I don't want to look like an idiot here, but what exactly is a PCO?
My doctor sent me in because of some painful intercourse issues, even though everything looked fine during the exam, just to be safe. I’m honestly dreading it because I doubt they'll actually find anything. My last gynecologist basically just told me after the check-up that I probably just need to relax more and called it a day. So, does it actually matter where I am in my menstrual cycle? God, being a woman is such a hassle...

Hello ladies, I have a question—one of those dilemmas that has been weighing on me for two full weeks now. It seems to haunt me every time my cycle is due. My period is currently fourteen days late. I used a Pregnacare Mini test, which came back negative. However, I find myself wondering if I might have botched the procedure. The instructions indicated I should hold the strip in my urine for five seconds, but instead, I simply dipped it in until the strip was fully saturated, then pulled it out. The control line appeared vertically as expected, but the result remains negative. My partner and I used a condom on one occasion, and he did not finish inside me. Aside from this delay, I am experiencing absolutely no pregnancy symptoms. 😕 😲 🙄

Missing a period doesn't always mean you're pregnant. If you've been dealing with a ton of stress lately, it can definitely happen!

I’m not sure if it matters specifically for your situation, but you should absolutely get that ultrasound done since you already have the referral!

Just call the hospital you're planning to visit, or better yet, ask your primary care doctor if the timing of your cycle matters. You have so many ways to get an answer... Or honestly, just call the OBGYN's office and ask his nurse. It’s not rocket science.🙂

Seriously, it drives me insane when people are this irresponsible about just asking questions. 😲

Jerry Walker79 said:Hmm, I don't know if it's like that for everyone, but they told me I had to go right after my period ends because that’s when it's most effective (since I deal with PCOS).

Well, you probably know roughly how long yours lasts, right? So on that specific day, just order it! Like, ask them to get it ordered for you and tell them you have an irregular cycle—that's what they did for me, they got me sorted immediately. If your period usually lasts about 5 days, then maybe try ordering it for day 6 or 7.

I’m in the same boat with the PCOS thing. Honestly, getting it ordered isn't even the hard part—they can usually have it ready for me in a day or two, no biggie. My actual struggle is that my period is all over the place, lasting anywhere from 5 to 15 days depending on the month. Sometimes it stops for a day and then starts again, so it's super tricky to time everything perfectly. I'll give it a shot though, maybe I can pull it off this month. Thanks for the help!

I don't really feel like digging through everything right now, so please excuse me if I'm repeating myself.
Has anyone ever been to see Dr. Marton in downtown Chicago? I'm not sure of the exact location. I've heard she's an amazing doctor. It's Ulla and Marta Marton—mother and daughter. From what I understand, it's just the daughter practicing there now.

Thanks so much!😘

Thank you so much!😘

I visited them once (I don't quite have the budget for regular checkups there 😁) and the women were simply delightful 🙏.

I arrived feeling completely frazzled after being intimidated by Dr. Topalovic, but they calmed me right down! They explained everything clearly and recommended a specialist for my ultrasound since I needed surgery.

I definitely recommend them 👍.

P.S. Their office is located on Hebrang Avenue.

Hey everyone!😘 So, an older member named northernfalcon30 helped translate the book *Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom*. Since the book itself is absolutely phenomenal, I figured that means she must be one incredible woman.

It seems I’ve been given a single identifier without any context or content to work with. Like trying to navigate a fog-heavy morning on a backroad in Maine without a compass—there's plenty of space, but absolutely no direction. If there was supposed to be a post here for me to rework, please send it over. I'll be here, staring at the clock and waiting for something substantial to sink my teeth into. kaže:
Well, here I am again...
I'm curious to know what you all might know about... It’s funny how certain names just stick in the cultural consciousness, isn't it? Like a song you can't quite shake or a recurring character in a long-running novel. When you bring up Ingi Matezov, you aren't just talking about a person; you're touching upon a specific era of American grit and ambition. It’s reminiscent of those old-school industry titans we read about in biographies—people who operated with a certain heavy-handed certainty that seems almost extinct in today's hyper-nuanced, consensus-driven world. They were built differently, I suppose. Less like the polished, focus-grouped executives we see in Silicon Valley today, and more like the weathered architects of the mid-century industrial boom. There was a weight to their presence, an unapologetic way of taking up space in the room. You look at the legacy left behind by figures like him, and it feels less like a straight line and more like a complex web of influence that shaped the very landscape we're standing on now. It makes you wonder how much of our current reality was paved by people who simply refused to blink. It looks like you cut off mid-sentence. What were you about to ask? I'm standing by. The local community health clinic over on Runjaninova Street. You’re very welcome! Happy to help.😍

I’ve been one of her patients for several years now, and I have to admit, she really got under my skin at first. She carries herself with this intense, untouchable poise—acting as if we’re all just passing through her office like people on a conveyor belt. She maintains this persona of a refined, high-society lady that can feel quite distancing.

Honestly, I’ve started to change my mind about her. The more often I find myself heading over there, the better she seems—more approachable, a bit more patient, less of that edge. It feels like her whole perspective on the patients has shifted, too. I suspect having a proper sister in the mix now, someone who actually knows how to organize a workflow, has made all the difference. It’s funny how much a little structural competence can smooth out a person's temperament.
I’m heading over to see her tomorrow. I can only hope the situation plays out exactly like I laid it out.🙂

My intention here isn't to badmouth a physician who, quite frankly, holds a grudge against me; rather, I simply want to caution everyone to always take a doctor's opinion with a healthy grain of salt.
Now, this situation didn't happen to me personally, but I feel as though I lived it myself.
A woman went in for an X-ray on her ankle due to some persistent issues. What she didn't realize was that she had conceived just a week prior—something she had been trying to achieve for quite some time. Upon discovering the pregnancy during the X-ray process, the doctor flatly advised her that the best course of action was to have an abortion. Naturally, the patient began asking questions because she desperately wanted this child. When she requested a written opinion—which would be standard procedure if one were pursuing medical termination—the doctor refused to put anything in writing. Furthermore, the doctor became incredibly indignant when the patient asked for a referral, mentioning that the staff at the local clinic had suggested seeking a second opinion. Instead of providing documentation, the doctor snapped that if she insisted on seeing someone else, then that new doctor could handle her pregnancy too. As it turns out, she sought a second opinion elsewhere and received a completely different diagnosis, along with various explanations as to why the first doctor's advice was utterly nonsensical.
Today, that woman is raising a perfectly healthy child.

I honestly cannot fathom what kind of motives could drive a doctor to behave in such a manner. I had always heard wonderful things about her, and I even had positive experiences with her myself when she was my own physician, but after hearing this, I simply couldn't bring myself to return to her care.
I truly believe it is best to treat every medical opinion as a starting point rather than gospel, and if you are facing anything remotely serious, you should absolutely seek a second opinion.

I’m honestly not sure if I should even be posting this, but ladies, if you can avoid him, stay far away from Dr. Topalovic. He works at the university health center, and unfortunately, since I moved here for college, they automatically assigned me to his care. Whatever you do, please do not let him handle your pregnancy. A colleague of mine went to see him while she was just five weeks along, and he diagnosed her with uterine fibroids. Because of that experience, I decided to take my prenatal care privately with Dr. Martonice Jr.—who is absolutely amazing, five stars!—and I only visit Topalovic when I need basic referrals. Ever since I mentioned I wanted to switch to a private doctor, he has become incredibly rude. He even handed me some referrals where he didn't waive the co-pay, which means I’ll have to pay out of pocket for really expensive tests. I haven't double-checked the paperwork yet because I only went in during the designated "pregnancy clinic" hours when it's just expecting moms, but I highly doubt it was an accident. I am absolutely livid.😠

The staff is seriously amazing—it’s a mother-daughter team, and the daughter is a total pro when it comes to ultrasounds. Plus, their equipment is top-notch! Luckily, I actually have the funds to go to them regularly. On the other hand, they discovered three uterine fibroids for a close friend of mine, which Dr. Miller completely missed because he didn't even bother using an ultrasound. They probably just want to save money! Now my friend has to undergo surgery and might not be able to have kids someday. Honestly, I’d rather spend my last dime on a private specialist than trust his diagnoses.

So, I made my way over to Dr. Miller’s office. Everyone had been raving about him—"He's the best," "He's so brilliant," blah, blah, blah. Well, I showed up, waited six agonizing hours just to be seen, and what happened? He barely even glanced at my actual lab results. For those wondering, they show carcinoma in situ. Instead of actually addressing that, he just told me to come back in a month to redo the Pap smear because apparently, since there was a biopsy, he won't even touch a Pap for five weeks. So, currently, I’m left completely in the dark. They sent me all the way from Slidell specifically because he’s supposedly such a specialist, yet his grand medical advice? Eat a spoonful of honey every day to "boost my immune system." Honestly, I could have gotten that same tip from a fortune cookie instead of a doctor. I'm beyond disappointed. I'll let you all judge that for yourselves.

Has anyone ever visited the Sunce clinic near Gin? I’m asking because I have some ongoing health issues, and I’m wondering if it would actually make financial sense to pay for their private insurance just so I can handle everything under one roof.

Quick question regarding this forum: how on earth do I go about digging up pictures associated with my username? I’ll admit it—I’m a complete dinosaur when it comes to modern technology.

I used to be an RN—not practicing now, though—but from what I saw while I was on the clock, patients coming through Sunce got treated like royalty. We're talking private rooms, apartment-style setups, phone calls handled immediately, and doctors who actually go the extra mile. It’s pretty common knowledge that they staff top-tier specialists there. If your budget allows for it, honestly, go for it.

I wouldn't recommend Dr. Martinson at all! (I think it was her mother, not her daughter.)
She gave me a completely wrong diagnosis (a tumor) and caused me one of the worst traumas of my life. I was 18 at the time (eight years ago) and I remember her acting like she was Satan himself 🤮 Some people later suggested I sue her, but I just didn't have the energy for it... Every doctor I saw afterward for second, third, or fifth opinions (ranging from private clinics to the big municipal hospitals) basically tore her apart; they couldn't believe how unprofessional she was and how she handed out such a serious diagnosis without doing any necessary testing!
Not to mention she was so clueless and rude that she'd tell a stone-cold 18-year-old—with zero basis—that she might bleed out in the street if she didn't go into surgery immediately 🤮
She scared me so much I was crying all the way home 👎 when, in reality, nothing was wrong, I didn't need surgery, and I certainly wasn't going to die 🙄

And yeah, she took my $217 and just tucked them away in a drawer, quite elegantly, without any regard for them 👎

A little while later, I found Dr. Grujić Koračin over in the Star district, and I won't go to anyone else because I'm completely satisfied with her 🙂 :knock on wood:

Alright, let me break it down for you step-by-step: just head over to your options, select "edit avatar," and then you can pick an image from the web or one saved on your computer. I have faith you can handle it! 🙂

She scared me so badly I cried all the way home. 👎 As it turns out, nothing was actually wrong. I didn't need surgery, let alone to worry about dying. 🙄

And yeah, she took my $217 and just tucked them away in a drawer without a second thought. 👎

I've heard similar stories from a few friends. They went to her and ended up paying so much money for wrong diagnoses that it's honestly criminal. One friend said the exact same thing as you: she hasn't experienced that level of paranoia and fear-mongering in a long time. 😢
Then again, I know someone who is completely happy with them.

On another note, I want to join everyone here praising Dr. Ljubojević from Ginoderme. He's great—very calm, gentle, with a nice sense of humor, and he isn't expensive. He explains everything clearly using the monitor right in front of you. From what I hear, he's one of the few true experts when it comes to HPV.
👍
