shadowpilot10 said:When I first registered for my gynecological care, I just spoke with the nurse. She handed me some paperwork that needed to be photocopied and verified at the Social Security office before being brought back to the doctor. You can actually drop that off when you go in for your appointment to save a trip. I didn't wait until the end of the year to get everything sorted. Even when I was switching providers, the process was identical. 🙂It felt a bit strange that I didn't have to officially unregister from my previous clinic...
Also, I have a quick question regarding an upcoming ultrasound. Some friends suggested I should drink at least a quart of liquid beforehand. Is there any truth to that? And if so, why hasn't any medical staff mentioned it to me yet?

You’re supposed to pee before the exam, not drink a ton of water.

Now I’m completely lost. My gynecologist didn't explain a single thing—what this actually means, what I need to do, or what I don't. I even brought my referral to the doctor, and they just told me not to worry, saying it's just an external check, like those ultrasounds pregnant women get to see the baby. Then I read this! Honestly, I can still cancel my order... maybe I should just leave the spot for someone who actually needs it.

If you're looking for a good gynecologist, I’d suggest Dr. Wahid over at the Downtown Medical Center. I switched to him at the start of October, and I think he's still taking new patients.

I don't know what the standard protocol is for every OB-GYN, but in my experience with private doctors, they've done transvaginal ultrasounds on me a few times... It's probably possible they just do an abdominal one instead, and I actually think it might be better if your bladder is full... Anyway, if you're unsure—just call that doctor—and ask 🙂

Hey, how's it going?

So, where exactly is that health clinic located? I'm thinking about heading over there next week—once I get my insurance paperwork sorted out—just so I don't end up wandering around aimlessly.
thanks

Regarding the transvaginal ultrasound, I wasn't supposed to drink anything beforehand. For the external one, it varies—one time I didn't need to, but another time I did (the technician told me in the waiting room that I should go grab something to drink and then come back, or if I just wanted to take a few sips of water right there and wait a bit; I ended up choosing the second option because honestly, it was freezing outside 😬 ) —kill me now, I can't even remember what they were actually looking at 😵

I guess everything really just depends on what KIND of ultrasound it is and EXACTLY what they need to see—you should probably just call them up and ask!

Haven't read everything yet...

Can anyone recommend a good gynecologist around the Westside or near the stadium area? Just looking for someone in that part of town...

Private practice or public health?

I highly recommend Dr. Jeleković for private care, but I am unsure about the public options.

So, I went in for an ultrasound once back when I was still a virgin. They were checking me for PCOS and the doc told me my bladder had to be totally full. Well, I chugged a ton of water, but then he starts pressing down on my stomach and goes, "Yeah, it’s not actually that full," while I'm sitting there literally clenching my legs shut just so I wouldn't explode right then and there. 🤣

Fast forward to my most recent visit—this time it was a transvaginal ultrasound, and yeah, obviously I had to pee before they could even start.

Seriously, give them a call and ask.

Does anyone have any thoughts or actual experiences with Dr. Funduk-Kurjak??

Hi everyone!
Could anyone recommend a good social gynecologist in the area around Folnegovice, New Chicago, or somewhere nearby?

Hi there!
I actually posted a similar question over on the pregnancy forums, but I couldn't get a straight answer because nobody there was from the Midwest.
Now, you all might have already covered this, but honestly... I don't have the patience to dig through twenty-five pages of comments just to find what I need!
I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable social worker or a private therapist in Indianapolis.
It’s pretty urgent!!!

Why does your doctor need to be right in your neighborhood? 😕 😁

MaLo, I honestly can't help you out here, mostly because I just don't know 😢 But, look, if this is actually as much of an emergency as you're making it out to be, then please, for heaven's sake, just go to anyone! Go to whoever your mom usually visits? A close friend? An aunt? Just find someone.
Good luck!

velvetwolf92 said:Has anyone else dealt with Dr. Krešić and/or Dr. Brnčić?

I’ve heard some incredibly negative things about Dr. Krešić—not from my own experience personally, but from people very close to me. If you want the details, there were some posts about this just a few pages back (maybe pages 2 or 3).
As for Dr. Brnčić, I’ve heard she’s quite good, though I should probably add a caveat: I heard similar things about Krešić once, and well, reality didn't quite match the hype.

Well, I do have my own doctor! But he’s in private practice and every single checkup $133, and since I'm pregnant now and will need frequent visits, my guy is going to be a bit too pricey. So, I'm looking for other options.

Here’s my recommendation for a public OB/GYN:
Dr. Sandra Kovacevic, her clinic is right near the train station..
I’ve also had a hell of a time trying to pick a gynecologist, whether private or public—they all seem equally terrible. While this one isn't perfect, here’s why I think she stands out from the rest:
1. She’s actually friendly, sweet, and has a warm personality.
2. The nurse is an absolute legend.
3. She’ll actually run tests for every possible bacteria, HPV, and so on. Most other doctors don't bother with that and just throw antibiotics at you regardless of what's actually going on.

...but the downsides are:
1. The appointment lasts maybe 10 minutes or less (including the "consultation"). Honestly, I think that's just how it is with most public clinics, at least in major cities like Chicago (back in my hometown, they actually gave you some time).
2. They don't have an ultrasound on-site!

Anyway, I’ve been through plenty of public and private doctors in the city and I've never been truly satisfied!
If you want to sign up with her, you'll need to call after the New Year since she’s fully booked. The number is 378-2828! (She’s already full for November anyway).

🙂

P.S. Just stay away from Dr. Konrad Nitezic. The guy can be incredibly rude—or "brutally honest," if you want to put it that way—when you ask him any specific questions!

But hey, you always have to keep in mind that all gynecologists are pretty bad, heheeeeeee... damn...

Near the station? In Chicago, New York, or where?

P.S. Just a heads-up, don't push Dr. Konrad Nižetić too hard. The guy can be incredibly blunt—some might even say rude—if you hit him with direct questions!

The man simply doesn't have a clue... He didn't answer a single one of my questions, let alone actually solve the issue. He had the audacity to compare frequent infections to catching a sore throat from using a dirty spoon. So here I am, wasting my time scouring forums looking for any scrap of actual advice after such a "wonderful" experience with a gynecologist...
Please, I'm asking you all: do not overwhelm me with unsolicited advice.🙂
What I really need is a young, highly competent specialist so I can end this search once and for all. At this rate, I feel like I'll find the Holy Grail before I find another decent gynecologist—and finding two good ones in a single lifetime seems like an impossible feat.🙂
Any additional intel on Drs. Shebo, Egzet, Wahid, or Shadid would be appreciated, as well as info regarding
gynecology services at the Borovje Community Health Center.
I'm not ruling out female doctors entirely, but I think I've written off private practices. They're just as incompetent, if not worse, and they charge an absolute fortune for it!

Hey everyone, I have a quick question for you all🙏I’m currently scheduled for an appointment over at the Student Health Center with Dr. Topalovic—I've heard through the grapevine that he's quite good, but I wanted to get some actual perspectives here first. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with him? What are your thoughts?
