Not quite, though I’m hoping I can actually get a straight answer here. In my case, I'm looking for a gynecologist, but really any specialist could jump ship to private practice. That's why I'm wondering: what actually happens to patients when doctors make that move? Is there some kind of legal deadline for us to register with a new provider? And why on earth do some doctors just flat-out refuse to take on new patients? Also, please don't push me back toward the "Women's Corner" section—I already told you I didn't find what I needed there. Thanks. 🙄

Find someone with an opening—ideally a doctor who actually has happy patients. You go see them, tell them you want to sign up, fill out all those tedious forms, and then I bet the whole process feels just like switching doctors all over again.

Doesn't look like much wisdom to me.

Now why don't you let Jose Miller3 send you back to where you came from.😁

Is there a deadline to switch to a new doctor? My current one’s contract ended on January 31st, and I just got the notice yesterday.
What happens if I can't find someone else?

So I just gave her a call... she was saying her guy actually left out of suburban New Jersey and now even she doesn't have any of those specialized clinic appointments available 😢

But, uh, she did mention you should probably try calling the community health center because they used to have really great doctors over there...

Anyway, yeah 🙂

I’m not about to go see some Dr. Frankenstein just because he happens to be the only one with an open slot on his calendar. 🙂

Wait, you said you're seeing a private doctor. So you’ll still need to get your prescriptions and referrals through Social Security if they need them, I assume.

There HAS to be a gynecologist out there with an opening.

creative said:Wait, so what does that actually mean—that they aren't taking on anyone new? Like, am I gonna end up without a doctor because of this? What if nobody is accepting new patients???

Nah, you won't be left hanging without a doctor...

It just means there's a cap on how many patients each doctor can have, and some doctors (like my doc, for example) have already hit their limit. 🙂

Well, maybe Jose Miller3 can send you back to the Women's Corner. 😁

I posted almost the exact same thing earlier over in the Women's Corner and didn't get a single response. I brought the topic here specifically mentioning that I hadn't heard anything back there—and then—Jose Miller3 just moves my thread back to the Women's Corner. I honestly don't get it. Did she even read what I wrote? After that, I tweaked the content to make it clearer, and now suddenly I'm being accused of being provocative.😁

Sorry if I wasn't making any sense earlier, I was just really hoping someone might have an answer. Thanks! 🙂

Look, here's the deal:

Right now, you're basically getting answers to the exact same question in two different places. The main thread over in the women's section exists specifically so more women can share their experiences—and honestly, it’s super active and full of great info.

It wasn't that you didn't get an answer ten hours after posting... the real reason is that the same question has already been answered at least ten times in that thread. It just means you missed it when you were reading through.

Since we agreed that discussions about gynecologists and recommendations should happen over there, I’m going to merge this thread with that one. If you want, you can head over and find all the answers to your questions right there.

Also, just a heads-up—please don't start a new thread asking for doctor recommendations in the health section, because it'll just get deleted. Thanks.

You call up your family doctor just to ask if there's any chance of getting an appointment. As if they'd have one. I highly doubt it.

I actually did read the thread; that's how I ended up finding my private OB-GYN, which I mentioned in my post right here:

I use both private and insurance-based gynecologists. My private doctor is Dr. Darko Husar (recommended by other forum members), and I'm extremely happy with him.

Regarding the Health section, I deleted that specific part of my post because it wasn't relevant, but it stays here, right above the part you moved from Health.

All I noticed was that I got way more replies in the Health section almost immediately, whereas nothing happened here... though, obviously, the replies have been moved here now.

As for the recommendation request, I removed that in the new thread. I also rephrased the question to fit the Health section guidelines before you even sent this warning, so your sudden outburst feels pretty ridiculous.

Anyway, seeing how you reacted, I guess it's probably better that you moved my thread here. I'd rather have no answers at all than deal with an attitude like yours.

I just called her... she said her doctor moved away from the suburbs and now neither of them has a gynecologist they can rely on. 😢

But, she suggested calling the City General Hospital because they used to have really great doctors there...

So, yeah. 🙂

I saw Dr. Kos over there once. I know it’s always been a total nightmare with the crowds and long wait times. That’s why my old doctor was such a lifesaver.
A friend of mine goes to Dr. Dropulić (I think that's the name), but she isn't exactly thrilled with the service.
I really need someone gentle. I have some serious trauma when it comes to gynecologists. 😢

Yeah, you're totally right.

Anyway, I'll ask around.

I thought this forum would be great for finding private specialists, so I figured I’d get some solid info on public healthcare too. Plus, I wanted to know about enrollment deadlines and what happens if you aren't officially covered.

Thanks for all the help, everyone! 🙂

Does anyone have a gynecologist recommendation in the West Side of the city who isn't taking new patients?

Dr. Major over at Sigetu—well, she isn’t exactly known for her punctuality, and one does find oneself waiting, but she is exceptionally gentle, and I am quite certain the woman intends to provide an explanation. The nurse, however, is dreadfully disorganized, though I suppose one can tolerate it.

Do you happen to have her number? 😍

Or could you at least give me the business hours so I have an idea of when I can head over there?
