northernseal6 said:I’ve got this idea stuck in my head—some guy digging around where he shouldn't be—but he isn't my boyfriend or husband. Honestly, I prefer it when it's a woman doing that. Though, I have heard girls tend to lean toward male gynecologists more... whatever. Screw him, we aren't all the same.😎
Honestly, I’m also leaning toward preferring a female gynecologist—it just feels like there's a better level of understanding there.
When I tell her, "It hurts right there—you know, that 'clueless' kind of way"—she just nods and says, "I know." Yeah, well—no guy actually wants to know what it feels like to get screwed over like that.

Hey everyone.
I’ve been scrolling through this forum and honestly, I’m just feeling really confused. I actually had an appointment with Dr. Gudelj in Hartford once, and personally, I thought she was great. I had no idea there were lawsuits filed or anything like that. Usually, I register with Dr. Doke over in the suburbs, but I can't stand her office. It feels like it hasn't been updated since the late 60s—just a classic, outdated clinic without a single modern piece of equipment. When I go in, she’s busy doing crosswords, and when she does answer my questions, it's just one-word "yes" or "no" responses.
Anyway, long story short: it looks like I'm pregnant. Two different tests confirmed it. Now I'm in a bit of a bind. I want a REAL gynecologist covered by my insurance who has more than just a desk in their exam room. Ideally, I'd love someone located in Brooklyn since I live right here in the city.
My husband is from the Midwest and I'm from the West Coast, so when we first moved here, we didn't know a soul. You're probably going to laugh, but we basically just signed up with whatever doctors sounded friendly when we first registered. It sounds crazy, but that's how it happened.
So, if anyone has any solid, vetted recommendations for a decent gynecologist that takes my insurance, I would be incredibly grateful.
I really need this because, clearly, I’m about to become a mom, so any help you can give is much appreciated.
On a side note, I also wanted to give a huge shout-out to my previous gynecologist back home, Dr. Lidija Pejković. She was absolutely amazing!
Thanks so much.

My husband is from the Midwest and I'm from the South—when we first moved here, we didn't know a soul. So, you're probably gonna laugh, but we actually picked our doctor based on names that just sounded "cute" to us.
hehe.. I did the exact same thing..
I walked up to the desk at the clinic and the nurse asked which doctor I wanted to see, and I just blurted out... WHICHEVER DOCTOR HAS THE SHORTEST WAIT TIME!!!
i the nurse goes, "We have one like that," and I'm just like, "Perfect."
So I come back a second time and there are two lines—one line has thirty old ladies waiting, and the other one? Just me.
I thought, *Score. This is perfect.*
I sit down, and then this guy walks out BLACK MAN!!!! and tells me in really broken English: "You be my new patient" (total Tarzan vibes—just using infinitives).
I just stood there, looking around, thinking—is this some hidden camera prank?? He reaches out to shake my hand, and I'm just staring at him while I take it (it was very United Colors of Benetton)... then he pushes that big black hand toward me to get me onto the exam table... I felt a little lightheaded, honestly!!
You made the same mistake I did... damn, you can't exactly pick your doctor based on preference.

I'm new here, and since I don't have the time to slog through all 40 pages of this thread, I just skimmed everything. I've got my own story, a conclusion, and a few questions.
Here's the deal—about a year or two ago (when I was 20 or 21), I had my first real experience with a gynecologist at a local clinic near my hometown. Since I wasn't exactly an expert on my own body back then, she basically brushed me off because I didn't have enough "history." At the time, I'd only had one short-term partner, and honestly, not much has changed since. That’s fine, but the issue was my cycle—it was totally irregular, running about 50 days, and the pain was brutal. When I asked for help, she was incredibly cold and refused to answer my questions. Her diagnosis and treatment plan? Basically, "call us back when you start having regular sex." Real helpful.
Fast forward to now, and nothing has changed. I desperately need to switch doctors. Honestly, I don't care if it's a man or a woman; I just want someone with a shred of humanity and equipment that doesn't look like it was salvaged from a WWII battlefield.
From what I can tell, a lot of you recommend Dr. Dmitrovic (the one who worked in the States). She does IVF work and sees patients at both the regional medical center and the specialized women's hospital. I'm wondering if those clinics are part of the standard county health system or private, if they take major insurance, and if anyone knows if she's currently taking new patients.
Does it matter which district or specific clinic I'm assigned to, or can I commute from the suburbs to a clinic downtown?
Thanks so much in advance to everyone helping me out. I really appreciate it.

Hey everyone!!!!
I just skimmed through everything you all posted, but seriously, HELP!!!!!!!!!
I haven’t been able to find a decent gynecologist since I was 16. I had an emergency once and saw someone out in the suburbs (Dr. I. Srbanic), but honestly, he was a total disaster. I barely ever go back because seeing him eats up my entire day...
Dr. Đurić is amazing if you're paying private, but I really need someone covered by my insurance...
I managed to have a kid and even tried again later, but it's just impossible—it feels like all the good doctors are totally booked up and don't want any new patients.
It blows my mind that I haven't found "my" doctor in seven years, and now that it's time to pick providers again... PLEASE, help me out!!!!!
I live near the Jarun area, so if anyone has leads there... PLEASE!
I'm open to anywhere from downtown to the outskirts or the suburbs... just needs to be someone good...

If you’re looking for someone, I can't recommend Dr. Wahid over at the Kruge Medical Center enough. Seriously, this guy is absolute perfection. He’s got such a gentle bedside manner, totally approachable—you ask him a question and he actually takes the time to walk you through everything instead of just rushing you out the door... 😍

😕 I recently had my second child, and now I’m seriously considering getting an IUD just to effectively shut down the factory for good... The thing is, I don't actually know anyone who has gone through the procedure. From what I gather, there’s the standard one that goes for about $67, and then the hormonal version which is closer to $400—though apparently, doctors tend to recommend the hormonal route for women over 30. Could someone maybe share some insight or advice on this?😕

It looks like a few other women have signed up here on a whim,
and I suppose I’m one of them. I usually stick to private practice, but I recently realized it might be wise to have a gynecologist covered by my insurance just in case. Since my annual checkup 😬 is coming up soon, I had this thought about visiting the doctor I'm actually registered with to save on out-of-pocket costs. The catch is, I have absolutely no idea what she's like—which, honestly, is usually my main deciding factor.
Is anyone familiar with Dr. Dropulić Vidaković at the Siget Health Center?
I would really appreciate it if any ladies here could share their experience with her, just so I know what to expect.
(I changed my username because I realized I misread the name on my insurance card. I also happened to skim through this thread and noticed a friend mentioned being unhappy with her. If anyone is willing to share why, feel free to send me a private message.)

Well, following my second pregnancy, I opted for the standard copper IUD; the sensation was perfectly fine and the insertion wasn't painful at all, but... the spotting simply wouldn't cease, leading to some unexpected leaking, which ultimately forced me to have it removed. I certainly know women who tolerate the standard version without any drama whatsoever. I had fully intended to go with the hormonal option—the Mirena—but honestly, I just couldn't scrape together the cash 🙄 . From what I've gathered, people only speak highly of that particular model. Apparently, you can even get it covered by insurance 😁 now since it's frequently prescribed for women dealing with heavy cycles. It might be worth looking into.

I've been using oral contraceptive pills for six years now, and I'm honestly very happy with them. However, my doctor is starting to suggest I switch to patches to "spare my liver," claiming I've been on tablets for "too long."🤔 ??
I've done some reading about the patches, but I haven't found anyone who has actually used them personally. I would be so grateful for any firsthand pros or cons you could share. On paper, everything sounds absolutely perfect, but in real life, is there a catch? Any downsides or unpleasant side effects I should know about?😁
thanks

Hey girls!
Regarding the IUD... if you don't have cycle issues, you probably won't run into any trouble with them.
Still, a friend of mine can basically set her watch by her period. After she got her IUD following her third kid, everything just flipped on her. She felt like she was going to "give birth" to the thing because of constant cramping. So she just had it pulled out and felt fine. I know tons of women who swap their IUDs every five years without a single issue...
As for Mirena, it’s amazing for heavy bleeding and really does the trick. It balances things out and prevents pregnancy too. I’m honestly dreaming of having a period that lasts less than 12 days... But hey, we're all built differently, so I get that it varies from person to person.
LARA35ZG, you mentioned you used your insurance through the state provider.
I've been doing a little digging and asking around about health insurance options.
Looking at the provider's site, it seems like picking the Optima package would be my best bet.
I'm wondering though, do you actually have to see three different specialists for those exams, or can you just go to the gynecologist three times?
Anyway, thanks everyone for the OBGYN recommendations!
I've had such great experiences with Dr. Predrag Đurić.
His office used to be over on Branimirova, but now they're on Draskovic. He works Saturdays by appointment. Everything is quick, precise, and way more affordable than other places. If I remember right, the exam and ultrasound are $83 (that includes the pap smear too).

Those remedies you guys suggested for Dr. Ljubojevic... I honestly don't get how he thinks he can treat people like that.
To me, he was just 👎 😲 🙂
First off—how does a gynecologist think it’s okay to use "hey you" with a patient they’re seeing for the first time? Like, we aren't out grazing sheep together in a field or something.
We talked for maybe two or three minutes tops. He barely even glanced at the labs from the doctor who referred me (the one who thought I had ovarian cysts on an ultrasound), and then he just shoves me behind a curtain and says, "Strip down—pants, socks, underwear off."🙄
He wouldn't even bother doing an ultrasound because my previous results were a month old—even though some other doctor did them, so I have no idea why he even cared about the timing.
Then, while I'm on the exam table, he basically shoves his hand in up to my stomach, poking around my ovaries and uterus like he's mixing a batch of concrete. I was sweating through my clothes from the pain, trying to tell him it hurts, and he just... nothing. Zero reaction.
To top it all off, he tells me everything is totally fine and tries to push me onto birth control pills without asking a single question about my medical history or my family's history—which, by the way, is loaded with contraindications that make those pills almost a non-starter.
And this is supposed to be a "professional, gentle, attentive, and thorough" physician? 😕 😕 😕
I walked out of there feeling like I’d accidentally wandered into the wrong clinic. Honestly, once I left, I found myself reading the sign on the door five times, then frantically checking forums and their official website once I got home.
Bad. Just really, really bad. 👎

I am so sorry you had such a rough experience...
For me, for example, I actually felt a bit more relaxed during my first visit because he was so conversational. He wasn't stiff at all, and things didn't feel quite as clinical or strict as they usually do with doctors. He never handled an exam so roughly that I'd think twice about coming back there. 😁
After our initial chat, he also told me to "take off my pants and underwear"—not my socks 😁—which almost made me burst out laughing because it reminded me of something else. 😁 Honestly, I’ve always had certain biases against male gynecologists. It wasn't that I questioned their motives, I just knew deep down I would never see a man; I'd only ever go to a woman. But when I met him, his laid-back attitude really helped ease those nerves. 😁
But we are all different. I'm sure some of my girlfriends wouldn't appreciate that "take off your pants and underwear" approach either. 🤣 😉

Check out the previous page
I mean, you can totally get an IUD before you hit 30.
Personally, I would never touch the non-hormonal kind; I know a few people who actually ended up pregnant anyway.
From what I've gathered online, the hormonal IUD is supposedly the safest bet and might even lower certain health risks, like tumors and stuff.
Whereas that basic one might actually increase them.
As soon as I have a free moment, I’m heading straight to my OB-GYN to talk about getting the Mirena. 🙂

Rebecca said:Does anyone know what Dr. Sanja Gršić-Burić is like?
She’s a total joke... honestly. I saw her back when I wasn't dealing with any issues and she was fine, nothing special... but then I hit some complications, and when I asked her for an explanation, she basically told me she wasn't a psychic (seriously?!)! Do I even need to say more? I ended up seeing Dr. Visnja Tadic instead, and she explained everything perfectly. I’ll definitely be going back to her, but I am never stepping foot in Dr. Gršić-Burić's office again!

I know there’s been info about Visnja Tadic floating around already, but can you drop the details again? Like where her practice is, if she's private or not, her vibe, all that good stuff🙂

hey there👋 Look, I know I’m probably about to sound incredibly dense here, but I’m genuinely curious if anyone has dealt with diaphragm issues before. Specifically, is it actually possible for a gynecologist to get the sizing completely wrong during the fitting process? I’m looking to pick one up, but I have no idea if it matters which doctor I see—I’m actually planning on switching my OB-GYN later this year anyway. Since I am essentially starting from zero knowledge on this whole topic, I would truly appreciate any advice or insight you might be willing to share!
