I can certainly say I've dealt with it before. Honestly, I never had issues with Candida until I started taking birth control pills. 😳
Now, I've switched over to beta-glucan, so maybe that will help stabilize things for me.

Thanks for all the replies. 😉
I think I’m going to take a break from the pills for a bit, just to see if they were actually the culprit...

Don’t go skipping breaks on the birth control pills, because for most modern brands, those breaks aren't even recommended anymore. Plus, if you start messing with the cycle—especially since you were already on them last year—you might run a higher risk of things like yeast infections. I don't know the exact science behind why, but that’s what my OB-GYN told me, and honestly, it’s the same thing printed right there in the Yasmin packaging.
Second thing: get some probiotics. You can find dozens of different kinds at any CVS or Walgreens. I’ve made it a habit to take them whenever I’m on antibiotics because, in the past, I always ended up dealing with yeast infections. Now, when I’m juggling both the pill and an antibiotic, I just toss a probiotic in whenever I remember, and I haven't had a single issue.

I haven't actually started on the pill yet, but before I jump in, I really wanted to get your take on this.
I was planning on starting them because, honestly, things between us are almost always unprotected (condoms just don't work for us), but here's the catch:
we're about to be super long-distance, and we'll probably only see each other for a few days once a month. So, does it even make sense—or is it worth the hassle—to start taking them now? I should mention that my periods are totally regular and I deal with ovulation spotting too, so I’ve felt pretty secure up until now, but I'm just so over the constant stress and worrying every single month.

Message to moderators: I’ve combed through (more or less) every thread here and haven't found anything useful, so I’m starting a new one. Once I get some answers, feel free to delete, lock, or otherwise dispose of this topic.

Now, a question for the community:

My doctor prescribed me Novocef 500mg for a paronychia infection (yes, I know, I’m an idiot for biting my nails, but I can't seem to stop 🙂). I’ve been taking it twice daily since Monday. My last dose should be Friday, at which point I’ll need to start a new pack of pills.

The issue is that my (dear 🙄) physician is apparently clueless about the contraindications between antibiotics and oral contraceptives. First, she told me there were no issues, then she suggested I "refrain from intimacy" for five days. However, the Novocef instructions state that this specific ingredient can interfere with estrogen absorption, potentially reducing the effectiveness of birth control.

I definitely plan on using backup protection on Friday when I take my final dose, but I’m wondering if I need to continue using extra protection after Friday as well, and for how long? If anyone has had a similar experience, please let me know.

Thanks in advance to everyone. 😁 😘

Personally, I wouldn't bother popping pills just for a couple of days—but hey, it really just depends on you.

I suppose it’s still better than having no protection at all.😲 🤷
And what kind of condoms were you using? Maybe try some ultra-thin ones so they feel less intrusive.

I was just saying I wouldn't use the pill for only two days out of the month—I didn't say doing nothing was better—but hey, it's her call and there's no point in me lecturing her... she knows exactly what happens when you skip protection.
Before I started on the pill, I always used condoms—and honestly, not once did things work out without protection.

Just hit up your OB-GYN and ask—they’ll definitely have the better handle on this 😉.

And yeah, you'll probably need to play it safe with protection until those antibiotics clear out of your system—like, until they're basically at zero

On August 28th, I started my 11th pack of Lindynette 20 birth control pills. Since the beginning of September, my breasts and nipples have been quite sore and slightly swollen. In the past, I’ve experienced some tenderness before, but it was always much milder than what I'm feeling now, and it usually cleared up within a week. Is it normal for this pain to suddenly become more intense and last much longer than usual?

I actually suspected my pills were the culprit for a while, but it turned out to be some kind of bacterial issue instead.

Has anyone else dealt with breakthrough bleeding because their cycle was shifting or shortening? Like, what’s considered a "normal" amount of days for spotting to last?

It lasted me through the next whole box. I went through two boxes in a row without any placebo tablets.
This was done by Jendom about a year ago. Can't remember it anymore. 😁

Last month, I started taking the placebo pills three days early just to try and trigger my period sooner. It lasted three days like usual. Nothing crazy happened, everything was fine.

Hey everyone! 👋 Just popping in here to say hi and get the conversation flowing! I feel like there’s been such a massive wave of energy on the boards lately, and honestly, I am absolutely living for it! ✨ It’s so refreshing to see everyone jumping in and sharing their thoughts—it really makes this community feel like home, you know? I was just scrolling through some of the recent threads and I couldn't help but smile at how much passion everyone has. Whether we're debating the best local spots or just venting about a crazy week, that vibe is everything! 🙌 What’s everyone up to today? Tell me everything! I want all the tea, all the wins, and even the little mishaps. Let’s make this a great day together! 💖✨ kaže:
Honestly, if you ask me, I’d much rather have those protections in place than just leave everything totally wide open! It’s way better to be safe than sorry, right? 😲 🤷
Hey, quick question for the group—which brands or specific condoms have you guys actually used? Maybe if you try some of those ultra-thin ones, you won't feel them quite as much. Just a thought!

Oh man, we definitely hit that trifecta! We’re talking Durex Elite, Ultra Thin, AND Real Feel. Honestly, it’s a miracle we actually pulled that off successfully—that kind of luck is rare! 😢

I guess life just keeps throwing curveballs. Maybe that's all there is to it. kaže:
We actually have the Durex Elite, Ultra Thin, and Real Feel options. It’s pretty rare for that kind of thing to actually work out, I guess. 😢

Yeah, he’s got some kind of mental block there. It's probably not going to get better anytime soon because that constant anxiety over using a condom is just too much. I know a couple who dealt with the exact same thing—he couldn't do the condom thing, and they lived in different cities, too. Once the girlfriend switched to the pill, everything was fine, I guess.
Look, pills aren't exactly peak health, and they definitely cost more than just going unprotected, I guess. But for me, that’s still better than living in constant fear of an unplanned pregnancy. Maybe eventually he'll chill out enough to handle condoms, but maybe he just needs more time. 🤷

I don't get it. I didn't mean for that to come off like an attack, I guess. 🙂 Condoms are obviously the best way to go here, but since that clearly isn't working, I guess birth control becomes a necessary evil if she wants protection. Maybe.

Durex isn't the only condom brand out there.😉

Thanks for the reply. 🙂

Honestly, I suspect my OB-GYN will give me the exact same answer this doctor did, so I can't bring myself to even bother—though I suppose I’ll have to eventually.

Hey, rowdyfox12! Just saw you pop up—what's the word? Hope everything's going awesome on your end today! 🙌✨ kaže:
Hey, just so we’re all clear here—Durex definitely isn't the only condom brand out there! There are tons of other options on the market if you're looking for something different. 😉

And you know what? It’s totally not true! Honestly, they all just act like they’re built from the exact same blueprint and made out of the same cheap material. I mean, come on, I seriously don't buy for a second that there's any massive difference between them! 😢

Please accept my apologies if I have somehow wandered into the wrong discussion thread... I spent quite some time searching for something that mirrored my own situation, yet found nothing, which led me to believe this particular topic might be appropriate for my inquiry...

To provide some context, I was taking Diane 35 for seven months before transitioning over to Lindynette 20; I had been on them for a total of nine days—though I still have twelve tablets remaining in the pack—but during that period, I experienced these harrowing chest pains, a sensation akin to intense pressure accompanied by difficulty breathing. I sought medical advice from my gynecologist, and his directive was quite clear: I must cease taking them immediately...

Now, I find myself wondering, has anyone else here ever been forced to discontinue their medication in the middle of a cycle, and what might the potential consequences of such an abrupt interruption be?🙂 🙂 🙂

Never done that myself—but you really shouldn't be seeing any major issues, though I'd say just take a break from everything for now. Switching brands like that can spike your risk for blood clots, plus it's basically just shocking your system...

Dr. Miller sent me over to see a cardiologist, so I’m just sitting here passing the time until my test results come back...
However, I’ve been scouring the internet and reading all these horror stories about how it could lead to heavy bleeding or, on the flip side, having no period at all :S
And honestly, I am completely spiraling and in a state of total panic 😕

Stop doomscrolling online. Just watch the movie and stop overthinking it.
If you quit obsessing over all that junk, you’ll probably end up with a much lower anxiety level.
Seriously, just get off the forums. I’ve basically diagnosed myself with a thousand different ailments just by falling down internet rabbit holes.
