregnant, right, and I have an appointment with my private OB-GYN, and he wants to send me off for some swabs... does he actually charge you for those tests, or is it like what someone else mentioned earlier where pregnant women don't have to pay for their labs? Please, I really need some help here, I'm looking for an answer ASAP...

THANKS!

Wait—how did you end up seeing him? If I recall correctly, he mostly specializes in geriatric oncology, right?

By the way—I’d love to hear what other ladies on this forum think about him if you've had any experience—because I've heard such wildly conflicting things about him... everything from being an absolute top-tier expert to, well, not really being all that, to put it mildly...

I was wondering how long you usually wait for swab results or something like a Pap smear when you go through socialized medicine? I went to a private clinic and got everything back in maybe three or four days.

Maybe about a week, I guess.

Look, I need some straight answers here. I’m already ... years old, but I’ve never actually stepped foot in a gynecologist's office. What is that first visit actually like? Like, what do they do to you? (Just so you know, I've been sexually active with my boyfriend)... what does the exam look like?

First, they’ll just chat with you for a bit. They might ask some awkward stuff, I guess—like how old you were when you first had sex or if you’re using protection and things like that.
After that, it’s a Pap smear and an ovarian exam.
That’s basically the core of it, though they might run an ultrasound too. If you're looking to get on birth control, they'll probably send you for blood work as well.

The nurse will check your blood pressure, height, and weight, and then that's pretty much it. Nothing to worry about, really. 🙂

Not looking for details😁 But yeah, he asked how old I was. Caught me off guard for a second there. I guess... not sure what he plans to do with that info.

Good grief 😕 ... man, what caused it?? Was it rough sex?

I don't know... what can you even do? For me, sometimes when I was hair removing, I’d accidentally nick that thin little layer of skin around the outer lips, you know? It would crack slightly, almost like a tiny paper cut. It stung a bit whenever I washed, but it usually healed up in maybe 2 or 3 days and was good as new.

I’ve dealt with this before when I wasn't getting enough wetness, and usually, it just blows over in a day or two. But right now? It is absolutely unbearable.
I am actually going to lose my mind.

Look, if you don't have any aspirin on hand, just head down to the local CVS and ask. I highly doubt anyone in this group is going to be much help with medical advice. 🙂

What a pretentious gynecologist, acting like he’s the only doctor in town.

It's most likely just a yeast infection, but go ahead, see the specialist—since that’s clearly what he expects.
