So I asked if my boyfriend needs to take anything too, and she’s telling me not to worry about it for now...
Like, seriously? Am I supposed to catch this thing all over again just so he can start treatment???

Yeah, you've got vaginal inflammation caused by Candida (candida vaginitis/colpitis). Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about sex while I was dealing with that itching. I didn't even go near it until everything cleared up.

Colpitis is basically just vaginal inflammation, and honestly, it doesn't always have to be linked to yeast infections.

It’s not even about sex for me right now, but once I finish this treatment...
Just thinking through the logic here; if I clear up this inflammation but he's still carrying it, isn't it just a matter of time before I'm back at square one? Or am I totally missing something?

Honestly, I don't even know what to tell you. It messed with my head too. But I've read in several places that there's no need to treat the partner, and you probably won't catch it from him again... though who knows. If it pops up again after all this, then definitely look into something for him—that's what I'd do. If it stays away, then awesome.👍

Honestly, I don't even know what to tell you, because I was spiraling over the exact same thing. But I've read in a few different places that the partner doesn't necessarily need treatment, and you probably won't catch it from him again... though who knows, right? If it keeps coming back even after you've done your part, then yeah, demand he gets checked out too. That’s what I’d do. If it stays away, then great. 👍

Medications: Fungal infections are treated with antifungals—basically meds designed to kill fungus. For female genital yeast infections, doctors usually go with imidazole derivatives like clotrimazole (Canesten, Plimycol) or polyene antibiotics such as nystatin (Nystatin, Moronal), amphotericin (Ampho-Moronal), and natamycin (Pimafucin) used as vaginal tablets, creams, or ointments. Treatment can be quick, maybe 1 to 7 days. For those recurring infections that just won't quit, oral antifungals like fluconazole (Diflucan) or itraconazole (Orungal) in pill or capsule form are usually necessary. While you're dealing with symptoms and finishing treatment, it’s recommended to hold off on sex, even though the infection is actually only transmitted in about 10-15% of cases.

Has anyone here dealt with fibroadenomas? Any advice on how to handle them without surgery? 😢 I really don't want to go under the knife, but the idea of living with this thing forever is bad enough—the thought of being cut open is even worse.

Amanda Stewart3 said:Hey everyone, I’d love to hear your thoughts...

I went to the gynecologist yesterday because of some stinging and itching, and they diagnosed me with colpitis. They prescribed a seven-day course of Klimicin V antibiotic cream.
I asked if my boyfriend needs to use anything too, and she said not right now...
But shouldn't I be worried about getting reinfected just so he has an excuse to start treatment???

There’s no need to treat a partner for this. Colpitis is essentially just vaginal inflammation, and it often clears up on its own once your flora stabilizes a bit. Using Geonistin or Klimicin V suppositories is pretty standard practice.
That said, it wouldn't hurt to run tests for any nasty bugs if it keeps coming back. My doctor mentioned that for some women, a mild case of colpitis can show up on a Pap smear even when everything else is fine—it can just be physiological. Especially if there aren't symptoms like itching or discomfort, you might just need to focus on boosting your immune system. 😉

I find myself browsing their websites quite often... they have an excellent section there...
Q&A session where the doctor provides the answers... since that’s how things have been lately...
Thinking about making a change... honestly, I'm just fed up with my current situation at work. It’s a private firm, too, which doesn't help matters... just feeling pretty dissatisfied lately...
Maybe I'll set up an appointment to get everything reviewed... and run a few more searches through their system...
If anyone's actually been there before... maybe they could share what it was like...

I found her on the internet too...
I’ve dealt with massive setbacks lately... mostly stemming from sheer incompetence, pure laziness, or just plain old physical pain. It’s been a mess trying to navigate my own healthcare, especially when you factor in the high costs of seeing a private gynecologist versus the struggles with socialized medicine... everything just feels like an uphill battle.
I finally hit my breaking point. I broke down in tears and called her... and then, just like that, I got the actual diagnosis on the very same day. After three years of pure, unadulterated torture... I finally have an answer. I even paid for it myself. $400 Through all the rough patches and the constant testing... but honestly, it was worth it.

I dealt with massive issues because of incompetence, laziness, or just plain neglect from both my public doctor and my expensive private gynecologist.
Eventually, I snapped. I called her in tears, she saw me that same day, and after three years of struggling, I finally got an accurate diagnosis. Honestly, I paid $400 for swabs and tests, but it was actually worth it.

I don't get one thing: what were they (both the public and private ones) doing for three years if they couldn't give you a diagnosis? 😕
I mean, that should be the easiest thing in the world if either of them just sent you to get all the necessary tests done.

Because then you end up with people like Dr. Dorić—and look, I’m not trying to insult her specifically, but this applies to all those types of private clinics—who swoop in and collect $400 for things you could have had done for free at Mayo Clinic using a referral from your public gynecologist, before heading to a private specialist for a second opinion on the results.
It feels like private practitioners exploit patient suffering and capitalize on the incompetence or negligence of public doctors, making money where they shouldn't be.

In this instance, $400 it isn't a huge amount of money (that's the standard rate for all the tests and HPV DNA typing at private offices, though you can go half price if you go directly to a lab like Moderna Diagnostics that specializes in testing—many private docs have deals with them to run the labs), but it's doable for free. For example, if Dr. Dorić (or any private doc who isn't solely motivated by profit) were actually decent, she would have advised you to get a referral from your public doctor for the swabs, come to her for the exam, and then you could take the samples to Mayo Clinic yourself. She’d just charge for the consultation. Besides, I heard somewhere she uses the Digene test for HPV, which isn't reliable and isn't recommended anymore.

Honestly, when I see how much some private doctors charge just for an exam and a Pap smear, I almost want to laugh. Don't get me wrong, I choose to see a private doctor myself, but that's my own choice and capability, and my doctor always gives me cheaper options to consider.

I remember a friend telling me she goes to a certain Dr. Marton, and apparently, she gets nothing but attitude for $233! Just for comparison, at my gynecologist, I paid for the exam, the Pap, a chlamydia test, and an ultrasound $233.
So, what exactly is that woman doing for $233—scraping cells with a golden spatula? 🤣

And don't even get me started on those clinics that offer HPV DNA typing for men. Everyone knows that kind of test doesn't exist for guys; it's designed specifically for cervical swabs from women, making it useless for men. And yet, they charge a fortune for it. 🙄

Jamie Newman4, I’m with you 100% on this.
I actually made the switch over to private practice myself not too long ago.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Ljubejovic lately—and yeah, I’ve already given him a glowing review.
The guy is just solid. He doesn't waste your time with useless chatter, his rates are
totally reasonable, and he really knows his stuff.
For instance, he charged me $50
for my exam and colposcopy. Honestly, for me, that was pocket change.

That is honestly very little money.
I just feel like we women can put an end to these unnecessary charges if we actually stay informed. 👍
The biggest money grab happens during testing; they rarely tell you how to get things done cheaper or through better coverage. Plus, interpreting all those tests is pretty standard procedure—there isn't much deep wisdom involved there.
Price differences really just come down to how much each doctor decides to charge for their services.

Also, most women don't realize that CIN I and II usually just need monitoring. In most cases, they clear up on their own. With that kind of diagnosis, you should just be doing a Pap smear every six months along with mandatory HPV DNA typing.

I've heard countless stories about people being charged a fortune to "treat" something that doesn't even need it.

Can anyone recommend a solid private gynecologist in Seattle who won't absolutely drain my bank account? Thanks.

Hey! I really need some advice!

So, I currently see both a private OB-GYN and one through my insurance. For my private visits, I go to Dr. Darko Husar (based on some recommendations here on the forum), and I’ve been incredibly happy with his care.

However, I just got a notification from my insurance provider saying that my current primary gynecologist is no longer in their network, so I need to select a new one. I have the instructions on how to switch providers, but I’m totally lost on who to pick. Does anyone have any recommendations? Ideally, I’d love to find a woman who is gentle.

Also, what happens if I miss the deadline to register with a new doctor?

I'm looking for someone in the Chicago or greater metropolitan area.

Checking out the thread on Reddit—it ties in perfectly with what we were saying about gynecologists. There’s a ton of personal stories over there, so you’ll definitely find the answers you're looking for...

As for the medical side of things, I could probably just ask my mom who she sees for that kind of stuff...

NYC, though... man, I don't know... my doctor isn't taking any new patients right now.

Please, just ask her!

But seriously, what does it mean if they aren't accepting new patients? Am I going to end up without a doctor because of this? What if nobody is taking anyone new???

My bad, Jose Miller3, let me just rephrase the topic like this:

I got a notification from the Social Security Administration today saying my primary care doctor isn't under contract with them anymore, so I need to pick a new one. They sent over instructions on how to switch, but I have no clue who I should actually sign up with. What happens if I miss the deadline to register with someone new? And what if nobody will take me on?
